Kevak's definition of illusion magic actually makes it weaker overall in my opinion. ((Assuming of course, the following interpretation of the precise mechanisms behind it is correct.))

The fact that it is tied to a target's senses means that it must be applied to every single person separately and will not work on people the caster doesn't notice. Furthermore, constant recalculations would be required to alter the illusion as it or the target moves. Yes, it'd be more effective at blinding since a whole load of nothingness wouldn't need recalculation, but it'd be harder to do any sort of trickery and the issue with blindness is, people would realize that something is blinding them instead of being deceived or anything.

If it had instead been defined as creating a field of distorted reality that gives off sights, sounds, etc. that allude to something that isn't there, it would be arguably more potent as it'd be a one-size-fits-all kind of deal. Doesn't matter if the caster doesn't notice a viewer, doesn't matter where the viewer moves, less recalculation required to move the illusion itself. It'd basically be fire-and-forget.
