The newest version of a video game is not always the best. Certainly, just because a newer version of a game is available doesn't mean that no one wants the older version. And most definitely, at the price of $3.50 for 8 games including several quite highly rated titles, there is no conceivable way this could be considered "insulting."
So far, I'm enjoying Echo of the Wilds, although it's quite difficult. I haven't played too much yet, but it strikes me as a survival game with a very intriguing surreal element that slowly reveals itself. Really liking it so far.
Edit: GAH. Okay, everyone, serious issue. Echo of the Wilds does not have a standard save feature. You have to play and play and play until you find a certain object, then you have to use some of your resources to save the game. Fail to do that, and your save is lost as soon as you quit. Worse still, hitting the ESC key closes the game, no warning or anything. So if you accidentally press ESC (or reflexively hit it trying to close a window), your game is GONE. The web site claims that there is a patch for this that confirms before you quit, but the Groupees version is obviously not the patched version, and there doesn't seem to be any way to get it.
I've sent an email to the developer explaining the situation and asking for a way to get the patched version. I also included my thoughts on why it's a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad thing he's done by not letting us save whenever we damn well please, and why it will lose him money and fans forever. We'll see what he says, although I highly doubt he'll add saving to the game now that it's completed and out and having to find a place to save is built in as one of the things you need to do.
So frustrating. Otherwise, it's SUCH an awesome game.
