-snip-
The various "Go into military!" suggestions implied we would be going past "We have our hunting weapons, and our tools, and if someone attacks us we can use them to defend ourselves".

I thought we had a lumber camp, and that the mining camp was nearly treeless... Ah well. To the map!

Makes me wonder how the hell did we manage to build and farm with only axes...
We're not Orks, are we?

@ashsaber, we already have domesticated animals, and basically you stated "research into advanced agriculture twice". Besides, why would we need watchtowers? We don't know of any EXTERNAL threat. Just problems within our own society.

Agriculture: Yes, because it is that important.
Animals: I mean more along the lines of "ride it into war". Obviously we have no threats but it certainly wouldn't hurt.
Watchtowers: Keeps track of roving animals, potential predators, so on. eventually it'll be useful for threat spotting.

Tech tree:
I was under the impression we had all the knowledge of a hunter civilization plus farming.

We know how to farm.

And you can build without tools, its called bark, thatch and using trees as poles.

Here, I'll expand and keep track of votes. Just say what you want guys, and I'll mark one for it.

1. The road from stone to village ll
2. Road from lumber to village ll
3. bows ll
4. spears l
5. Better boats l
6. Planks (really? We have boats.)
7. Pickaxes l
8. Explore up forest river
9. Athenian Government l
10. Militia l
11. Search for more animals
12. Watchtowers
13. Search for new plants
14. Better farming

Vote for as many as you want, but only once per option. How should we count what we want? The top three? Top five? I've put in mine and aseaheru. I'm not going to go aaall the way back for each vote, so just post and bold it please.

(Or if you hate me for trying to poll this way, suggest something else.)

I vote for 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, and 10

Not all boats are made of planks. I think ours are mostly rafts, with a few leather boats (Yes, leather boats work. Mostly in cold places. It is theorized by some people that people in leather boats went to Iceland, Greenland and even north america before the vikings...)

There's a sufficiently large wood 11 tiles to the South of the camp. And it really has the significant advantage of easy transportation.

On a side note, why are you guys buildings roads when we haven't yet invented the wheel? It's not very useful, and costs a significant amount of labor.

Also, bridges are a significantly larger investment, require large amounts of labor and construction knowledge, and will likely be swept away when the river undergoes it's yearly floods. Besides, they are even more technologically advanced, so I really doubt we can do that. Honestly, we probably haven't even invented the arch.

Watchtowers are pretty useless, and make no sense from our current perspective.

I vote for 3-8, 11, and 13-14.
Also for improving outlying houses.

Citation or it didn't happen.

Ebbor, there really isint much wood near the mining camp...
Actually, there is. There is a patch of trees not 20 miles from the mining camp--which is a heck of a lot closer than any wood is to our main settlement.

On a side note, why are you guys buildings roads when we haven't yet invented the wheel? It's not very useful, and costs a significant amount of labor.

Depends on the type. Dirt roads and stepping stone "bridges" are well within easy reach.
