Best. Misspell. Ever.
I'm amazed that I have not noticed this is an anagram until now.

So what are religious peoples standing on alcohol?

I believe that it's ok to drink but not to the point of getting drunk.
Drinking a bit is fine as long as you do not intend to or drink enough to get drunk/impare your self (mostly your decision making which can be affected by getting drunk.)
There is a Jewish holiday where adults are supposed to get drunk, and blessings over wine are important for Shabbat. Also for Passover and others

Aaaaaaaaand this time I got called in for a derail.

Please stay on topic.  If you want to have a massive conversation about vegetarianism and stuff, make a thread for it.

Sorry for the delayed response, I was watching the Battle of Five Armies.

The derail was already well over.

I wish people would stop narcing on every single thing they don't like in this thread.

Well, in this case, it's the thread's rules. It isn't intended to be a free-for-all.

Any big questions I missed while asleep?

yea but it was well over with, this is getting ridiculous.

Also, it is hard to ask questions when you have to worry about everyone you ask questions of complaining and getting you in trouble because they don't like your tone.

Currently, I have no idea how to phrase questions to not get in trouble, because different things will ruffle different peoples' feathers.

There needs to be a way we can actually know what questions are outright off limits, how many posts on a side issue is considered a derail, and apparently a lot of other ridiculously detailed issues because this all feels very arbitrary. I was okay with the moderation style early on, but when I can't even ask actual questions without the thread being locked and getting yelled at because someone complained... that's not conducive to any sort of discussion at all. A few people get to preach their values and I learn nada about the details I am interested in.

You're not in trouble? 4maskwolf was talking about the derail, not problems with you asking questions.
Unless something else happened that I missed, it sounds more like your questions being vague or nonspecific.

earlier he warned me, and it was not at all expected. He's locked the thread twice now in the past couple of hours. I think it's been excessive.

Earlier she asked me (4~5?) questions at once
The first couple were on topic the other three made it feel like she was tearing at my religion and badgering me. 4mask gave her a warning

You could always ask one question at a time

She

Also, that's not at all in the rules. It would be kind of a silly rule imo, but if he adds it, I will abide by it, and I will try to restrict my questions to you specifically to one at a time in general. But if I am directing my questions at all christians, I'll probably still throw as many in there as I can think of.

what are your thoughts on Lillith, in that case, and her expulsion?

You mean Lilith, the demon, or Lilith from the Chroninicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis?

In jewish mythology she's a demon who rapes men in their sleep and murders children. This whole 'first wife of Adam' thing was a piece of fiction that somebody mistakenly took for religious dogma and ran with.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith

"Lilith (Hebrew: לילית‎; lilit, or lilith) is a Hebrew name for a figure in Jewish mythology, developed earliest in the Babylonian Talmud, who is generally thought to be in part derived from a historically far earlier class of female demons Līlīṯu in Mesopotamian Religion, found in Cuneiform texts of Sumer, Akkad, Assyria and Babylonia."

"In the Bible
The only occurrence is in the Book of Isaiah 34:14, describing the desolation of Edom, where the Hebrew word lilit (or lilith) appears in a list of eight unclean animals, some of which may have demonic associations."

"In Jewish folklore, from the 8th–10th century Alphabet of Ben Sira onwards, Lilith becomes Adam's first wife, who was created at the same time (Rosh Hashanah) and from the same earth as Adam. This contrasts with Eve, who was created from one of Adam's ribs. The legend was greatly developed during the Middle Ages, in the tradition of Aggadic midrashim, the Zohar, and Jewish mysticism.[3] For example, in the 13th century writings of Rabbi Isaac ben Jacob ha-Cohen, Lilith left Adam after she refused to become subservient to him and then would not return to the Garden of Eden after she coupled with the archangel Samael.[4] The resulting Lilith legend is still commonly used as source material in modern Western culture, literature, occultism, fantasy, and horror."

Incidentally, none of us would ever have even heard of that obscure bit of folklore if it hadn't been popularized by the Chronicles of Narnia:

http://narnia.wikia.com/wiki/Lilith

"Lilith was said to be the first woman created by God, and the first wife of Adam (before Eve), which Mrs. Beaver refers to her as such."

This is basically the Disnified version of a folk story from almost a thousand years after the bible.

wow you're totally right, the Lilith that was adam's first wife was written way later. Fascinating.
