Ursa, who had arrived in time to see Diana defeat her first opponent and had watched the second fight, made an approving sound.

: "Did good, Princess. Remind Ursa not to fight you!"

Diana was surprised to see Ursa as she made her way toward the exit. His comment was... surprising and pleasing.

"Oh, Ursa? I didn't realize you were watching me..."

"Did you follow Brann, too? I didn't know this place was for fighting until I saw him come out looking beat up. I thought I might have a go of it."

Diana nodded.

"Yeah... those guys were tough. Are you thinking about entering?"

"I'm sure you could win a round or two, and I'd be here to cheer you on if you wanted to give it a try."

The mage 'hmmed' at the swordsman's comment about the arena. Brann wasn't wounded, not anymore at least, and this idea of places where one can fight for money without threat to life intrigued the mage. Enoch has heard of them before, even been to a few as a spectator, but this variation was slightly foreign. He supposes he's more used to proper bloodsports.

The strange robed man made his way to this 'arena,' and considered what he believed to be the man in charge. "Tis fate that I participate. What is the charge to enter where fights are fought with sword and targe."

Accost man who seems they might be the proprietor of the arena with want of admission.

CONDITIONAL: The first attack by Enoch has a crit roll of 1.

The arena master gives Enoch a boggled look for a few seconds before his brain makes sense of the words. "First fight is 100 gold. We provide weapons, don't kill the other guy. Also, you're fighting a wizard first if you're fighting. Deal?"

Enoch merely nods, handing over the requisite amount.

"That's fair, though I could have given you entry funds."

Diana looked Ursa over.

"Speaking of your wounds, how are you holding up?"

Enoch is led to the pit, and the rope thrown down. Across the pit, the same courtesy is extended to his opponent. The two casters stare at each other across the distance for a few short moments. The gong is rung. Enoch immediately launches a blast of light, catching the Sage off guard. After that however, the fight goes clearly in the Anima-user's direction. Though Enoch is capable of firing more energy, his counterpart manages to deflect many of the blasts, and his own magic strikes more deeply than Enoch's. Eventually, Enoch is worn down, and the Sage strikes him with a final blast- Only for Enoch to emerge from the smoke, still standing, and launch another pair of bolts. Undeterred, the Sage bats the bolts away, and strikes Enoch again, finally managing to put the light caster down for the count.

Brann goes, buys the bow crystal, uses it to upgrade to A recurve S Longbows

As he walked back from the shop, he noticed Ursa and Diana standing near the fight arena. Wincing slightly, he walked over.

"Ah... Princess Diana. How... how are you? Were you fighting? I'm... afraid I didn't do so well in the arena myself. I thought I'd try my hand out using a bow again, and, well... I'm a bit rusty. I think though... I found a crystal that's supposed to increase the skill of whatever archer is using it."

He held out the crystal that he'd just picked up.

"It's a charm of sorts. You wear it and it boosts your skill or so I've heard."

"Ah, hello Brann. I'm doing well. Yes, I thought I'd give the arena a go. I won two rounds, but I didn't want to risk losing the entry fee for the third. That's a pretty crystal; I hope it does what it says. We could use another skilled archer."

Diana meant it as a complement; as a swordswoman herself, she respected his finesse even if her style was rather more brute force, and it would be very useful if his skill with a bow was equal to his skill with a sword. She looked him over.

"How are you feeling, Brann? Not just physically, I mean."

"I... I don't know. My family... My family were the ones supposed to be protecting the last blood of Worus. And he was assassinated. We... We failed. And I wasn't there to help. I tried to offer my services to Councilman Kuimer for after the war, but he brushed me off. Told me to return after the war and he'd see then. I just... I keep failing. I keep not being able to help protect people. Even last battle..."

He shook his head.

"Maybe it would be best for me to return home. Help my family recover from our failure. I know the group would miss me, but surely Kuimer could replace me with someone else just as strong if not stronger."

Diana looked down.

"...Maybe so, but I know some of us would miss you. I would. I feel like I never thanked you properly when you and Ursa came to save me and my friends. I've been so caught up in my own worries and doubts that I... I've been neglecting the people who have selflessly supported me, and I want to apologize to you for that. You deserve better treatment."

"I've made the offer for anyone with me to leave before if they didn't want to go after Ansel, and it still stands. I'm not going to renege on it. I still believe there's a strong chance that some of us won't make it back. But... I trust you. You've fought for me, when I had nothing to offer in reward save more war, and yet you're still here. I'd like it if I could continue to count on you in the future. The choice is yours, and I'll understand if you feel your place is here... but I'd appreciate it if you were with me. Even if it's just to avenge the death of the Worus line."

Diana looked down.

"And maybe your family wasn't able to protect the last of Worus, but you, yourself, can still protect the last of Durhiel and Ulfijan."

"I came to help you because Ursa said you needed help. I don't think I've been neglected but... I... Revenge isn't exactly what I want, I want to try and support my family and...

He was going to try to further explain his stance but then Diana said her last line and he froze.

"I... I don't... It would be my honor."

He bowed with his hand over his heart to her, realizing that his view had been so narrow.

"I admit, I would miss some of you as well. Especially... Well..."

He glanced at the ground as his sentence trailed off, not knowing if he should finish that sentence.
