Fezz sighed, whatever summoned energy he used to make his display dissipating along with the fire in his hands. The historian cast his glance at the surrendered knight, happy at least one didn't have to die meaninglessly.

"Glad that mess is over at least..." The man muttered to himself as he looked at his charred gloves, then wiped some of the soot off and onto his cloak.

Candy, determined to have a decent talk with this sexy person, quietly trotted over to Fezz.

: "Hey! You look like you need a little OPTIMISM and LOVE! What's bothering you~?"

Fezz was milling around, lost in thought when Candy approached him.

"Hm?" The historian looked surprised and confused at the question, as if the idea that someone would ask him what's bothering him was foreign. He paused as he tried to think of the best way to approach the topic.

"...A lot of things right now, to be honest."

Shortly after, a look of recognition come to Fezz. "Oh right, eheh, apologies about last time. I was in a bit of a hurry to make sure that damned merchant didn't get off with my trunk. Didn't quite work, as you can see I suppose."

: "Oh, don't worry! When you gotta run, you gotta run!"

Candy coughed. He wasn't sure what to say, and Fezz wasn't exactly a big talker. Whoops.

: "Um... so what WERE you doing earlier, before the groups met up? I think these other guys were on a holy quest or something, but you and Green Arrow weren't a part of this before."

Fezz seemed happy to get off of what's been troubling him, and onto a subject he's more comfortable with talking about. "Well, originally I was heading north to inspect some ruins that had been dug up recently, I was hoping to get there before any other scholar might. That didn't exactly work out." The historian shrugged, accepting now that his trunk is gone. "To be honest I'm not entirely sure what this group's goal is, escorting one of them? I think?"

The man thought for a moment, before dropping the train of thought. "I was, and still am, a historian and a scholar of ages past; I'm more of one with a want for travel and have first hand experience rather than sitting in a dark, quiet library all day and reading however. One can read suitably enough while traveling, I believe I've proven that. I can't much guess about 'Green Arrow,' I think she mentioned something about a horse before."

"How about yourself? You didn't throw your lot with the bandits, so I assume you weren't exactly happy there. I recall you saying as much actually, although, er, I wasn't entirely lucid at the time I think, what with the poison. And I think I rushed off soon after..." The scholar idly moved his cloak to try and cover the hole in his jacket, where the bolt had lodged itself. He reminds himself that he should get that fixed when next in town.

: "Oh. So you're on one of those... spiritual journeys. Except the spirits are all buried in the ground, and you're going to dig them up? That sounds fun!"

: "Yeh, I was actually captured by that group! I just didn't want to make them angry until I was sure you guys weren't ALSO evil bandits. I'm on a quest for the Fountain of Innocence, but it keeps getting interrupted by meanies. At least, I figure if I follow these people - which don't seem all bad - I'm not only safe but also getting closer. It's hard to explain how I know I'm getting closer, but I do know!"

"Hm, the fountain of innocence?" Never heard of it, at least not that I can recall. Mythology of some kind? Then again, I've heard of weirder things...

"From what I've seen, I don't think these people are bad. Some are a bit... Ah... Bloodthirsty, I suppose however. I also wouldn't necessarily call myself spiritual to be honest; I personally wouldn't ascribe 'pious,' 'honest,' or 'good' to some of the things that I do or did."

Fezz thought on what Candy had finished with, before responding. "I... Think I may understand, possibly."

The scholar explained. "There are often times when I'm investigating ruins and it seems that they've been dried up, whatever of interest that once might of been there has either been taken already or of little worth. But sometimes I get this... Feeling that somethings there, that I'm just not looking hard enough or haven't turned over enough rock and stone to find whatever it is that I'm looking for.

The more I look the stronger it gets, the more I 'know' that it's there, so to speak. There's no way I could know logically that there's something there, by all signs, searching any further would just be a waste of time. Yet the feeling isn't wrong very often."

"Anyways, we will be staying here until some Mireosians arrive. You might rest a while. You, with green hair. The shady one, come here, we have to talk. And someone keep an eye on Leymont."

: "I'll take sentry duty." Sara said, simply shrugging of Efa's attempt at a conversation.

@Fezz

Candy beamed on hearing that last bit but decided not to reply.

: "Well, I think we're getting closer now to where we were going, wherever that is. If you go on one of those archaeological dig things, I'd love to go with you, even just for the trip! I'm not trained in digging, but architecture and ancient things are awesome. People just don't make pretty structures like they used to."

@Sara:

"I'm twenty, I do not require supervision. Or is it that I fell into your eye, masked lady?" Leymont chuckled half-heartedly.

Irene in the meanwhile moved away from the outpost, onto an old tree stump, and began to look toward east.

"Do I really look that-"

Julius stopped for a second before sighing in resignation and giving a bow and following after her.
"Of course ma'am"

: "Just keep your mouth shut, and I won't stab you. Got it?" Sara said, unamused by Leymont's pitiful attempt at flirting.
