I would like to point out that I've finally added a couple of people to the wait-list. So that's nice. All things considered.

((Sure.))
"I believe we have something to show you."
Give Rubeus the treaty letter.

"I believe we have something to show you."
Give Rubeus the treaty letter.

Rubeus takes documents and spends several moments reading over the treaty. Eventually he places the letter on the desk he had been sitting upon. "These terms are unacceptable. To be treated as equals, to be granted protection? Absolutely not. I will not even bring this to the Legate. The Legate would be shamed simply from holding this damned paper." Rubeus pauses for a few moments. "However, you happen to be in luck. Mea-Culpa has ordered me to do some minor scouting. Do this for me and I will make sure you are rewarded with more opportunities for work. The mighty Caeser approves of those who dedicate themselves to the legion. Prove you are worthy of our attention and I will bring this treaty to Mea-Culpa. In time. Think you can handle this outsiders?"

"And how far would we need to scout? Sorry for bothering you with a question, I would just like to know the specifics of this task."

"A few hours north. More specifically there is a cave nearby that shows signs of being lived in by a group of fugitive slaves. I was assigned this duty shortly before you arrived. How convenient for me that you showed up." Rubeus seemed the chuckle for a second before he resumed speaking "Your task is to explore the cave and return with any evidence of slaves using the cave as a hideout. In exchange you may use the Legion Armory as you see fit. I assume you have items to sell for denarii. We do not accept the profligate tenders."

And if the chance to kill the slaves should arise?

Rubeus seemed a little shocked for a second before he mastered himself. His face returning to his usual snarl he growled "Oh yes, this slave will be sent with you. This is a probation of sorts. The Legate feels that keeping such a powerful warrior confined to the arena would be a poor idea. I trust the four of you will be able to handle him if he should turn unruly. To answer your question I would prefer if you bring any slaves alive. I will pay thirty denarii for every slave brought alive. Sixty for every slave brought in fighting condition and one hundred denarii for every slave brought back in pristine condition. But if I were you I would simply slaughter them. It is far more entertaining."

"By fighting condition you mean able to put on a show? Or just able to stand long enough to be butchered? The slaves you threw into the ring against me might as well have been dead already for all the challenge they presented."

Chuckling to himself Harvey then added.

"Though I suppose it's gonna be slave against slave for a while now I pretty much killed or retired all of your gladiators for you in the last few months."

"You wouldn't last long against a decently trained opponent. The effort they spent capturing you... Fools. But as for their condition I'll appraise them when I see them."

"Sounds fair I guess, can you tell me anything about them? They got any skills? Well armed?"

Go to armory.
