1440 Pikemen
720 Light Infantry
720 Crossbowmen
1620 Artillerymen (648 Ballistas)

And that'll change to the numbers below:
1440 Pikemen
720 Light Infantry
1440 Crossbowmen
900 Artillerymen (360 Ballistas)
Go for it, but stop calling them 'Light Infantry' just because they're lighter than your pikemen. That's like complaining you have no food because you had 5 cakes and then an hour later you finished eating all the cakes. Personally, I think the Rome 2 descriptors should be used but at least call them Heavy Infantry because they wear mail and plate and neither of them is 'light'.

EDIT: I just thought of something, Taricus. Your pikemen should not be able to run. At all. The only other humans to wear that much armour needed horses to move around at all. If the GM still allows for foot soldiers to be armoured so heavily and still be able to move, I demand that they at least not be allowed to run.

The Sigylguard delegate reads the offer carefully.

"Let me consider this for a moment..."

He retires to his quarters in the hall.

Across the world, back in the Sigylguard mountains, the Demestris armies, all separately camped, have begun packing it up and preparing to head home. Suddenly, unexpectedly, in one of the camps, men are dying and tents are burning. 250 Watchers and 50 Reciters had sneaked into the camp, and started wreaking havoc among the organized soldiers. As a small pocket of resistance starts to form, 2000 infantry men charge out of the brush to finish job. Having much lighter equipment than the average Demestris soldier, it should be an easy victory. As the other camps gain word of this, the Sigylguard forces will quickly withdraw into the forest, heading back towards the rendezvous point.

The other half of the Sigylguard host attempts to do this to another outlying army, at around the same time. Again, equipment being much better suited to the mountains should secure this for us, along with the element of surprise. It's very different fighting a battle after sitting around a warm fire, with a warm meal in your belly, and 10 hours of sleep, than it is fighting drowsy, hungry and cold.

Sigylguard does not officially answer Demestris. Military recruiting ramps up in the capital.

((Of course, all of that is redacted if the armies camp together, although I'm not sure they could up in the mountains.))

((Equipment for Sigylguard units, real quick now.

VH Infantry: Plate armor, Chain mail, Two-Handed Axe, Sword. (During the camp attack, they don't wear chain or carry the axe, because obviously.)
Infantry: Sword or War Axe, Shield, Dirk, Chain mail.
Watchers: Sword, buckler, dagger, longbow, leather armor.
Engineers: Sword, buckler, leather armor, tools. (Didn't take tools on attack because...well.))
Reciters: 1.5 sword, shield, full leather with a chain shirt and a helm. Copy of a single text from the Sigyls, memorized and recited in monotone harmony.))

If the units are redguards they can basicaly wear a whole suit of knights armor and move perfectly fine
If they are elves, good luck getting them to move wearing chain mail let alone plate

Humans can wear what humans normally do

For the armies that are going to be fighting
I would like a short run down of what your army is

Sigylguard Army:
1000 Very Heavy Infantry - Efficient Training (Sigylshields)
3150 Infantry - Normal Training
500 Watchers (Mountain Rangers, basically. Archers or light infantry.) - Efficient Training
250 Engineers (Artillery) - Normal Training
100 Sigyl Reciters, plus Generals. - Specialized

Sigylguard forces refuse to engage in combat with the Demestris forces, retreating further up the mountains, and spreading out. Watchers harass the enemy, attacking foraging parties, while the engineers collapse pathways and set traps.

((Does that look decent?))

IC, I find it doubtful the entire army would be able to get out of the mountains in a day, so the attack should still be very possible.

That brings up some questions I wanted to ask: How many of your population are redguards and how many are humans? How many of your military are redguards and how many are humans? These questions also apply to Sigylguard.

Basically, the armies moved into Sigylguard, and then moved right out and into the lands of the Council of Other. I have Council of Other Mountain Scouts so it shouldn't be a problem.

