Who used 25 foot vessels to go a few hundred miles.
Ah.
Well, I daresay that they A. were damn better navigators than Europeans (since their whole lives were at sea), B. were sailing less hostile waters, and C. weren't trying to cross the entire ocean without stopping at a nice, fertile island.

And I'm 90% sure they had bigger canoes than that...

......why are we trying to cross the ocean anyways? I thought we were just trying to do better boats for fishing

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

We weren't, we were debating the plausibility of Mowat's theory.

Well, I was.

.....this might be a debate better served in an OOC thread. Right now I have no clue what the votes even are right now due to the debate.

So, I'll give my support to generally increasing crop production, building a primitive road between the camps, and developing better hunting tools like bows and boarspears. If we can, also scout out to see if we can find shiny copper rocks and experiment with primitive metalworking

I never said we needed to build the towers -now- (next turn). Though I guess in gameplay terms it makes little difference.

...We probably should invent a means to transport rocks back to the main village (Unless it's fluffed out and doesn't matter)

The road is not important though. Signposts maybe. (But then they can just follow the river downstream).

Updated

1. The road from stone to village lll
2. Road from lumber to village lll
3. bows lll
4. spears ll
5. Better boats ll
6. Planks (really? We have boats.) l
7. Pickaxes ll
8. Explore up forest river l
9. Athenian Government l
10. Militia l
11. Search for more animals l
12. Watchtowers
13. Search for new plants l
14. Better farming l
15. Cut wood near mine l

I agree that we should use the wood near the mine, for the mine. But first, we actually need a mine...

Our population is rising, so hunting isn't going to be sustainable for very long. I'd go for pickaxes because at this point a civilization would aim to find more permanent methods of building a structure. People would be more interested in stone than wood due to it's durability, so they'd want to establish better access.

So, I specifically vote for roads, bows and spears(for HUNTING, not for war, though if that comes we can use them for that), better boats, river exploration, pickaxes, better farming methods/finding more plants to cultivate, and while not Athenian government, start smaller with a more formal village council, since we need government to continue to grow without anarchy

Also, we need to name our village Aka'To

There is no need for them in the (IC) forseeable future.

Wheels?

Also, we need to name our village Aka'To
1. Why only name the main village?
2. Why Aka'To?
3. What's the apostrophe for? Just a break in syllables? (Akato has the same implied syllables.) Glottal stop? Seasoning?

Depends. Do we have wheels yet?

..."Chop a tree, cut out a piece of its trunk, put a hole in it".

(How would you describe wheel construction to someone who has never seen one, anyways?)
((How much tech do we know, anyways.  :-\))
(((What are the limitations of "we suggest it and it happens" anyways?)))

Current tech tally (based on the last update)

In agreement with some of those but not,
1. We don't have pick axes for mining. At all.
2. Spears, bows, etc. just because we were nomadic before, doesn't mean we have them now. For all we know, our group could've lived off of berries.
3. Bridge building. Yes, we could cross a stream, since it is a stream not a river, by stepping stones. Or it could be a narrow point. Anyway, we don't have any bridges.

Most of what we've done is basic "Plant seeds here, trees grow here. Plant onions here, onions grow here." The animal taming is a little more complex, but not too much so. Also, about our only real advancement so far is watercraft and Timberwork.

We also have several buildings, some made entirely of wood, and a "bridge" of sorts.
