Personally, I wouldn't have let them successfully make the AK with more powerful rounds in 1926, and I would have allowed them to devote their engineers to railguns and rocket boots only to see them not work/kill people in their testing phase, but that's just me.

IMO, AVA-25 is  not AK, it's something closer to that - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1918_Browning_Automatic_Rifle

Also, first weapon that could be call assault rifle was developed in 1915 - Fedorov Avtomat

I am against the cruiser, mostly because I can't see how can it be designed under current rules, it's more than size 10 ship

it is more like a SVT-38 or a  AVS-36 as in that it 7.62x54R.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

I can't understand how caliber makes one weapon similar to another... bolt action rile and machine gun can use the same round.  And basically same weapon can use  different chambers

Various versions of BAR used different ammo - 7.62x63mm, 7.7x56mmR, 7x57mm, 7.92x57mm ...
 7.62x54mm could be used, too.

no it's not- you will notice it doesn't have selective fire, just automatic (making it explicitly not like those two).

I feel that an assault rifle, as long as we clarified the design somewhat, would be something like this:

SVA-20
30-Round Sickle Magazine
20-inch barrel
Firing Modes- Safe, Semi, Full-Auto
Pistol Grip

Yes, I did just reinvent the AK-47. With some elements of other assault rifles thrown in for effectiveness. Though there are several design clarifications i would like to make, I would also like to note that I have an entire weapons series based around the same reciever, with the only different ammo being the SMG. It's to ease manufacturing, and we can learn from the AK's/M-16's flaws.

OK, after getting some more info, I just can't let mesor's utter bullshit go. There is no way in hell those experiments he did actually happened, especially with a weapon that never made it into service shooting ammo it was not designed to shoot, penning that much steel to boot. Dude, you can defend positions without resorting to complete lies you know!

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

2 points that need to be made.

Firstly, defending your position at all is impossible since every time somebody has tried to it has resulted in the same thing, the same people repeating that there idea is correct and better over and over until the defender gets bored of a pointless arguement.

Secondly, did I ever state I used the real gun at all? I stated that was the weapon used yes, on a computer, running simulations that cost a couple of hundred pounds, not tens of thousands. It's generally a good idea to ask for the full details before coming to a conclusion based on half the facts but anyway since it seems Brood has dropped out now I don't need to defend anything at all.

Well, to be fair, it did sound like you had used the real weapon. But still. Please guys, no more three-page long arguements.

I don't intend to argue at all, I'm going to wait and see if anybody comes up with anything interesting enough to be worth talking about, rather then the very boring very rational things being used so far.

I did intend it to sound that way as well mostly to trigger that kind of result though I was hoping it would be Ukranian who assumed it and not tryrar but no matter.

How does reinventing the AK, with improvements, and basing an entire line of weapons off the same receiver sound?

It's not that radical, but it's still a good bit earlier than the German StG-44.

More interesting then most of the others, but it depends on what your planning to do with it, theres not very much you can do without it ceasing to be an AK at all.

Can I ask why you picked the AK other then that it's a weapon thats easy to build?

It pretty much uses the same cartridge as the Mosin-Nagant, and any assault rifle we build at first is probably going to look similar- I'm just using some good features from it, as well as some good features from others. Hence, it's going to sound very similar to the AK on paper, aside for some differences like a longer barrel, inventing muzzle brakes, reinforcing the stamped-metal receivers, so we can still manufacture cheaply and easily while still maintaining accuracy, etc.

Whatever. Sim or not(and there is a really BIG difference between a sim and real life, no matter how realistic you make it), I'm not feeling like arguing with you.

One nitpick I have about trying to invent the AK at this time is that we have some more pressing priorities at the moment-namely getting at least ONE example of a working aircraft for our air force!

I never said it was a priority, it's just that I find it easier to design rifles than planes and ships. Hence, I design infantry weapons.

Ah, ok then. Next time we have time to update our infantry weapons, I'll back your design :P :D
