On the Pokemon, for the Athl, Acro, Combat, Stealth, etc. stats, it says stuff like 1d6 + 2, are we meant to roll that to determine that stat, or is that what gets rolled every time that skill is checked?

It's the roll for the skill, I believe.

Yes, but loyalty is meant to start at 2. The issue is that Riolu evolves at *3* which is directly after, and probably the easiest loyalty rank to get to. (All you need to do is treat the Pokemon fairly well. It does take time, but not a massive amount of it.)
So unless my Riolu starts out with a loyalty of 1 or 0 (which is insane), his loyalty growth will have to be gated artificially for a while. That's why I was saying that it would make sense to either add in another condition (E.g. level 20 or something) or increase the loyalty requirement.
Unless the GM decides to not bother with loyalty changes until a while into the campaign, in which case I guess it's fine.
With your backstory, it seems the loyalty wouldn't be very high anyway

I kind of wrote that in to give you options. I'd prefer to not have to deal with a Loyalty 1 Pokemon right off the bat, but I guess it could be rationalized to explain the Riolu's slower loyalty growth.

*Edit*

Anyway, starter sheet going up. I didn't randomize anything.

Let me know if I've missed anything. I'd also like to request the more experienced people to look at my stats and tell me if I've screwed them up terribly. It may be a massive mistake to have defense so low, but I'm not sure due to my own inexperience.

Pokémon start with 1 tutor point and gain 1 extra tutor point every 5 levels.

And given what you can use the tutor points for they are absolutely valuable (for example at level 60 you can use three tutor points to give your Pokémon double abilities).

There are also some tutor point sinks that just take tutor points and don't give a pokemon any benefit or has a net gain of 0.

I think if I was making the rulebook what I'd do is give pokemon two sets of points. That way you can use the Mentor abilities and change your pokemon's nature or gives them tutor moves and the others that give your pokemon abilities directly.

Also I am stealing your cheet UXLZ

You can randomly chose my pokemon's basic ability if you want, as well as its gender... and Even Nature (though I will be really sad if I get a whammy)

In fact... let me roll...

Thickfat, Male, and... Decisive (HP up, Special defense down)

Ok I'll use it.

Alright, here's my starter sheet. I forgot that Zubat has basically no good offensive moves for a while. This will be interesting.

Ok, here's whats needed:

Toby has one extra HP more then what he should have since decisive gives him a +1 to HP, not a +2

Bruce is one over on his stat increase count. For a placeholder, I lowered speed unless you want to lower another one

I've yet to look at Kunoku, will do when I can

I'm tempted to have a rival team made by other people and not based on the whole "my guy is better then yours! haha!" It would change things up for sure. Another idea is run a second game in the same world but at key points, the two teams battle it out on the same thread. It would be awesome, but it would be chaotic as hell and I wouldn't be able to run both at once

Are there any rules on forming groups? Are we going to be part of one big group?
