Decided to do this for the heck of it, since it only took a few seconds.

Leader has been stricken with melancholy, and is likely going to fall into the magma sea I found. Damnit, just when I gave him the swordsdawrf's steel sword and bronze gauntlet!

Edit: Wait, he's going up the stairs... oh god, maybe he's going to suicide by giant!?

Also, stoneworker seems to be hanging between very unhappy and unhappy, while the woodworker is still content, and his mood is rising.

Okay, Woodworker and Stoneworker are opposite sexes, so if we can't get any migrants than we might be at least able to make babies.

Looks like the Leader is simply starving himself to death, so we'll still get his gear.

BunnyBunches the Rabbit-Hut

01) Embark
02) 6 Flavors of Hell
03) But mostly he just raged
(The Quote)

So I'm still clearing away the isolation chambers with my one novice miner.
Since everyone else is bored, I order them to start dumping everything onto one spot.
This way, I can get all the resources possible from the chambers before undead yak parts make their nest.
In fact, I've been dumping everything (except food) to one spot for a while now.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

During this time, I get the leader to light up the forge.
I queue up the basic supplies (second pick, woodcutter axe) then basic weapons then basic armor for the militia.
I have big plans for more, but this is all I will have time to complete before the Yaks threaten to die on me.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So far so good.
I eventually get a second miner going, and Sekai becomes a Mason.
I have a food stockpile prepared for the Yak meat, and also beds and training areas.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I get a message about rainfall.
Good, seems that we have normal weather in both our biomes (if you ignore the occasional foul vapor).

It looks like I have undead Wombat Men again. They seem common in mountainous areas.
But they can't get to me, and migrants are still a season away.
Carry on.

My Yak Cow gets hungry first. Cleaver time for you.
She is butchered in containment room Beta.
It goes very well. We haul all the tasty food out, and she doesn't rise even once.
My militia are still ecstatic !
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Shortly after, the Yak Bull gets hungry too.
No, you are not allowed to eat the rabbits' grass.
You serve Rabbit-Hut. Your pieces would better serve Rabbit-Hut elsewhere.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The Yak Bull goes pretty good, even though one piece does raise to temporarily interrupt hauling.

What do you mean enraged ?? (see above above)
When the Yak Bull skin raised, one Dwarf went very unhappy and enraged.
Not sure why a dwarf gets temporarily enraged, maybe I'll check her psyc profile when I get back.
Anyway, her rage seems short lived.
From what I can tell:
1) Yak Bull skin raises
2) Rin Ryoko has become enraged and very unhappy
3) Rin Ryoko hasan chops the Yak Bull skin
4) The pieces spray around
5) Rin Ryoko is no longer enraged, and is actually quite content

So, I guess things are normal.
Did a little bit of the foul vapor sneak in and make him enraged ? I dunno.

Back to work.

What I Did With My Morning

1.  Discovered that brook water is under pressure if the outlet is frozen.
2.  Remembered why I never before put the floodgate lever in the far corner of the well room from the doorway.
3.  Typed "die" into DFHack.

I've been playing nice with the tree huggers so far... Alright, no tree cutting over 120. Hey Urist, how many trees have grown back? 200? well, cut about 100. But now there are three underground soil layers to be harvested. It's strange, those elves don't even know about the underground trees, they never go into caves, they don't grow them underground, but they seem to feel that we cut them. So this year we denied the treaty and cut every damn tree in the above area of the fort and are now starting on the soil layers. Estimated turnout, 3000 logs or more. Hauling them is disabled to get more of the stuff and we'll try to cut it all before the next elf group, keep off meeting with the diplomat etc, then play nice and sign the treaty they bring us for a couple of years untill the stuff grows back and we need trees again.

Dwarven diplomacy in practice

In another embark, I find a giant toad was closing in on my bed area, where most of my dwarves were. Luckily, my Spearman was coming back up to the surface after taking a nap in the caverns (He was getting sleepy as I had him explore the caverns) and I ordered him to attack it.

Now, last time I had a dwarf fight a giant toad, he procedede to be pulverized, and the wiki basicly says they make short work of civilians and more than one soldier should be used to dispatch it even with armour.

So as soon as I unpause, my miner, armed simply with a copper pick, procedes to hit it in the lower body, tearing through the muscle and guts, and opening an artery. The Giant Toad begins to look sick. Then he tears through it's lung, and afterwards basicly pummels it to the ground with no retaliation, then the miner just leaves it alone after it's disabled, and the Spearman finishes it off with a clean shot to the head.

I love these dwarves.

miner dwarfs later drafted into the military are badass

I have around 30 legendary+5 due to excavating 3 soil levels and kicking anyone who reaches that level and replace him/her Anyone messing with this lot is looking for someone digging in their brain.

I really want to go for the HFS with this fort, but fps is at +/- 25, I'm afraid it'll crash, but theres that fance candy sword in a stone to take....... Meh, save and buy a better computer.

FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE FIRE!!!!!!! What just happened!? A Massive fire just sparked outside the fort and all the grass and trees have been burnt to a crisp!

Also I just went from 250 dwarves to 38 in one forgotten beast attack. A giant TITMOUSE that spat poison mist which caused dwarf lungs to dissolve.

In summary: Fun is going on. Lots of !!FUN!!.

A cave crocodile came into my storage area and found an engraver to kill. I had already sent my Speardwarf to attack it, but as the Speardwarf engaged the cave crocodile, so did the cave crocodile engage the engraver.

Que the engraver being mauled to death as the Speardwarf desperatly tries to kill the cave crocodile.
