It'd be great if this video was redubbed with a more realistic conversation.

"Where the fuck are we supposed to go?"
"I unno, you wanna play league after this?"

etc.

Yeah actually I assumed it was AI chatter too. I was fairly impressed, why'd you guys have to take that away from me  :(

Other than that the actual gameplay looks really boring. The UI looks slick and that map in the beginning was pretty, though.

Honestly you know what this game reminds me of? APB...

You do missions and enemy players can prevent you from doing them.

Hoping this makes it to release with 20% of features shown. Fluffy gameplay videos do not bode well for such things.

Game looks great hands down. Let's hope it's not like HOMEFRONT's initial video (you guys know the homefront story... right? they made this ridiculously awesome video using the last bit of money the company had to try and get a publishing deal, they got it and promptly made a lackluster game with the little funding they had left, undercutting each and every promise that they made), and more of a welcome surprise kind of deal.

Kind of what I'm saying. The scripts for the players and the non-organic scenario 'No, let's go to the station! Oh wait, you hear those shots?!?! Okay guys look at your skills now! *Cue 10 seconds of flipping through icons*' shows me very little if anything about the underlying game itself. It smells more like a PR than a legitimate demonstration, you know?

Also: The AI was.. Rather horrid. The enemies just flooded out of their strong positions to get shot in the open. No attempts at flanking nor utilizing the other pathways of the building they supposedly owned.

I'd also like an in-universe explanation of how you can heal people from 30 meters away. Nanomagic, right? I was actually concerned there for a second when the PC had low health, until the healer girl magically cured the party completely from across the lot. Gee. Neat.

OK. time to set some things straight since it has devolved into near pure pessimism yet again.

This is a multi player RPG open world shooter. The only AI present is at the police station and indeed is somewhat standard fare for the shooter genre(they flank the players moving quickly between cover, focus on the biggest threat, flush players out of cover with molotovs-maybe it's not so rudimentary, just not revolutionary). The audio does appear to be post production, which is not bad considering how many games use total mock-ups for their trailers. We also don't know how far along this game is in development.

Those who think that these features won't make it into the game are surely partly right. I do however think you are seeing features that will most likely be in the game based on a simple fact. This is basically Watch Dogs in an open world shooter. I think we will have a chance to see what Ubi can do with similar gameplay sytems in Watch Dogs 6 months or more before this game releases.

This is basically Watch Dogs in an open world shooter.

Care to explain the use of that ubiquitously named 'The Underground', then? Sounds like a Fallout-3-like cop out in claiming you're free roam while separating the areas into chunks.

I want real gameplay, not fluff. All I saw in this trailer is a railroaded shooter with a pre-scripted scenario. Tom Clancy games are very good at that. Remember that 'revolutionary' RTS? Endgame, wasn't it?

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

I'm kinky that way ;)

But no.. just a Q3 logo somewhere. between the shoulders or whatever :)
And I just realized that the topic is only about Tom Clancy's new shooter. Thought it was a "praise the best shooters evah"-kinda thread. my bad

I want White Glint's emblem on my arm.

Anyway, from what I've seen, the engine is pretty similar to Future Soldier, but with more augmented-reality capabilities, and less blue.

Cover WILL be varied, I feel quite sure, if this is anything like it's predecessor at all. Not to mention that, considering Ubisoft's focus on connectivity between players and the fact they haven't fucked that up (yet), if that feature goes down well, then the whole experience should be like a console DayZ minus the zombies, instead you get AI soldiers (probably the "cop rescue" scene- note they didn't say anything such as "player group" or "other player" such as in the last bit of that). From what I remember of GR:FS, the AI isn't braindead, although it might be somewhat problematic in the areas of seeing you before someone shoots. That may have just been the stealth aspect of the original though, as they weren't supposed to see you and you were invisible but anyway...

If the community is anything like GR:FS, we aren't going to see the same levels of CODfaggotry prevalent in today's shooters.

From what I can see, there will be AI soldiers, probably events that you do like the cop thing that regenerate, possibly as different things, over time, and other player-groups who will want to loot your shit. What I don't like about the game was Chris. Chris was the tablet drone. I don't want to have that, because I still like piloting drones myself and I don't want to have to boot up a tablet I don't own and not be able to still play the main game.

I trust Ubisoft with my money, especially with Tom Clancy titles. I didn't say I BLINDLY trust them, though.
