"Victory is ours! These scoundrels never stood a chance, I'm glad to say!" Roderic happily proclaimed, sheathing his sword before heading over to the newly met horsewoman.

"On behalf of us all, I'd like to thank you for your help. What is your name, fair rider?"

:"...Bah, nevermind."
Efa didn't have the heart to start up a fistfight, in all actuality.

"Ah! Er! Um. Right then. Sir, if you would just allow me to... move that way... all right, that's us untangled."

Leo got to his feet and brushed himself off, then offered a hand to Julius.

"Well then, we're off to a fine start, aren't we? My name is Leopoldo Belmonte. If I may ask, what were you doing locked up in there?"
Julius stood up after him and brushed the dirt off his cloak and sheathed his sword.

"Oh I happened to be in there at the wrong time. It turns out that if you dress like this and act stealthily then people will immediately assume you to be aiming to rob them blind."

he pulled his hood down and offered a handshake
"I'm called Julius. It seems I owe you peeple for aiding in my escape.

Leo accepted it readily with a strong grip.

"You don't owe us anything. Fortune brought us this way, and it was our employer's idea to take this base back for Mireos. Nevertheless, I'm happy to do someone a good turn."

The priest seemed to completely ignore the 'rob them blind' bit.

"We're on our way into Mireos proper. And you?"

"Nowhere in particular. I've been wandering from town to town, searching for a way to improve my skills."

"Hmm... and what skills are those, if you don't mind my asking? Don't worry; I'm not here to judge, if that's what you think."

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
"Seems pointless to me, but whate'er makes yeh happy.  Not like he's 'round to notice."

At the swordsman's flowery words, Tacey snickered.  Glancing over at the surrendered knight, then around to confirm that there were no enemies left, she doffed her helm.

"Not hardly as fair as you might say.  I'm Tacey Airgeat, and the other one, the gods-botherer, he called yeh Roderic, right?"

"Oh my..."

Roderic had to restrain himself from swooning right on the spot. He couldn't believe his eyes. Underneath that helmet, she was beautiful! A warrior beauty, the stuff spoken of only in legend! He quickly composed himself as best he could (it just wouldn't do fainting right here in front of her after all) and put on his best smile.

"Uhum... Yes, my name is Roderic and I am most pleased to make your acquaintance! I have to say, in my opinion, you look far better with the helmet off Lady Airgeat. I-I mean... Why deny the world such a fair and lovely face after all? Not that wearing a helmet in battle doesn't make sense to me, it does, it's just...

Oh dear. I appear to be stumbling through this conversation horribly. You have the advantage of me, I'm afraid."

Clearing his throat and collecting himself properly this time, Roderic waved a hand to the surroundings.

"If I may ask, what brings a fierce warrior maiden like yourself to parts like this? Are you travelling somewhere perhaps?"

"First off, that's Tacey, if'n yeh please.  Nunna this 'lady' this and 'lady' that stuff."  She seemed more bemused, rather than irritated by the swordsman's stumbling.  "And I ain't travelin' anywhere in particular.  I was on an escort job that got spoilt by these goons," this punctuated with a shift of her spear to point only not quite at the surrendered soldier, "when they sacked this here border post while I was out patrolin'.  Seein' as I'm between jobs, yer employer there kindly offered me a job protecting her."

Roderic smiled and nodded, glad he hadn't upset the woman.

"Of course, my apologies Tacey. It's just a habit I've picked up in my life, heh heh heh..."

He scratched the back of his neck sheepishly, glanced at the captured soldier and turned back.

"Ah yes, goons indeed. We were just hoping to pass through without trouble and they had the nerve to jump us without so much as a warning.

While it is sad that you've lost a job to these curs, I'm glad you're coming along with us. We could definitely use someone of your prowess."

Roderic glanced over his shoulder at the others while quietly moving over to Tacey to whisper to her so no one would hear.

"To be honest... Some of these people make me question their state of mind, and I'm glad someone who is more stable and down to earth is coming along. Leo, the priest you described earlier, is stable and sensible enough but the ladies appear to enjoy toying with him often for their own amusement. And while the pink haired dancer is nice enough, he's definitely... Eccentric, to put it politely.

A bit of advice: Be careful around the woman wearing the mask. She seems a bit unstable, and not in a nice way..."

Maible overhearing the conversationcan't help but interject

I don't toy with Leo, swordsman, you would do well to check facts before repeating them, although Elanore can be as nasty as a bear wooken from hybernation.
Then she can't help make note of his fighting style.

Interesting style, where did you learn it?

((Maible may not have learned the practice of swords from her parents, but she absorbed the theory))

You really can both sig it.
But... That would break the laws of sigging! We can't have everyone running around with the same quotes. IT MAKES THEM UNFUNNY FASTER!

Tacey closed her eyes for a moment, both at Roderic's warning and the mage's interruption.  That may have gone some way to explaining those three's behaviour on the battlefield earlier.

"Heh, well, I'll bear that in mind for certes.  I won't start any fights, but I can't promise I won't finish them."

@Leo:

"Leo, I thought I'm charge of recruitment? And if he was locked inside, he is either a criminal or someone important."

@Grifen:

The knight squinted his eyes at Grifen, as he bled a little more around.

"I understand, lady Irene, but it doesn't change the fact that he shouldn't travel alone."
