Just discovered I could butcher and eat goblins. Was sure that wasn't possible before...

Oh well. Shifty guy. He yielded after I killed his companion, then attacked me when I turned to walk away.

So the Undead don't ignore necromancers anymore?

I put all my points into ambushing, and of course, one to reading.
Asked everyone in the whole fortress I started in to come along, stormed the tower, while sneaking but everyone else stormed the tower.
Found the book with the secrets in it, it said i'd learned them, take three steps towards the door, an elf corpse spots me, then I'm dead.
my icon is a wiggly topped N after I'm dead which suggests I was a necromancer.

Undead have affiliation? remember friends and allies or something?
since all their minions hate them

I am kinda new to this.. and I thought zombies were brain-less creatures incapable of emotions hate/love... Or is it unintended behaviour ?

Currently, undead don't respect the whole master/minion relationship because bugs.

I've fought a group of giants now, and I must say I'm pretty disappointed.  They generally pass out after you stab them once or twice, and after that point they're basically just a human except you have to stab them in the throat to watch them bleed out slowly rather than decapitate them.  Large creatures should probably have better pain thresholds.

ALL creatures should have better pain thresholds. The current state of "first painful hit wins" might be an ACCURATE combat system, but its sort of boring for a game. I'm thinking that maybe pain threshold should be made into an attribute, like recuperation and strength. That way, hardened warriors would be able to shrug off blows that would incapacitate peasants while civilians are more vulnerable to that sort of thing. That plus the new Discipline skill would make militias take longer to ramp up to the unstoppable fury they eventually become, although both of these measures should be balanced better then the current iteration.

Pain resistance IS technically an attribute - Willpower.
Adventurers typically have at least High Willpower, while randomly-generated people can have a wide range.
Still, Willpower should be easier to train, and minor injuries should hurt less.
A broken finger will cause extreme pain and suffering, but it shouldn't always lead to fainting.
The sight of blood would do it for some.
Either way, it needs some balancing, since I win fights with a swift punch to the foot.
"You punch the X in the left/right foot and it explodes in gore!"
"X gives in to pain"
"X falls over"
And then it's just punches to the head until THAT explodes in gore.

I wouldn't call it accurate. For as long as I've been playing the guy to score the first real hit was the victor 9/10 times but what constitutes a real hit has been seriously relaxed. If I knew anyone whose broken toe caused them to pass out only to wake up and pass out again I would laugh at them forever.

I've been killed in the same tower three times because a random zombie managed to punch my hand and cause me to black out instantly. That is both ridiculous and hilarious at the same time, but annoying. It's even worse because it seems you must catch their fist to stop a punch instead of blocking or parrying, like any attack with a weapon. Gonna have to search some goblin territory for armor that fits my dwarf.

So it's possible to have a dwarven kingdom be just a camp.
and your dwarf king high up in a tree.

Now the backstory for this I haven't dive into but my hunch is 2 dwarf kingdoms pretty much super expanded and overthrown the world, while one kinda got the shaft and now just a hut in a 1x1 area in gobbo country.
the king doesn't even concider the camp a home. such a poor dwarf king.

I just had something like that too.

Started from a human "cave" on the coast in some despoiled land. Upon entering said cave, I start meeting soldiers, and eventually, an overlord. They (a bandit group apparently) had set off to the site to claim it, since it had been laying abandoned some 60 odd years after the Cyclops living there got ganked. When I spoke to him, he'd just ay "Wait til I get home!" and then proceed about how they just conquered that site.

I'm guessing these are figures caught mid-action at the end of world generation. Given a few more years they might have established a site with some buildings and people. As it is, you get a king in a tree, and an overlord in a cave.

HOLY SWEET BABY JESUS!

46: Darmadlesno, "Grandforest", town
Owner: The League of Song, humans
Parent Civ: The Oceanic Empires, humans
   lady: Atal Whisperschannel, human
   !!941000 humans!!
   685 dogs
   460 cats
   50 mules
   648 turkeys
   497 ducks
   39 olm man outcasts
   18 reptile man outcasts
   53 cave fish man outcasts
   17 rodent man outcasts
   16 serpent man outcasts
   65 human outcasts

That's where the vampire tyrant that I hope to overthrow lives. Keep in mind he's killed eight hundred of them himself.

My theory is that they're refugees and the game is bad at explaining that to you.

Just genned a small region with unlimited population and site cap and 20 civs.. Lots of human and dwarf towers.. First one was a human necromancer with ten or twelve human followers and a dwarf.. Next one I was properly greeted by corpses at the entrance.. Left there and checked the next tower and found more human corpses at the door. Had one follow me outside so we could battle it out.. After forty or fifty turns of the undead human either taking my (godly war-trained) axe-blows in stride, or the corpse seamlessly deflecting them away with its copper pickaxe, it charges me, knocks me down, punches my left foot into an explosion of gore.. I pass out and it drives the pick through my skull :>

Why couldn't that have happened before fifty turns of totally lame low-to-no damage combat?! :> Thats the most talented, coordinated, frisky corpse I've ever seen ;)
