Alright, to be specific - sarcasm directed at the spelling of someone's country.

It's not misguided patriotism on my part - it's a political point. Those who say North Ireland or North of Ireland tend to be angling for a merger with Ireland.

Besides, the name legitimately is Northern Ireland. To call it anything else is to...you know, be wrong. Heh.

Same problem, I'd imagine. Besides, Eire is the name given to the Irish Republic State, or the Free State. Not Northern Ireland.
