"Ah-haha, yeah, about that..." The historian scratched the back of his neck, staring at the ground.

"So, disasters, right... The most important was probably when we... Sorta lost a fourth of the entire continent to a mixture of floods and earthquakes about a hundred and fifty some odd years ago. Mireos was split from the main continent and all that remains of the lands once there is a few islands, one of which little more than a large salt flat."

"Theeeen there was sort of a plague a hundred years after that. It... Was bad. Very bad. Took years to recover. The rebellion almost directly after didn't help much either. You still sometimes find empty villages." The scholar grimaced.

"...Oh, yes, right before the flood was a period we call the 'Seven Years of Fire.' There was a great number of spontaneous fires in both forests and farmland, so on and so forth. Forgive me for almost forgetting it, it sort of loses its relevance with what followed."

"Now then, monsters, monsters... This falls a bit outside my field of study and more into personal experience. They still exist, although in lesser numbers than in your times, before the 'Twenty Year Crusade'. They've are starting to creep back into settled lands, giant spiders and gargoyles at least. Well, I suppose I've seen more, yes, but those tended to be locked up in old ruins left by the Dragon Mages or their apprentices. Typically undead. Sometimes... Less... 'Dead', more 'Un'." The historian recalled some less-than-pleasant situations in his past. He pushed them away.

"The swamp.... Swamp?" The historian paused for a moment, thinking. "I... Oh. You mean the magic wasteland. It was declared a lost cause and left at that I'm afraid. References to it are scant and hard to find in historical documents, most tended to just ignore it I think. I've heard rumors about communities who dwell around the edges, cutting into the swamplands hunting for something they believe might be there but I've not put much stock in that." Fezz paused for a moment and sighed. "I suppose the best I can offer being the rumor speaks lengths about how it has been dealt with. The only purge I know of in history would be the Blue Purge."

"I didn't exactly intend to get myself thrown out, Grifen. I'm not even sure how a ghost has transportation magic available to him."

"Yes. And I also said Julius is a direct descendent... which means we need to get the Crown Blade and put him on the throne as soon as possible. You must agree, he'd be a better ruler than anyone in either the empire or the rebellion; he wants to do good."

"That's what the ghost said. It was hard to tell, but it did appear as if Troy and Julius at least have the same hair color."

@Tombraiders:

The Emperor's brow furrowed when he listened to the speech about the disasters, but kept silent.

"Blue Purge? What is that?" He asked at the end.

@Sad Ones:

Fyra stared at Leo, slowly processing what she heard.

"The Blue Purge was... When Empress Helra sort of... Purged the nobility, officials, generals, anyone with a title really. There's a lot of debate--behind closed doors--as to if this was just or extreme, as all those targeted were either known to be corrupt or treason. So we think, at least. The purge's scope was vast, and the methods... Dark, at times. Some were killed outright, others forced to kill themselves, or..." The historian trailed off there.

"I've heard both sides of the debate, but I can't rightly give my opinion on it. Some call it a continuation of Empress Helra's reformations, cutting free the rot of corruption that harmed the empire and saving both lives and money of the Empire for stopping many scandalous and horrid acts. Others called it a horrid turning point that foreshadowed the sour notes of the end of her reign, of her merely eliminating any who might rebel against her or be a threat, with treason being on par with a divergent opinion."

The historian stretched for a moment, his limbs having fallen asleep from standing in place for a while, pacing a bit before settling back down comfortably.

"You've missed much, as you can see, Emperor Troy Lionheart. I'm sorry you have to hear about it in this way, you don't deserve this with what good you've done. If... You don't mind, my liege, if after you're satisfied I may ask a few questions in return? But for now, is there anything else you might wish to know? Current affairs would probably be better suited to Julius however, I admit I'm not too well versed with the present beyond what I've personally experienced."

@Tombraiders:

"Empress?" He was baffled.

"Not only there wasn't a single effort of reconstruction done in the last one hundred fifty years, but you also want to tell me people allowed a woman on the throne?" He hid his face in his palm and something related to a whine, growl and grumble all at once came from Emperor's throat.

"Preposterous. If I knew how all of my fighting and conquering would end, I would never rebel against the Magi. Woman on a throne." He scoffed and dissappeared suddenly after turning toward the sarcophagus.

All this talk of ghosts made Grifen think of an old Masallan song. Her anger at Leo for getting himself thrown out was momentarily overshadowed by her sense of wonder.

: "Wow. Who woulda though that grumpy fella was a descendent of the old Emperor? You sure the ghost was actually the right guy, and not some other ghost pretendin' to be?"

"Well, I have no way of authenticating it, no. Fezz might. But it IS the Emperor's tomb."

@Outsiders:

"They are papers speaking of Emperor's soul being bound to his grave on his whim, but... I personally thought that was a fairy tale. Who in their right mind would want to keep on dwelling here instead of moving into peaceful afterlife?"

: "I-inconceivable. You mean to say, that Emperor still exists on this plane and that Julius is his direct descendent?"

: "Simply madness. If it weren't coming from one such as yourself, I could scarcely believe it. Good heavens, what does this mean for the empire?"
