You are possessed of a growing impression that something is very wrong with your current location. Your connection to certain unsavory entities seems stronger than usual, but oddly indistinct.

The group gathers together for discussion and analysis of wounds, since they themselves are the only visible points of navigation. It does not seem to be smoky, or particularly dark, but even the floor is quite difficult to make out.  One of the soldiers lights a hand-flare and stoops to examine it, revealing that the ground is composed, not of the speckled bedrock upon which the fort was built, but of something utterly nonreflective, very smooth, and extremely hard.

Another newcomer of extradimensional origin appears, this time from a rather showy portal.  Patham, having just regained consciousness to a splitting headache, snares some of the spare power before whatever force is blocking such things breaks it down, causing the distinctive bluish puff of dissociated quarks.

The two engage in worryingly-off-topic conversation, which incites the Porcine Newcomer to punch Net in the face. Predictably, this does nothing good for his concussion, leaving him with an even worse headache, and some interesting hallucinations.

seeing the strange surface, he would back away from it somewhat fearfully, before realizing that he is no longer in the cavern that he thought he was.

Now the speaker seems amused; "A name of mine? That I certainly will not give without cost, though there are other things I might." Additionally, you note a small chip of the ground-stuff by your feet seems loose.

Having backed slightly away from the others, you notice a definite arcane presence, one of the nastier sort you have occasionally worked with, to the left. They, not being of esoteric learning, would likely not take too much notice if you attempted to investigate, but it seems to be growing closer, so perhaps a warning is in order.

The Ninja-Drinking-Buddy Porkins and Technomagus Patham engage in further cheerful discourse, while the phosphor-tainted smoke of burning zombies wafts to and fro in the breeze.

In the unpleasant dark, Gwolfski finds himself overwhelmed by the idea of triangles, presumably due to an excess of drink, and blacks out, this time more truly. The other four, having dodged, are further bemused by three things; The floor's worrying nature, Foreman Murdoc's newfound habit of talking to the air, and a growing reddish-yellow illuminance to the right.
