Spoiler: Starting Deployment (click to show/hide)

Your forces deploy in a sparse fashion focused on the western portion of the fortress, and the gate located there while a basic force consisting of two light infantry, and the turncoat militia units prepare to move up the center to act as a diversion for the assaulting force. Starting out most of your artillery units move into position in the rear most forest and begin to prepare for bombarding the gates while the remainder of your units begin a cautious advance forward, within moments you find that the western gate is closed and looks as if it hasn't been opened in many years while the eastern main gate is wide open. The walls themselves appear deserted as if no one is even occupying the fortress ...

NOPE. NOTHING BAD COULD HAPPEN.

Wait for about an hour; see if anything moves on the walls. At the end of the hour, have a scout inspect the western gate further. Then if he survives have him check the eastern gate. If nothing happens, advance cautiously. If we are able to move everyone up to the gate without a hitch, evaluate the situation and we'll do stuff on the next turn.

This, so much.

Sit in the forest and wait for something to move.

You know, they aren't going to pay us if we take to long...

I think we have around a week, maybe a bit less now.

Presumably this is day one, and these rounds only last minutes real time. Relax.

Rounds last anything from a few minutes to a few hours, its an abstraction of the time it takes to move, reposition, fire, etc. for all units so I don't really have any set time for rounds. In total you guys have a roughly 80 round time limit to take the fortress, which might vary based on the reports you give since your benefactors will in fact contact you to see how the fighting is going, I mean you could lie to them but if they found out things might not be to pleasant for you ...

Could you give us a map key for which units are which please? It would help make things a bit easier.

I vote for my previous plan, if we make contact - for right now I agree. We should advance with caution, and see if we can surprise them without having to fight.

PTW. Seems interesting, considering I was working on my own multi-player strategy(?) game.

+1 to waiting to see if anything moves on the walls.

I would ask why fire can burn two men to death without getting hot enough to burn a book, but then I read "INEXTINGUISHABLE RUNNING KAMIKAZE RADIOACTIVE FLAMING ZOMBIE" and realized that logic, reason, and physics are all occupied with crying in the corner right now.

Bump for update. After an hour of waiting and watching have a turn coat militia creep carefully up to the opened gate, looking for traps, mines, and enemy movement.
