My clothier just mooded and has gathered some interesting implements;
2 Hemp plant fiber cloth, 1 Rope Reed Fiber cloth, 1 Rough Demantoid, 1 rough Amethyst, and 1 piece of Grizzly bear leather. Knowing my luck it will turn into the greatest thong ever created or something.

Fuck!
I went away from the computer to do something for a while, came back and the settlement had withered. Not having played in a long time, I pressed space, expecting a screen where I could look around the fortress before finishing- and of course, it saves the game. Well, shit.

Even worse, apparently the end came simply from people dying of thirst. Ugh.
Now I really want to work out how to mod brewing into an automatic thing. Pretty sure someone mentioned how to do that a while back...

Here's some stuff that I do that might help you    :D :

Never leave DF alone, EVER. That's like leaving gremlins in kitchen for a vacation weekend!  :P

Always have an indoors well for medical and emergencies

Have a big farm and more than enough farmers. Also get livestock for emergencies, they are quick to slaughter.

You can use the manager to make thirty brews at a time on all breweries.

Sometimes if you are drowning in Plants, set brewing to repeat.

ALWAYS, have a huge stockpile of booze!!

A safe option for a forest biome, set fruit brewing to repeat.

Hope this helps your booze troubles!  ;)

And one should always have a resevoir just in case you run out of booze anyways. Water in abundance underground can keep a fort supplied forever, if disgruntled from lack of booze.

If you download DFhack, I'm pretty sure you can get a plugin that automatically ques up jobs when your stocks dip below a certain point.

One of these days, I'm going to try to see how long a fort can last without any player intervention.

isnt brewing made automatic just by pressing r on the queue screen?

they repeat the task as long as they have ingridients for it...so just place plump helmets into making, have your carpenter make barrels in an infinite loop and you should have your brewer continue working on alcohol for the rest of your life...or until you run out of wood, plump helmets or barrels...which shouldnt happen as long as you have your industry set up proper.

It's quite easy for production to outstrip your stockpiles that way, then production grinds to a halt.

Here's hoping it's something good! My first combat artifact was a copper mace in a fort with spare steel.

I have steel, iron, gold, silver, lead, aluminium and platinum, but he chose nickel silver as a base. Next time, screw the RNG, I'm choosing what its made of. Still, contains cloth and goblin bone, so can't be all bad!

Have just spent 20,000+ on a caravn, discovered the second cavern layer and a magma sea, third(flooded) as I type this and the dwarf whose artifact id pending completion has yet to finish it!

EDIT NO:2: he made the blooming nickel silver helm, Zanosrith. Menaces w/ pikes of goblin bone, so maybe worth a sketch.
"The hopeful bells".

Now I can sleep at last.

The great thing about an armor mood is getting a legendary armorer out of it.

Provided the dwarf was not possessed that is.  (Unfortunately, that is the one exception.)

As for fortress things going on, kinda suffering a cloth shortage, and hoping to fix that with some pig tails in the autumn caravan.

New fort. My caverns are being ambushed.
Apparently. I haven't even struck the caverns. :o
Is this a known bug?

Re: Artifacts: I had two badass artifacts in my last fort, a bone crossbow and an iron breastplate. I'm definitely going to reclaim that fort and hopefully find them.

1) I have no idea how did the outpost liaison across my 16 z levels deep grand moat. Though he couldn't get out without my dorsf building a bridge.

2) No one wanted to build the bridge however. Because they thought they should satrt from another end, where they couldn't reach. So I let them build floors instead.

My soldier landed a gelding blow on a goblin archer. With a silver warhammer.

I would feel sorry for him, but his squad was responsible for my destruction, so... yeah, you deserved it.
