While I'd prefer to have a cruiser soon, I doubt that we can do it, it's size should be more than 10

Look, Wasp with 2TP-1s and 4 torpedo mounts is size 1+ 1 armor

40mm guns are 0.25 size per piece, LUPs should be something like that, too

120mm guns are 0.5 per one... 280mm should be at least 1 each, most likely more

Add any reasonable armor and we can't fit into 10 size

I think designing twin turret first is a better idea, because turret is much more than guns grouped together (and we may use other similar sized gun if our current 280mm will not pass the tests)

I'd not design any new ships before getting GM's reaction on that:

AA ship is useful, but I really dislike the whole size system in the game....  Ship with 12 40mm guns is an escort destroyer at best. As well as ship armed with 4 120mm guns...

Another Problem here that real word size difference is quite severe.... Fast attack ships could be as small as 50 tons, destroyers had something like 2000-3000 tons, Cruisers with 10 000 tons, Battleships with 40 000 tons and so on

1-2 Corvettes
2-4 Frigates\Torpedo boats
4-8 Destroyers
8-16 Light cruisers
16-32 cruisers
32-64 Heavy cruisers
64+ Battleships

I'd like something like that with one point of size representing 500 tons of displacement, then it will look normal and logical

But ships like Wasps should be out of the system, I estimate Wasp to be less than 100 tons and should have fractions of the size, like 0.1-0.2

Also, it's logical that our small young nation can't build anything larger than light cruisers, yet

PS: I am not the one who called Toady, not my style

War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.

...If it had an explosive in it, then mesor wasn't firing a frag round, he was much more likely firing a incendiary tracer round, which is designed to explode after penning the target and damaging it with white-hot fragments(and likely catching it on fire if it hits a fuel tank)

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

fun fact: in our world, exploding machine gun rounds are prohibited by Saint Petersburg Declaration of 1868 (400 gram projectile means you're probably firing a 37mm or a 45mm cannon, at any rate something over 30mm). But this is a game (and besides, IRL WWII saw much graver transgressions than that)

Whoa. Jesus Christ guys, you need to calm down. We had the Great One himself turn up.
In fact, I was thinking about completely overhauling the rules, making them actually work. These ones are a little shoddy, especially in the naval part. Perhaps a game where you not only design the weapons, but build brigades and divisions and use them to fight. Who wants to stick with this and who wants me to make the rules better and less ' Fly by the seat of my pants?'

....Yeah, clearer rules here might help a little, and cut down on the bickering a bit

Also, with that spaceship game and the defence contractor game, can't help but feel like I've started a trend. But I will work on the rules, and probably have em soon. Stay tuned.

This is by no means the first game of its type, but I think both the games you mentioned were instigated by a look-see at this here thread. Heck, I like the specific concept and scope of this one a lot (you only develop weapons, how they're used and the greater managerial work is out of your control and can affect you at random).

Personally, I wouldn't have let them successfully make the AK with more powerful rounds in 1926, and I would have allowed them to devote their engineers to railguns and rocket boots only to see them not work/kill people in their testing phase, but that's just me. :P

Sorry for the double-post, but in an effort to get back on track here's my revised designs:

Hero-class Cruiser(Герой крейсер)
Engineers:8+metallurgist&naval engineer
Workspace:10

Armor:3'(76mm) plating below waterline, 21/2'(64mm) above waterline
Armament:2x twin 280mm turrets, 6x LUP-40 AA/AS turrets, 10x siderail-mounted TP-1s, 8 foward torpedo tubes, 2 aft torpedo tubes

Feather(перо)
What it is:Light wooden biplane armed with two TP-1s, nimble dogfighter. Should be cheap, very nimble, easy to learn to fly, trainer and last resort, glass-cannon interceptor
10 novice engineers
Workspace:10

Cruising speed:175mph(281kph)

Also, we need to get at least one wasp built for testing(if we can this turn)
Max Speed:214mph(334kph)
Operational Ceiling:15,000ft(4,572m)
Armament:2x TP-1 mounted in the nose(connected to an interrupter gear)

I dont think a cruiser with that armament could go 175MPH, which is 152 knots.

I'd say 30-40 knots maximum.

You do realize it's a plane, right? Planes going 56km/h will fall like bricks.

The explosove is tiny, it's got about enough force to fire a bullet it's only purpose is to give the fragments the force they need because of the lost force from the AP round breaching the armor.
Was the best method we found for giving it back the requires force for it to be effective.

We used a 1 inch thick piece of steel, with mock versions of tubing, wiring and circuit boards behind it as well as 2-3 inch thick steel beams spread through it.
Getting it to work properly took a while but once we found the right method for it then in 87% of the test we got clean penetration and a full spread once it fragmented, the explosive added the require force so the fragments would spread out as they were released and always resulted in the internal circuitry being shredded in the area of impact as well as shrapnel going fairly deep into the steel before completely losing it's force.

For testing we were using an American LW50 heavy machinegun firing a .223 modified round.
Modified because we had to remove the tip and replace it with a small AP round to allow it to penetrate effectively and had to place a tiny charge inside to give the fragments the spread and force needed to cause substantial internal damage.