Ok. Unfortunately, I'm going to ask for a retcon. Here's why:
    Quote
VH Infantry: Plate armor, Chain mail, Two-Handed Axe, Sword. (During the camp attack, they don't wear chain or carry the axe, because obviously.)
    • They VH Infantry are still aren't wearing chain or have the axe but are still wearing plate. That should've made noise.
    Quote
Infantry: Sword or War Axe, Shield, Dirk, Chain mail.
    • The Infantry have chain mail, so noise.
    Quote
Reciters: 1.5 sword, shield, full leather with a chain shirt and a helm. Copy of a single text from the Sigyls, memorized and recited in monotone harmony.))
    • More noise
    On the 5th
    Quote
Begin training of approx. 100 troops, focusing on survival, first aid and non-lethal combat, with non-lethal combat being the most heavily focused on thing.
    On the 7th:
    Quote
Core of 400 people, 200 of those exploratory troops

So you got a grand total of 500 people, with 100 combat medics, 200 troops who dont want to kill anyone unless it is the only way to save more people, and 200 scouts...
[The military of the Council of Other is absorbed into the Fourth Army.]
    • You would've had to roll to see which of the five armies you targeted. If you targeted the Fourth Army, you would've had to deal with the fact that scouts from Other - a city state that also resides in the West Mountains - are present and might've seen your army.
    • It's common practice for Demestris camps to set up a watch. ESPECIALLY when they're in enemy territory. DOUBLE ESPECIALLY when the enemy territory happens to be mountains and the soldiers are already paranoid about ambush.
the Demestris armies, all separately camped, have begun packing it up and preparing to head home.
    • There's a few problems with this. Firstly, the armies are camped as closely together as possible so that the Great King and the Generals can co-ordinate troop movements, strategy, tactics, etc. better as well as to provide security in numbers. The entire Sigylguard army outnumbers any single Demestris army after all. Secondly, they were packing up and ready to leave...in hostile territory. Sure they made an offer of peace but Sigylguard has done nothing to suggest that they will accept the peace so until then they're still on high alert. If they're already getting up then they're getting up and getting ready to march through territory that allows them to be ambushed at any moment. Finally, they're not preparing to head home, they're preparing to go to the Council of Other. That place is only 'home' for about 500 men in the army of over 15,000. A trip that should not be as difficult as usual what with the fact that few of my troops are too heavily armored and that we have genuine West Mountain scouts. 200 of them.
IC, I find it doubtful the entire army would be able to get out of the mountains in a day, so the attack should still be very possible.
    • They spent, like, a day in the mountains and then started to leave - or just left - the next day. It's entirely possible the ambush wasn't even possible in the first place.
    • My final point is that ambushes should have a chance of success with modifiers. This one was basically just insta-won with no chance of failure despite the many variables involved.
I should probably mention again that I want that ambush retconned.

If the units are redguards they can basicaly wear a whole suit of knights armor and move perfectly fine
If they are elves, good luck getting them to move wearing chain mail let alone plate

Humans can wear what humans normally do
    I like this system.

For the armies that are going to be fighting
I would like a short run down of what your army is
((Just post something similar to the post just a bit ago with the infantry type and numbers))
Is this addressed to me as well? Because I've been writing that stuff down over and over. *sigh* Guess I'll do it anyway. Actually, it's good I did. I needed to standardise equipment and increase the weight of one of my units (the bodyguard).

There are FIVE armies in the active armed forces of Demestris.
    This is ONE army:
250 Very Heavy Infantry - Efficient Training
1,000 Heavy Infantry - Standard Training
    1,250 Archers - Standard Training
500 Heavy Melee Cavalry - Standard Training
General and Bodyguard - 50 Very Heavy Melee Cavalry - Specialised Training

Very Heavy Infantry - Sword, tower shield, full helm, chain mail tunic, greaves, vambraces.
Heavy Infantry - Sword, shield (hoplon, aspis, thureos), 3/4 helm, chain mail tunic.
Archers - Sword, bow + arrows, half helm, chain mail shirt.
Heavy Melee Cavalry - Cavalry sword, spear, thureos shield, 3/4 helm, chain mail tunic.
General and Bodyguard - Cavalry sword, spear, thureos shield, 3/4 helm, chain mail tunic, greaves, vambraces.

EDIT: A half helm is basically a bike helmet or maybe something a bit fuller. A 3/4 helm is like a legionary helmet or a Corinthian helmet. A full helm is like one of those all-enclosing ones found in the middle ages used to get to the battlefield.[/list]

It will be in the plains
It will only be about 1,000 soldiers per army
    Choose whatever you want
I need two nations for this, border restrictions do not apply so I just need two for
