That Cavalier class cruiser shook again as multiple warheads penetrated the point-defense shield. Sirens blared as the electro-magnetic shield failed. Multi-megaton explosions impacted the already-cracked armour, echoing through the hull of the ship. Had any of the crew been near one of the reinforced windows, they would have seen glittering yellow beams appear as though from no where. As each beam struck, the troopers could hear a faint sizzle and hiss, as delicate electronic systems fizzled and died.
Waiting in the new-darkened muster room, the troopers saw silently. Some prayed to the Great Hunter for a chance to meet the enemy before the battle was done.
A pricking of the ears. A lifting of heads. The background drone was gone. Never missed until it stopped, the mighty engines were dead. The Cavalier was dead in space. The Battle Sergeant barked a harshly. The squad of troopers quickly donned helmets and hoisted their weapons. Snarling, they filed out and through the corridors, now lit only with dim emergency lighting.
Groans of twisting metal echoed through the structure of the ship. Following the short commands of the Battle Master, the troopers took up positions, weapons trained, at a slowly bending and groaning section of the outer hull.
Without warning, the outer hull bulged, and blew inwards in a blinding flash. Through the smoke and debris, a tall figure, wrapped in shadows and bearing a huge two-handed weapon of ancient lineage strode through gap. As the troopers charged into battle against the black-clad horror, they heard the words that would strike terror into all their kind:
"Fuuuus Roh DAH!!"
