RabblerouserGT: The article on the wiki regarding cisterns states that water pumped into one from a stagnant source will only be purified if the destination cistern has never had stagnant water in it before. I took that literally and my well has pure water.
I set it up as so:

Underground cistern. Never had any water in it before. Phyllite walls and floor. Powered by dwarven reactor.
After further research, I think it was overspill from the reactor.

After letting in the new migrant wave, bringing my total population to 241 (Now much higher than that, and with a new migrant wave just arriving), I noticed that the very last migrant to walk through my gates was a lowly farmer.

Yet, much like many others, this farmer had some kills under his belt.
Infact, this farmer had 266, Two Hundred Sixty-Six, kills in the Hills of Praising.

This, "quick to recuperate, but very weak", farmer had murdered at least 30 different species of men and women.

All of these kills puts him at the skill of a Professional Hammerdwarf, Expert Shield User, Expert Armor user, and Great Tracker.

He was quickly enlisted as a new militia captain, and in doing such, he decided to drop some of the items he was carrying.
Out of the 115 Items he was carrying, he chooses to drop 2 pages worth of crowns and earrings.

It turns out this this Murderhappy farmer had turned his kills into clothes, and happened to enjoy wearing 100+ crowns, and a couple earrings.
You might have a vampire on your hands. Watch out!

1. Even completely pure, constructed block cisterns high in the sky can become stagnant. It is a known bug that stagnancy can transmit even without water to water contact.

2. Depends: Were the kills Dwarfs/Elves/Humans? If yes, then probably. If they were animalpeople, then +1 to the Vampire Paranoia Meter.

Not been able to play so came back to scribbled notes about expansion plans, who I suspect is a vampire and what I am going to do about moody dorf who wants what he can't have.

Mass draft, I was able to get some specialists in different areas up pretty early in my fort so everyone else is only good for hauling rocks or dying.

RNG hates me. The stone one was a possession, too. So now I get 5 useless craft artifacts in a row and my bonecrafters are going to freak when my marksdwarves keep breaking their masterwork training bolts. Wonderful.

In my real-life fort, my house. I must be in an evil biome.
My nephew looked outside and yelled "IT'S SNOWING!"

Looked outside..
It's snowing yellow snow... TONS OF IT...
... pollen.

If you can make a funny syndrome-related joke, I will award you with 0 dwarfbucks worth of absolutely nothing.

I know. But he said "men and women". I hadn't thought of stuff like thrips men and stuff.
Before I thought of that, livestock and sentient creatures like dwarves, elves, and humans were the only creatures I knew that could had distinguished male/female members.

Also, vampire paranoia is fun. Kind of like witch paranoia.
... Toady needs to add witches... on second thought, no. I could foresee a ton of Monty Python jokes being funny.. then being overdone.
But it would be awesome to have dwarves randomly turn into named frogs.

One toadifying syndrome coming right up! :D

Spoiler: Witchcraft! (click to show/hide)

Just make a .txt file in your raw/objects folder with the name displayed there at the top. Remember that this name must ALSO be included at the beginning of said file, so paste the ENTIRE contents of the code tags into the file you've named interaction_secrets_witches.txt.

Then make another text file in DF Directory\raw\objects\text and name it secret_witchcraft.txt. Then paste this in as the contents of this file:

Spoiler: secret_witchcraft.txt (click to show/hide)

So, this basically makes a form of necromancer called a 'witch' who will both raise the dead and turn your poor dorfs into gaint toads for 3000 ticks. Fun for the whole family! It'll make them immortal, though.
I didn't use toads themselves because I'm not sure of the implicatons of using a vermin in a werecreature transformation...

For the Toads! :D

Haven't even tested it, though. Good luck...

It's been awhile but I've never had legendary bone carvers get angry about breaking training bolts.  They only seem to get annoyed about gobs leaving the map with them still stuck in but intact, and that is hardly a thought at all since that happens so rarely and they make so many bolts the 'divided by total number of masterworks' bit makes them a complete non issue.  The thought still displays the same, but mechanics wise it's hardly noticeable unless you go atom smashing hundreds at a time.

