Transporter Pro is your friend. Steam fish and dairy before a transport quest for the chance at Felyne Lander plus a couple other skills that might help transporter. Felyne Lander lets you take routes that normally let you skip around large chunks of the level, even after they start getting blocked off.

There was a set posted earlier that had transport pro and marathon runner, which may help. Transport pro / Marathon Runner

Head: Ludroth Cap (Gunner Version) (+3 stam; Non-gunner version is +2)
Chest: Loc Lac (+3 transportr)
Arms: Gypceros (+3 stam)
Waist: Kut-Ku (+3 stam)
Legs: Loc Lac (+5 transportr)
Jewels: Sprinter Jewel +1, Sprinter Jewel +1 (If you used Ludroth Gunner cap don't need this), Transportr Jewel

Of course, this doesn't make them any less boring, just helps get them done quicker.

I forged up that set and added +20 health and immunity to heat / lava to it for kicks. Should make egg quests SOOOO much easier.

Honestly the only one I enjoyed was the one where you steal the eggs from a sleeping Rathian.

At some point far down the singleplayer story you end up having a fight against a rust kushala daora in the battle quarters. You are instructed to use the various artillery pieces against it to take it down. Having G-rank equipment and having some experience with the thing I decided to fight it with my weapon. I dealt enough damage to it to down a G-rank guild version 2-3 times over and it wouldn't die, poisoned it at least 20 times, lost count of the number of times I mounted it, and ages later I figured it was just coded to not die and went to use the artillery after which it died in a cinematic

There was something similar in one of the older games. The Lao Shang Lung (I think that was its name) was programmed to be unkillable until it reaches the very last area, so you can take it down to all but 1 HP and it won't die until it takes one hit in the final area. The problem with this is that if you do enough damage you can flinch it constantly, and if you flinch it constantly you will actually run out of time in the quest before he even reaches the final zone.

At least that unwinnable fight I had was very good practice. I was still learning to use the Insect Glaive properly and it was pretty instructive in its safe useage overall since the target monster was extremely aggressive.

Fun fact: There was an event quest in MHTri to collect 3 eggs. After the first egg, a Rathian would spawn to harass you while you transported more.

There is a mission exactly like that in 4. And one that is worse. 3 eggs with a Frenzied Rathian and Rathalos.

But are they /infinite/ Rathian and Rathalos?

That was the only unusual thing about this mission in Tri. Once you delivered two eggs, Rathian literally would not stop spawning - every time you killed one, which wasn't too hard as it was a LR mission, another would spawn, and this would keep happening until the quest ended.

No, they're finite Frenzied Raths. Killed them both in that mission and delivered all the eggs in peace.

I was NOT prepared for fighting the electric leech thing... I feel like I need a ranged weapon against it.

The Khezu? Yea, it kind of sucks fighting it with any melee that isn't a lance/gunlance since I'm pretty sure you can poke it from outside its shock range and you just block all other attacks. If not, then invest in a light bowgun or a hunting bow and stay out of its range, just be ready to dodge when it leaps from the ceiling.

So I've been trying to capture the damned giant flash bird.  Random parties are no good, no one knows how to capture anything.  Anyone wanna help?
