Any thoughts on the impossibility of building illumination?
What exactly do you mean by that?

I'm trying to place a candelabra.  When I go b->e-> candelabra, instead of showing me the available candelabras to choose from, I get a list of all the plants in the fortress.  Same with fireplaces (haven't tried braziers).

My Flamemancer just disappeared.
I sent him out in my courtyard where i trapped an early goblin ambush.
I watched the battle step by step for some time, all the arrow were deflected by his iron armor and since the most clever of dwarves forgot his axe in his room, the melee combat was quite uneventful. i decided to wait for the goblins to burn and just unpaused for about 2-3 seconds. The battle stopped. some goblins were still running around. after looking for some time i noticed that the dwarf was gone. the combat log didnt show any injuries for him. there is no body anywhere, only goblin corpses and a pile of dwarven armor. my only conclusion is, that he burned himself to death. Shouldnt firemancers be fireproof?

This is probably not related, but i did notice that fire mages are fireproof, but they can spew dragon fire. Unless they are dragonfireimmune as well, im pretty sure they can kill themselves just like dragons could in versions before.

Since i quicksaved shortly before i just made the game die via dfhack and reloaded. Again, the firemancer died for no apparent reason after some time, with no combat log entries about this. this time i managed to find his corpse, it was on fire and heavily worn (acording to the description).

I ran dfhacks "deathcause" on him, it said that a goblin shot him, yet no such entry exists in said goblins combat log and he does not have a kill listed on him.

Edit: Is it normal that after an attack (half a fort dead), I keep getting death notices over and over because my engineer makes signs against evil and destroys corpses on a stockpile? I'm on the Gaia world, above the crescent lake at the bottom (about 45 down, 43 left), So it shouldn't be corpse reanimation due to evil biome.

Akrul Ablelvath, Dwarven Child is throwing a tantrum!
The Engineer makes the sign against evil and destroys a corpse!
The Peasant is starting to glow!

The Engineer is probably a white mage. There's one sort that destroys corpses. A pretty great catch to get one as a migrant, though you probably want to keep him away from corpses you want to keep. He's for fighting undead really.

I tried my best to jury rig soundsense to work with custom season announcements, but no dice, it doesnt seem to recognise any changes done to the seasons.xml, so only the vanilla announcements work.

Where are the cusotm masterwork announcements stored? Cant seem to find them anywhere.

I was able to get the seasonal announcements by adding " \*(.+)\*" to every season line:
The logPattern would look like this: "(Spring has arrived!)|(Spring has arrived on the calendar\.)|(Spring has arrived! \*(.+)\*)"
I also have the latest SoundSense v42.

I had a migrant merchant guild dwarf with -1 appraise skill. Are there any data you would like to have about this dwarf for debugging purposes?

Tetrahedrite was removed in 3i, so no reaction needed.

Bugs:
  • Feather filled bag and quills damaged by STONE_VAPOR_TEMPLATE from ANNOUNCEMENT_CRATEOPEN. STONE_VAPOR's MAT_FIXED_TEMP is 8999. Feather material templates have a COLDDAM_POINT of 9900.
  • Engineer caste should have a bonus to Toolmaking (just makes sense, imo).
  • Animal Caretaking is called "Chandling Handling" in Therapist. Typo in GAME_DATA.INI.
  • Architect's Study is still an available building but has no reactions.
  • Mechanic should be the skill used to make magma-safe mechanisms in the StoneCutter. Possibly in other shops that now make mechanisms as well, but it may not make as much sense as allowing the person who makes mechanisms from stone to also make them from blocks.

I wouldn't find the bug if I didn't have tetrahedrite bearing rock lying around, looking all smug. I don't use Simple Minerals, Gems, Trees and Stone, because I love geology and variety.
Edit: Why would there not be reactions for additional minerals (YESMIN) when products (_PROCESSED) exist and the reactions can be commented in/out with them? How do they differ from the "chosen" ones?

So the additional signs there have an actual purpose? Well, me not knowing jack about coding shows here. Thank you.

Ok, so I added that. Figured anyone using soundsense might want to make use of that and not do the dirty work himself, so ill paste the code here. Just replace seasons.xml (open with notepad) with this. Testing to see if it works now.

This way, the announcement sound will play, but the music loop will not. Add the same to the music definitions in the same file.