I think back in 2D that was a problem, but they don't seem to mind at all if the bolts are destroyed by being fired since...probably .31 at least.  Probably around the same time master cooks stopped getting angry about their masterworks being eaten.

So I was breaching magma, finally.. but unluckily, one of my miners caught fire and started melting!
Strategic pond put her out (I think). So she's starting running upstairs. She's bleeding EVERYWHERE SHE GOES!

Guy with the soap is already cleaning up the mess. lol

Anyways, she's going up. I'm like "yes! go to the hospita-" She runs into the dining room, all melty and stuff, and dies of blood loss.
... in front of everyone.

My guess is dwarves who have nasty injuries like that don't go to the hospital until they're unconscious, which triggers the "recover wounded" job.

While digging through caverns to get to the magma, I left a dozen or so floors worth of up/down stairs unprotected from the cavern. A giant cave spider is crawling up the drain.  :o I have no military yet.

Suicide squad spam? I don't want to risk any of the useful dwarves.

Back in DF2010 I had an armorer who was out grabbing a log take an arrow to the neck. She bolted right for the just-finished communal tomb.

Had my umpteenth forgotten beast today. The previous one was still roaming the inaccessible bits of the cavern below and the one before that still existed in lung-form in my food stockpile.

This one was made of onyx. He got beheaded. Which triggered a weak dwarf hauling his 25428-weight"onyx" up a good 40-odd stairs before dumping it on a bone/shell/teeth/horn-pile for my legendary bone carver CMD to work with.

Can I do anything with this onyx? His (also weighty at 1271) head ended up on the refuse pile outside.

I'm surprised it didn't trigger a tantrum spiral. Or at least a wave of unhappy thoughts from people seeing someone die.

I think the opposite happened. It triggered happy thoughts in people who are glad that that didn't happen to themselves. :P

Everything was going fine, just repelled a siege of goblins and collected the loot and bodies...then chaos from inside the fort.

Inglish Mebzuthfenglel Etomdorenlanzil Atzul, Blood Beast Planter was his name.

So apparently one of my dwarves was cursed with being a Blood Beast and just eliminated a 120+ strong fort on his own (not including war animals and other creatures). The description of him says that "this type of creature is found near the underworld", although the controlled dwarf was a grower that lived near the surface. Not sure how that works out. I didn't see any type of message prior to the grower transforming and slaughtering everybody.  The last thing I did was open the third cavern layer and seal it off.

The damage report on him is a full screen worth of scars, broken bones, dents, fractures, bruises and is missing two pieces: the left leg (all the way to the upper portion) and his left hand. There are still 6 dwarves left alive and a couple of animals, although they are about to be finished by him (he's quite determined to kill EVERYTHING). Even missing a leg doesn't seem to have slowed him down. He's an unstoppable creature of poisonous blood and a lust for combat.

He basically just transformed and started tearing dwarf by dwarf into pieces and consumed their blood. Any thing that he attacked instantly made a cloud of miasma (rotted the flesh immediately), so I couldn't even see what was happening. I still don't even know where or how it came from. The grower in question never left the first 3 layers in all the time he lived in the fort.

I had embarked in an untamed wilds area, nowhere near any evil places. I didn't get into hfs or even find the candy, so running into something this impossible to fight is :/. He just appeared in the middle of the dining room and had his own party. I am greatly confused by this turn of events. Guess I have to start a new fort. I just don't even know how he even.

Edit: Last 2 dwarves alive finally managed to kill him, and then...
A VILE FORCE OF DARKNESS HAS ARRIVED!
Have fun with the blood you guys!

....He can resurrect himself it seems. I was just viewing over his corpse and then he came back to life (not a zombie or anything, so no necromancer hiding). He wiped out the siege party and then died again. Since he was a dwarf, the game ended when he re-died (nobody else was left alive).

What a crazy fort.
