Kuimer looked up from his writing and waited patiently for Brann to give his speech. "Well, I am happy to see that my efforts have not been lost on all of the citizenry. I ask that you do not make this decision lightly however. Follow Princess Diana, guard her, and help her to bring down the mad king. Then, when this absurd war has come to an end, and return to me with your decision made not in haste or patriotic fervor. Is that satisfactory, for now?"

"I... Very well."

He stood back up and headed back to the rest of the group, not sure what to do with himself right now.

Eventually he shook himself and headed into town. Finding a nearby arena, he entered in, figuring he could try out his newfound strength.

The 'Arena' was a hidden basement inside a dirty looking tavern. Two men, one armed with a sword and another with a lance were circling each other in a recessed pit in the floor. A shirtless man who was a mass of scars gave Brann an appraising look. "And what's someone like you doin' in a place like this?"

"What, am I too fancy looking for this place? Please. I'm a guard here. Barely make enough money to give me food. The armor and weapons I have don't belong to me. They belong to my boss. Figure with another kid on the way, I should try and make a spare bit of coin, you know?"

The scarred man shrugged. "Guess it makes no difference to me. Since you're new here, I'll run the rules past ya quick. Now pay attention, because I hate repeating myself, alright?

"First rule: Once you're in the pit, you fight until one of you is done. No crying uncle either- you fight until you're unconscious, or you're through here. Second rule: You wanna fight, you gotta ante up- if you win, you take your money back, and get some from the loser too. Also part of whatever gets bet on the loser. You go down, you don't get shit. Third rule: You fight with our weapons- No bringing in top of the line trinkets like that beast you got on your belt there. Last rule: Try not to kill the other guy. Blood on the dirt is good and all, but when people die it makes competitors nervous. I know nothing's sure in a fight like this, but there you go." The man hocked up a gob of phlegm and spit it to the side, away from Brann. "So, still interested? Your first round I can do you for one hundred."

The man nodded and walked Brann over to the pit. "Rope's right over there. Lower yourself in, and we'll let you know when you can start. Oh, and your opponent is gonna be Marish." The arena master pointed out a man in soiled priest's robes.

Opponent: Bishop- Lightning.

"Let's see the cash."

Tossing over the 100 gold, Brann pulled off his coat, and neatly laid it on the bench, along with his weapons.

"Those had better be there when I get back."

Brann enters the arena, uses Iron Bow

Once Brann and Marish enter the pit, the priest flashes Brann a sick, bloody grin. A worn looking Iron bow is tossed into Brann's hands, and a thoroughly foxed lightning tome goes toward the priest. A gong is struck, and before Brann can react, a bolt of light magic comes streaking toward him. The blinding light sears into his arm, causing the fighter intense pain. Nonetheless, he launched an arrow- but it was all for naught, as Marish ducked beneath it and sent another bolt at Brann, knocking him off his feet, and causing his head to crash into the dirt wall of the arena.

Brann has been Injured!

Brann awakens not long after to a spotty faced young man standing over him with a staff, as well as the arena master. The scarred man chuckles. "Don't take it too hard now- Marish wipes the floor with most newcomers. You didn't try to back out, so you're good in my book- You want to try for another round? Try to make up your losses?"

Brann goes, sells his Slim Sword to replace the gold he borrowed from the group, then goes to bed

Diana had followed Brann to the arena when she saw him in town, but she had stayed outside until he came back out to see what kind of place it was for herself. Considering he looked rather beat-up, she figured it must be some sort of fight club. Such a thing was quite beneath her station, of course, but all the same she was curious to see what it was like among the commonfolk. And no one knew her here - hopefully - so she could get away with not being a princess for an hour or so. She walked in and made her way downstairs, looking around furtively, then settled her eyes on the men currently fighting.

The organizer must be around here somewhere...

A large, calloused hand fell on Diana's shoulder. "I think you're in the wrong place, little girl." The arena master said, looking down into the pit. Two men with knives were circling each other, one pale and twitching, the other chuckling slowly.

Diana looked up and behind her.

"My height aside, I do believe I'm actually in the right place. This is where one fights for money, correct?"

She gestured at the two knife-wielding men in the pit.

The arena-master raised an eyebrow, then shrugged. "Yeah. Don't go spreadin' it around though. If you wanna fight, hell, your money. I might as well tell ya the rules."

"First rule: Once you're in the pit, you fight until one of you is done. No surrender allowed- you fight until you're down, or you're through here. Second rule: Fights cost money- if you win, you take your money back, and get some from the loser too. Also part of whatever gets bet on the loser. You go down, you don't get shit. Third rule: You fight with our weapons- But honestly it's gonna be like the sword you're wearing now. Last rule: Try not to kill the other guy, when people die it makes competitors nervous. I know nothing's sure in a fight like this, but there you go."

The arena master looked somewhat uncomfortable. "You sure you want in on this? We have healers if you get hurt, but..."
