: "That makes a certain amount of sense. Well, I am glad to see that everyone is okay. We had started to get worried after we finished dealing with the bandits and found the village completely empty."

"Those bandits ain't going to be a problem any more. We kicked their asses from pillar to post and then some."

He realized he had basically said the same thing Amberly just said and shrugged, moving on to a different topic.

"Speaking of chairs and such, any place we can sit down and rest awhile? I need to cool down a bit. This heat ain't helping me any."

[Haspen]

The Abbess looked around and then back at Beryn.

"Oh, sit anywhere, the corridor is quite big! And the stone floor is extra chilly." The sassy old woman chuckled once more.

"Naw, it would take a bit more than a bunch of grumpy bandits to do us any harm. So, are you staying with us this time or do I have to prepare another parting gift? Besides that... what was it called..."

"The word you're looking for is Phasor." The Abbess jumped in terror.

"Gah! What is that walking bucket!?"

"The bucket isn't a bucket and is called Margaret. Pleasure, ma'am." The Abbess squinted eyes at Margaret.

[Sirus]

: "She's a sort of artificial person, Revered Abbess," Amberly explained. "She's helping us to follow DeMurray's instructions in order to stop the Old Gods."

[GiglameshDespair]

"..."
"I t-think D-Demura called t-them A-Android P-people?"

[Haspen]

"Hmph, well as long as she doesn't druid anything around! Last thing I need here is mechanical black magician running around."

"...Android. Android."

"Druid, droid, same thing! If you people need tea or food, I have can some acolytes to arrange a meal in an hour or two. Come, Amberly, and Margaret the Droid, I will show you the... phasor thing." Abbess paced away, and Margaret clunked after her.

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Food and tea sounds pretty damn good right now, thanks."

After exchanging a look with Fer, Amberly followed the Abbess.

[Haspen]

Abbess thus guided everyone to the main hall. Once a hapless acolyte passed nearby, Abbess instructed her to bring food and tea for the guests.

"And you two with me, Amberly and droid!"

Tap tap tap.

Clunk clunk clunk.

Creeeeaaak.

And they were back in the hall where the ancient machine was hidden. The moving wall, of course, was obscuring it. Abbess then opened a small crate and pulled out a slim-looking, metallic object. It looked like a horn with a small tip coming out from one side and the other having a wavy surface.

"That is a handheld phasor alright."

"So you can operate it?"

"Of course! But I have my own weapons in my armor. I think Amberly could have it, I have noticed that her magic is not particularily effective."

Amberly receives Hand Phasor!

Amberly grimaced. She knew her magic was weak, and she knew the others knew it, but they didn't have to say it out loud like that.

: "I appreciate the offer, Madam Margaret, but you should use it instead. I won't be joining you; I've decided to stay here."

"Can't be! Amberly refusing to go out and adventure about! Who are you and what you did with my apprentice?"

[Sirus]

: "I discovered that I'm not all that suited for adventure. As Margaret already mentioned, I lack the ability to contribute to the group's success. I am a burden. Even if I were not, my presence in the group is disruptive and many of them either dislike my vocation or me personally. Add in the truth of the Old Gods on top of all this, proving my lifelong belief to be a sham...and my dreams of adventure are revealed for the childish fantasies they were. I worry that if I go with them, I will cause them to fail at a critical point and the Old Gods will destroy our world unopposed."

Tea in teacups and small chewy breads biscuits with meat in them were brought and placed at the table.

"My poor poor Amberly. You did help them on the road and you have met with Demura in person, so I think that's pretty big adventure for such a small girl. Wait, did you tell them that you're leaving? If not then I want to see you on the way to the great hall in next five seconds!"
