Is it not an outrage that the board lacks bespectacled smilies, old sport?

Indeed. It is most saddening.

I think not. It would be most stereotypical and generic.

I do not believe the issue to be of importance.

Truly, my avatar is so refined that it needs neither tophat nor monocle. (Also, no bloody idea how and where to put them)

My good sir, I would like to kindly suggest that you place the tophat onto the thumb. Monocles are optional.

Damn heathens.
My good sir, I delcare that it is yet too early to be clothed in our festive garb, as November has not yet reached it's end. When that time approaches, most of us will be donning then our gay apparel, but until then we shall remain dressed as so. (Though I conjecture that some of us may still wear our gentlemanly attire, as being fashionable is always in season.)

Yo dudes. Wazzup?

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Yo dudes. Wazzup?

No, that's incorrect. Yo is a singular personal pronoun. You (singular, cannot be be dudes plural. "Yo dude" (I am a dude) would be correct. As would "tu dudes" (you are dudes.)

But, grammar aside, thank you for the compliment. As gentlemen, and, I suppose in my case as a tophat-wearing unicorn, gentlemare, we are indeed well dressed. That being the original meaning of the word dude, which is a derivative of dandy. Dandy, of course being a word that you yanks would recognize from your song, "yankee doodle dandy."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dude

"In the popular press of the 1880s and 1890s, "dude" was a new word for "dandy" – an extremely well-dressed male, a man who paid particular importance to how he appeared. The café society and Bright Young Things of the late 1800s and early 1900s were populated with dudes."

Cheerio.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

A hopefully foolish and unsuccessful notion, one must say. It would rather ruin things for everyone.

Let me correct you.
"Yo dude", would translate to "me dude". "Yo soy un/una dude" would be "I am a dude".
In that same maner, "tu dudes" makes no sense. "Tu", you see, means you in singular. "Ustedes" is you, plural.
Therefore, it should be "ustedes son dudes".

So then he was so incorrect that it took both of two of us to correct him. Impressive. Thank you for finishing what I started. Care for a spot of tea?

God I love this place.

'Tis only on Bay12 wherein one could find a topic devoted most seriously to the pursuit of the gentlemanly arts.
