Just one more bump, in case people missed that the game is under new management.
Anyway, if your main problem with the game was the pace, you should definitely give it another go. The new devs have taken a number of steps to accelerate the early game. Walking speed has been doubled, there's a new broken bough inspirational that gives points in every proficiency and is very easy to get (you get 2-3 per inventory worth of picking branches) so you can use it to bruteforce the early skills (it's not very efficient to spam later on, though), you can remove the gluttony cooldown and instantly refill inspiration with potions, herb and animal spawns have been increased so there's less time spent walking looking for something specific, trees and shrubs refill their limited products (maple leaves, berries etc) in only a couple of days rather than a couple of weeks, and haystacks have been implemented which turn 1 grass into 1 hay rather than having to craft hay with 5 grass (you can still do it if you need hay right away, haystacks take 2 days to dry) - and if you ever tried pushing influence on fields you know that large quantities of hay are a must. The late game has been slowed down a bit, though, by introduction of some high end skills that require ridiculously high proficiencies, but none of these skills is really a must have.
