: "We must hope so. Prince Julius... Ho ho ho... I suppose it has a bit of a ring to it. But, you don't think he would vie for the throne do you? Goodness! That- It would certainly add some backing to the claim of the Rebellion if we were to rejoin with them. But even then... Ah!"

Miguel turned to Commander Fyra and bowed politely.

: "Miss Fyra, you know more about the affairs of the Empire more than anyone of our little throng. How would the common people react to this?"

"With all due respect to the man in question, he doesn't have a choice Miguel. Do you want someone like Matilda in charge? What about the current emperor? I would rather have a man who wants to be a hero running things than either of those."

@Outsiders:

"Killing Eul enraged the populace, and the nobles seized the moment and rushed to avenge him. You just killed a major rebel leader. When that becomes common knowledge, and if Oggal, Pfilz or Vaughn score a decisive victory in the west... People will be cheering and flock under the banners of the Empire even further. There's no way that this Julius you speak of will be able to sway their hearts overnight."

: "Truer words were never spoken."

: "I could hardly expect any man to win the nation overnight. Not Yonn of Kratos, nor the sons of Garaz, nor even the Emperor himself. Then yet event today, we've done the Rebellion a stiff blow with Matilda's death. It was along time coming to be sure, but that hardly brings comfort. We cannot expect them to accept us with open arms."

Miguel fell silent. They didn't have a single ally outside of the Duke of Masalla. Although he did not wish to be the first to say it, the idea of putting Julius or any other man on the throne was a lost cause.

Fezz was silent and downcast, waiting a moment in silence. There was no doubt in his mind now, this was indeed the true ghost of Emperor Troy Lionheart. Hesitantly, he stepped forth and patted an edge of the sarcophagus as one would the shoulder of a saddened friend to try and reassure them.

"Empress Helra did good by the empire in the start of her reign. She helped bring the empire out of an economic downturn and caused great strides in scientific standardization." The man wished there were noted events of the Emperor/Empress causing good beyond that, digging deep into his studies. "But not all is lost, Emperor Troy Lionheart. While the empire may be as it is, there is still within it people who's hearts beat for benevolence and what is right. There are those of the grand-generals who help lead the empire are just in their actions, heroes of the people and champions of what's right."

"I did not want to dishonor you and not tell you how things are to be, Emperor Troy, or worse to lie. You deserved to know. You were truly the first real philosopher-king, after all. But there is still time, there is still good within the empire, and you are still among us. Things can be made right."

Alec simply stood to the side, taking all this in with a limp jaw.
: "..."
Turning around, he let out a yell.
: "WHAAAAAAAT THE HELL?!"

Ciera had sat up when Leo magically appeared and stared at him as he explained.

"I... I don't... What?"

And then Alec exploded. She jumped in surprise but moved over towards him and looked up at him.

"I don't know what's going on either. But... But this could be good news, right? We can actually find a middle path. One that's good for everyone."

@Tombraiders:

"Anyways. I assume you didn't come here simply to deliver me these disasterous news?" The Emperor emerged behind Fezz, his arms crossed at his chest.

"If you want to try and take the throne for yourself, boy, be my guest. I would rather see a strong bastard on the throne rather than an incompetent heir. You, in yellow robe. Is the Law of the Blade still in effect? I have set three hereditary laws; by the Seed, by the Challenge, and by the Blade. By which ones the throne have been passed down so far?"

Julius raised his arm and brushed some frost out of his hair.

"...as hard of a time I'm having wrapping my head around the idea of someone like my father being descended from royalty I..."

"We told of this place by someone who at the very least believed the law still exists. Though I don't recall ever hearing of anyone ever taking the throne through anything other than inheritance. Has there been any such case Fezz?"

"By heir. There have been attempts by challenge, but none have succeeded. The law of blade should still be in effect, nobody has repealed it to my knowledge but I'm no lawyer. The one who pointed us here, he says it hasn't been repealed either, so I'm led to believe it should still be viable. Either way, it is an aged law and many presume the sword forever lost or a myth, old records locked away by the church of the Dragon." The historian answered both quickly, giving the Emperor's ghost his respectful space.

@Tombraiders:

"Hmmm." Emperor's ghost scratched his chin thoughtfully. Then he moved up to the sarcophagus, sunk his left hand into it, and then pulled something out. A flash of light and sizzling came from it as a long metal object was pulled out, presumably by magical means as there was no hole visible on the surface of the metal coffin.

It was a blade, rusted and with its gemstones dull. He placed it on Julius' hands, and once Emperor took his hand away, the blade shimmered, and restored itself to its former glory; the silvery handle glittered with cut gemstones as the rusty blade was now sharp and shiny.

Julius receives Crown Blade!

"This is the Crown Blade. Seek you the help of the families Lebrande and Forsaken. Their heirs pledged service to me, not the Empire, and shall help you with your bid to the throne. Of course, this by no means ensures you shall win. If you fall, it means you weren't strong enough. But I can help with that. I shall give you, and this man here a piece of my powers. You will be an Emperor if you try hard enough, and you there, wise youth, will be his retainer and advisor." Emperor raised his hands and a chilling, but beneficial energy struck both Julius and Fezz.

Julius and Fezz gain Emperor's Gift!

"Now, I have few pointers on how to run an empire. Would you care to listen to me?"

The historian was shocked, to say the least. "I..."

Fezz had envisioned many paths for his life, how it might turn out. He can't say being tasked by the late first Emperor as an adviser for a man who... Admittedly scares him a fair bit was one of those paths. "I am honored, Emperor Troy. I will act with all of my power to aid Jul--Prince Julius gain the throne and return this world from its madness." But Fezz wasn't going to turn the Emperor down.

He was a historian after all, he's devoted his life to what has happened and the past. If... If the first Emperor Troy Lionheart believes he can help bring this land from its madness, then perhaps he should seek to use his understanding of the past to bring about a better future.

The scholar nodded at the Emperor's question. "We would be honored to listen, Emperor Lionheart, anything that can help us in our task."

Julius stared at the blade as he took it in his hand. With wonder he turned it over in his hands to examine it, and couldn't help but let his mind wander, and let all the old stories rush back into his head.

"This is my..." This could be his second chance. His last chance to make things right. Maybe now with this, and the gift he could finally...

He raised his head to look straight at the apparition.

"What do we need to do?"

@Tombraiders:

"Just a couple of hints. Wrap your gauntlet in silk, as the people of old times said. Be strong-willed and assertive, but care for your people and your advisors. Reward loyalty lawishly and punish criminals severely. Do not associate yourself with mystics, clergy and commoners unless you need them for something. Keep the law simple but effective. Keep an eye on your opponents, and your friends even more. Make sure to oversee everything that is of important to the nation, be it magical research or construction project on the other side of the Empire. Do not exempt anyone from taxes. Keep a circle of advisors near you but make sure that you state your opinions firmly, and cultivate a proper heir. That does not mean you should pamper him. Teach him ethics, history, combat, tactics, administration and silvertongue... and if you cannot teach him yourself because you're lacking in any of these, find a man wise in these and hire him to teach your son instead..." The Emperor moved out of the chamber and looked at the strange remains in the alcoves.

"At least you will have it easier - you won't have to deal with an ensemble like this one." He grumbled under his nose, glaring at the maimed skeletons.

Julius carefully wrote the emperor's words in his notebook, though he couldn't help but give a few of them some odd looks as he put them to paper. When he was done he looked up at the emperor and saw him looking at the skeletons.

"Who were those? If you don't mind me asking."
