Right now I have this bronze colossus that has been sitting in my pit for around 5 years now,
He so far has raised 20 elite archers for me, with just about a full screens worth of damage.
And there is more archers to come.. I just need more bolts.

Most my drone dwarves are going on legendary furnace operators, too. All 80 or so.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

currently everyone is dead (save for one mason walled up in the back, slowly starving) in my fort. >.< i had just started up my metal industry and i didn't realize i had struck platinum and it was smelted, then my metal smith went into a strange mood, took the platinum bars and some cut gems and made a wonderfully valuable artifact, then the goblins came and killed everyone because i only had a few cage traps and war-dogs up to protect my fort from thieves and the occasional kea or other animals that might give my dwarves bother... yeah they didn't stand a chance.

Decided to go back to 2010 to give a warhammer 40k themed mod a try.

I must say, graphics packs make my eyes bleed.

Everything was going fine, just repelled a siege of goblins and collected the loot and bodies...then chaos from inside the fort.

Inglish Mebzuthfenglel Etomdorenlanzil Atzul, Blood Beast Planter was his name.

What a crazy fort.

Huh, interesting... I've not had that much experience with the many forces of evil in the new version, but were you using any mods? I want to know what caused this. Any FBs? No evil rains, obviously... Very, very odd.  :o

Inglish Mebzuthfenglel Etomdorenlanzil Atzul, Blood Beast Planter was his name.

So apparently one of my dwarves was cursed with being a Blood Beast and just eliminated a 120+ strong fort on his own (not including war animals and other creatures). The description of him says that "this type of creature is found near the underworld", although the controlled dwarf was a grower that lived near the surface. Not sure how that works out. I didn't see any type of message prior to the grower transforming and slaughtering everybody.  The last thing I did was open the third cavern layer and seal it off.

The damage report on him is a full screen worth of scars, broken bones, dents, fractures, bruises and is missing two pieces: the left leg (all the way to the upper portion) and his left hand. There are still 6 dwarves left alive and a couple of animals, although they are about to be finished by him (he's quite determined to kill EVERYTHING). Even missing a leg doesn't seem to have slowed him down. He's an unstoppable creature of poisonous blood and a lust for combat.

He basically just transformed and started tearing dwarf by dwarf into pieces and consumed their blood. Any thing that he attacked instantly made a cloud of miasma (rotted the flesh immediately), so I couldn't even see what was happening. I still don't even know where or how it came from. The grower in question never left the first 3 layers in all the time he lived in the fort.

I had embarked in an untamed wilds area, nowhere near any evil places. I didn't get into hfs or even find the candy, so running into something this impossible to fight is :/. He just appeared in the middle of the dining room and had his own party. I am greatly confused by this turn of events. Guess I have to start a new fort. I just don't even know how he even.

Edit: Last 2 dwarves alive finally managed to kill him, and then...
A VILE FORCE OF DARKNESS HAS ARRIVED!
Have fun with the blood you guys!

....He can resurrect himself it seems. I was just viewing over his corpse and then he came back to life (not a zombie or anything, so no necromancer hiding). He wiped out the siege party and then died again. Since he was a dwarf, the game ended when he re-died (nobody else was left alive).

What a crazy fort.

have a perfectly trapped entrance to fort, when an undead siege comes along, a good 60 strong. most get caged, and when i start running low on traps, i close the front gate so i can reissue the cages.

well... turns out my perfect defence is not quite so perfect...

apparently i dont have any booze in my base, let alone water, so while i'm waiting for the cages to be restocked, everyone is dying of thirst (instead of placing the cages).

so i opened the front gates and let em storm out. winners get to drink, losers turn into zombies

EDIT: Fortress now down to a managable size of 8, zombies still outside

EDIT2: Finally get it back down to 1 undead roaming my outside, thinking of rebuilding with my remaining 5 (2 still seem to be in a mediocre mood), when lo and behold, another undead siege of 30 zombies. I'm definately reclaiming though :)

The named, exceptional steel spear Mostoddeduk Astelishash, "Shamefulmanors the Allied Cusp," can now claim three megabeast kills to its credit.

A second dragon, Ustra Fireivory the Hot Flare, came to Anvilring with the goal of fricaseeing many dwarves.  It actually succeeding in pan-frying three civilians (including a High Master Wax Worker -- now if only the dragon could have taken out the potash maker as well).  Once Ustra appeared, I ordered all of my civilians to go hide in the civilian hidey hole (also known as the legendary dining room), but three of them didn't make it in time.

My military dwarves came out and bravely fought the dragon.  Once again, that named steel spear is stealing all the credit.

Looking forward to more dragon meat in Anvilring's larders.

Well my all above ground fort has just finished our new goblin siege defense.....

I call it the G.S.M (Goblin Seeking Missile)

It is a line of ballistae along the wall and a total of three z-levels high.
If goblins decide to invade they will get impaled on a wall of ballistae bolts.

Otherwise Construction of the marble appartment buildings is going well and soon all dwarfs will have housing and their own room. As this construction is going on the marble is being supplied while my miners mine out the future colosseum.

Forgotten beast.
Beware its poisonous gas!

QUICK! Do fortifications black poisonous gas? Or do they just make my dwarves easy targets?

C'mon man, use your thinker. Would a wall with gaping holes in block any gas?

'sides, poisonous gas isn't necessarily 'orrible. Could just be a boiling extract with no effect whatsoever.
