"Frankly speaking I can't remember a recent time when I wasn't fighting to the death. I'm fine with not killing my opponent. A good spar over a bit of gold should clear my head, win or lose. How much do I pay?"

"...One hundred gold for the first fight. Take it or leave it." The arena master pointed across the pit to a man in light armor. The man was watching the fight, his expression not changing at the screams of pain from the losing combatant.

"Very well. Perhaps I can learn a thing or two out there."

Diana took 100 gold and handed it over, then fixed her eyes on her opponent to study him before the fight started.

Diana didn't get to see much- The man didn't move before the two knife fighters were pulled up from the pit. The arena master ushered the two down their respective ropes soon after, as men who had been drinking and had been uninterested in the last fight got closer. The gong rang, and Diana was the first to react, striking at her opponent and drawing blood in the first instant. The man struck back, but was already hurting- After the opening strike, the battle was a foregone conclusion, and dumbfounded silence filled the pit when the man succumbed to his wounds. A few moments later, wild cheering took the silence's place as ropes were lowered and an attendant came to collect Diana's opponent.

Diana lowered her sword and was about to extend a hand to help her opponent to his feet when an attendant rushed past her and helped him up.

I have the feeling he underestimated me because of my size and sex. I wonder if anyone else will make the same mistake.

"You are a good fighter. Truly."

Diana turned and looked up at the scarred man.

"How much for another go?"

(Do I get healed between rounds, Blade?) (answered in OOC thread)

Upon being told it was between 200 and 300, Diana took out a pouch of gold and tossed it up to the scarred man.

"That's 200. I'm ready for round two."

Diana had the sword she'd used in the pit taken from her. "Next fight is up to you how much you want to put in. Two hundred gold is the minimum bid, 300 is maximum."

Enoch looked slowly to his left, then his right. He pondered for a moment before nodding to himself. Yep, he lost track of half the group. Something about shopping? The small mage practically growled to himself in self-frustration as he paced, reaching a hand in his hood and scratched his head. Literally no fewer than a week ago, and this. They won't be happy.

@Brann

Going over clauses in his mind to determine the exact folly that is his fault, he noticed something. He reached into his robes and clutched his tome, stalking through the halls to find what exactly he found, before seeing it. The strange mage saw Brann heading back towards their temporary domicile, the robed man confused. To a normal man, they would simply see a tired swordsman. Enoch isn't a normal man. He approached the swordsman, tense and looking about cautiously.

"You were in a fight with light." Enoch said, more of an obvious statement than a question or comment. "Where is the battle, do tattle, should I gain saddle and rattle the enemies?" The man asked, his eyes tracing something towards where Brann once was.

"Alright then, that guy is your next opponent. Terrence will patch you up before you head in again." A man in riding gear with a sword slung at his belt was pointed out to Diana, while the spotty young man healed her rather inexpertly.

"Huh? Oh. Yeah, there's a pit arena nearby. Was trying to get gold to get this crystal... Supposed to strengthen your skill in bows. Figured I could use the help since I haven't used 'em in forever. But... Got beat up by a light mage."

He shook his head and sighed.

"If you want to try it, here's how you get there. But... be careful. I know you're not a fan of iron weapons and such."

He gave the monk directions on how to get to the fighting pit.

Otiros remained with his crossbow under his arms, barely moving right now. He was looking almost like a statue, considering he wasn't speaking and not   moving that much, but then again... there wasn't much to be said, right?

Diana once again descends into the pit, as does her opponent. The gong rings and, again, Diana is first to act. The rider dodges however, and cuts into Diana's armor with two well placed cuts. Undeterred, Diana fights back, swinging her sword with unlikely force, badly wounding the man. He lands another pair of cuts against Diana, and she delivers another bone-crushing attack in return. The rider slows, missing one of his attacks, and barely landing another before Diana sweeps him off his feet and plants her sword in his belly- He passes out from the pain.

Party gains 400 gold!

As Diana climbs out from the pit, the arena master gives her a look that seems to suggest the sentiment 'Not bad'. "I'll admit, I didn't really expect you to handle yourself that well. Want one more go? You've done two matches, so we can push the stakes real high with a veteran competitor."

Diana wiped the sweat from her brow and looked into the pit.

"I think I'll come back another time. I have a long journey ahead of me and I don't want to risk further injury before I set out."

She bowed slightly.

"Thank you for allowing me to compete. It was an honor. Tell my second opponent he was really strong, and I look forward to a rematch someday."

"Works for me." The arena master said. "You come back any time you like- The crowd loves ya." The scarred man handed Diana her winnings.

The princess smiled as she took the gold.

"Oh, do they? Well, I wouldn't want to disappoint them. I'll be sure to come back when things have settled down."

She gave him a smile and a wave goodbye as she headed back to the castle to see her friends and allies.
