Outside the Opposing Compound
Cromwell, followed by Clair, started moving around the building, keeping his head down looking for a window. There didn’t appear to be any guards posted, so it was easy enough to progress undetected. The lack of guards shouldn’t have surprised him though. After all, the inn was unguarded. The first window he found looked in at a fairly large room. There was a small amount of light, and he could see two figures hunched over a table with a candle on it. This afforded him the perfect view as
Kyle fell into the door, playing the part of a drunk. Cromwell could hear some grumbling from the two men as they walked over to the door. Cromwell heard two more loud thuds, and he thought Kyle was probably overdoing it, but in reality
Joe had tripped into the door, followed abruptly by
Will tripping into Joe.
Spurred on by the loud noises,
Cromwell moved around to the back of the compound and found six windows. Each looked in on a bedroom. Two of these bedrooms were unoccupied at the moment, two of them contained individuals getting out of bed, annoyed by the noises, and two contained figures remaining in their bed. One of the figures getting out of bed grabbed a rapier from off a table in its quarters, while the other didn't appear to grab any weaponry.
Clair continued on and saw a bushy looking tree that looked suspiciously like it could be hiding something. Indeed, she found a door behind it, which appeared to have not been properly locked by the last person to pass through it. It opened into a small, dark corridor which, if she judged correctly from the small glances she had taken through the windows, was adjacent to the large room that was central to the building.
At the front of the compound the three remaining mercenaries were met by two annoyed looking men, one brandishing a hammer menacingly and the other with a quarterstaff strapped across his back. They appeared to believe the drunken ruse Kyle put on, substantiated by Joe and Will falling over each other. It was far too dark for them to make out that the group was armed. As a result, they turned their backs briefly on the three as they prepared to walk back into their building.
On the Beaches of Varisport
The
wandering spirit wandered the beaches before it found a group of mana crabs crawling around a group of boulders, clearly responsible for the fact that these boulders hadn’t been harvested yet. They seemed unaware of the ghost who slipped amongst them and into one of the boulders, absorbing one of the crystals it found within. The spirit could feel in itself the ability to push and pull physical objects, but also felt the pang of hunger for more charges before it expended any energy on these tasks. It was followed in this task by a
dreaming soul sporadically throwing random images around.
