On an unrelated note, I do think I've stumbled across the best way to keep our politics threads from continually getting locked, though.  This should work wonders.

Oh, how odd; they must have been mislabeled.  They're what came up when I searched Rossia Pacifica.

The common name for Rossia Pacifica is "stubby squid".

The relationship is that cuttlefish, bobtail squid (which includes Rossia Pacifica), and true squid are all separate Orders in the same Superorder. Therefore Rossia Pacifica isn't technically a cuttlefish. Everything in the same order as Rossia Pacifica traditionally has the name "squid" attached on the end rather than anything else.

However the classification is controversial, similar to how pandas were bears, then weren't bears, then DNA proved them to be bears again. Maybe bobtail squid will be classed as cuttlefish in the future.

I suppose that makes sense; After all, I just realized that the stubby squid doesn't have the 'w' shaped pupils that true cuttlefish do.
