Are there still plans to do a Surgeon Simulator-esque "eat dinner without breaking any etiquette" stage?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Something like that? I did those in a few minutes and if you would like I could make some more, better, ones.

Those would be great. The logs get crowded fast, so those would be perfect for representing what's going on. Right now I could use some for Very Happy, Happy, Neutral, Angry, Very Angry.

Are there still plans to do a Surgeon Simulator-esque "eat dinner without breaking any etiquette" stage?
Yes. That will probably be in a later stage though.

An update on what I've done / what I'm doing

Planned (near future)
Graphic for how full the wine glass is
Have small popups to show happy or sad with other country’s interactions. The logs are an incomprehensible mess.
Have mouseovers on other diplomats that shows what they think of you.
Give other countries intelligent interactions. Right now they just use random etiquette.

Complete
Generation of country names
Generation of country preferences
Generation of country relations
Interface to display country relations
Interface to interact with other countries
Checking for duplicate names
Interactions affect country’s allies
Space dismisses one notification, as they tend to pile up
Added a maximum of logs to display of 10
Prevented you from interacting with a country repeatedly. Otherwise, you can find out what gives a boost and just take that action repeatedly and increase your relations forever.
Interactions between other countries. This will give you a clue as to what the proper response should be, instead of just random guessing.
Have other countries mill about. Right now the only way to get them to interact is to knock them into another diplomat.
Have other countries pause their movement when talking to another country

We'll have to manually do it when we post, the OP abandoned.
I deny your harshly worded accusations and you will be hearing my stern nuclear rebuke in the morning.

Then I'll go make models or something.

Those look great. Is there any chance that you have a higher res version stashed away somewhere? Do you have them as individual images? No big deal at all if you don't, but if there's a chance I can be lazier, I'll gladly take it.

I'd still love to contribute by any means possible.

I love creating concept art and pitching ideas, although my artwork tends to be... rudimentary.

I might put up some doodles later to make sure I have the right idea here.

So, how're the random countries working? Their culture will be randomly generated like their names, right?

I decided to make some music for this.

I can provide an OGG version on request and stuff like that. I thought something jazzy might fit the mood . . .

This music fits the tone perfectly. I'll definitely implement it soon, so I would love an ogg. If inspiration hits again, please make more music. A minute and a half loop will probably grate on people's nerves after a while of gameplay, so more would be great.

Come up with ideas for more things that a diplomat would look for. I only have two things.

New Release
It's still unplayable, but I've added a host of new features:
Checking for duplicate names
Interactions affect country’s allies
Space dismisses one notification, as they tend to pile up
Added a maximum of logs to display of 10

Tomorrow I'm to get to work on improving the "mingling" stage (all that's in so far) to a point where understanding what's going on is reasonable, even if it's lacking in content and not polished. That will pave the way for the "dinner" stage, which will look much more like surgeon simulator.

I didn't get that bug running 32bit Linux, for what it's worth.

Also this looks absolutely hilarious, I will watch with interest.

E: Wait, now I do get that bug. Never mind, I guess.

Willfor, that's pretty damn awesome. It would be great if there were a few more pieces for different situations (i.e. a more frantic tune when you've messed up.)

Well, let's see... they'd want trade agreements and alliances.. other than that... well, if the slightest faux pas causes the world to be nuked, I guess that they'd be on the fence about war. That would mean that either each country is on the brink except for yours, or one country wants to go to war and no one else's does, but would do it in self-defense. After all, the prevention/stoppage of war is one of the foremost jobs of diplomats.

Or, it could be that these diplomats simply cannot bear to live in a world without proper manners.

If we have random likes/dislikes, maybe a difficulty level (normal being that each diplomat dislikes about 50% of all possible items).

"Insane" would be 80~90% of actions causing dislike.
