Roll to Dungeon Quest - Chapter 1.85
« Reply #1082 on: November 23, 2013, 04:36:49 pm »

Turn Eighty Five

Action: Onward to Glor....zzzzzz..I mean, ahem...Rescue Medha!

"No sleep penalties yet,” realises Lady Foxglove, checking her mental character sheet for negative statuses, "I should be good to go... must... rescue... Medha...

I swear it's taken me twice as lo-"

...She suddenly realises with a jolt that th-

"Oh! Already here! Wake up, Tacky!"

Get carried.  If I wake up, put on clothes.

Lady Foxglove swoops down, expertly piloting the squid, but slightly forgetting that said squid is carrying a naked wizard. The ground helps him wake up as she comes in to land, coming silently to rest mere feet from the hole into which Medha has been lost.

...Tackov, who notices that it is quite cold, up here in the mountains, in late Novemberish time, jumps to his feet and tries to cover his head with a sock.

”Wow... that was quick. Rough landing though, Foxy...”

"Shh! Medha's hole is just over there! Who knows what we might find in there..."

Lady Foxglove gives the warsquid a generous headrub, and looks about.

The mountainside is silent, and deserted. The moon is still high, and dawn probably a couple of hours off.

Search about for the exotic plants I require.

Dawn's being a couple of hours off is a bit of a pain, really: down in the valley, dawn has somewhat arrived. Maybe the angle of the mountains is blocking the sun or something.

"What a highly pleasant nap that was," assesses the well-slept Gervedder. "Now it is time to do something more useful."

He searches about on the ground. He spots something interesting. He consults the diagrams in his book. He gets down and lies on the cold earth. He gets closer, and consults the diagrams in his book again.

...Gervedder has found some Alpine Groundsell, it would seem.

Before he has time to triple check, he is interrupted.

Search for the place the alcohol supplies in the Miner's camp were stored, for that's surely where Bukkar ended up if anything survived the fire. Also, check out the remains of whatever sort of armory or tool supply station they had, too.

"Gervedder, I think we lost another drunk little bugger. I'm going to check various locations in the remains of the camp for him."

...Whiz, although no one knows it, is quite the tracker. He heads to where Bukkar was last seen, which was, of course, his nearby barrel. That is to say, he was last seen entering it.

He looks about for a sign of some sort, and soon finds one.

There is a definite trail of vomit leading away from the barrel, in the direction of Mount Kuriel.

Whiz follows the trail, unsure if perhaps it's just an unnoticed trail of vomit that Bukkar left on the way to the camp, but then, a few hundred metres out, he notices a strange indentation in the grass a few feet off the vomit trail.

He moves in closer.

Yep.

There's a drunkard, lying face down.

It's hard to tell, but from behind it doesn't look like Bukkar.

Wake up somewhere surrounded by alcohol containers of all shapes and sizes.

Feck.

Bukkar rolls over.

Arse.

He rolls back over, and grasps his head in his hands.

Fecking arse.

He tries to get up, but crashes face first into a rather small nearby barrel.

Ohgoodgodsmyhead.

Bukkar is, even for his standards, exceptionally hungover. He's been trying to open his eyes for over an hour, but even the pitch blackness of the cold stony room he seems to be in is too bright for their fragile state.

Need... bacon...

...He tries again to stand, but only seems to be able to wave his arms frantically about – which increases his terrible headpain – each time crashing his hands or elbows or any other twitching body part into yet another suspiciously small sized barrel. The barrels seem, in the dark, to be of many shapes, and many sizes – just all the sizes appear to begin with small.

"Who is this?"

Flip Probably-Not-Buukar over.

Whiz flips Probably-Not-Bukkar over. Turns out it's Definitely-Not-Bukkar. It looks suspiciously like a randomly encountered drunkard - one who's received a blow to the face from someone with a particularly powerful punch.

Try to find a wall and stand up by leaning on that.

Feckgrabldagad.

...Bukkar crawls about on the floor for a few minutes until he bumps his head against something that, whilst hard, isn't hard in the same way the various barrels he's been clattering out of his way were hard. He slowly manages to raise himself up, leaning against the-

Moving wall? Feck?

The stone door creeps open as Bukkar collapses forwards, revealing a staggeringly, blindingly, horrifyingly bright dim light beyond and, standing in the glare of the dim light, a rather surprised kobold walking towards the door Bukkar's slumping body has just opened.

"Eeek?"

Search Definitely-Not-Bukkar for valuables and loot before absconding further down the bright yellow vomit road.

Drunkenly vomit into kobold's face to startle it, then rear up like a beaches whale and bite its head off.

"Hm."

Harvest the thorns of this plant. Even if it's not the right one, it should be close enough that my mistake is excusable. Go and find Whiz afterwards.

If you've been eaten and you don't want me to rescue you, just don't say anything, and I can go get some sleep...good, good..."

Anyone want to suggest an action for Medha so we don't wait for Errol?

Cos I could totally start an update, at least, while I wait for my ladypigeons to gather their thoughts.

Perhaps some actual, y'know, questin' will get done at some point.

Uhm...

Well, she's in a locked room with someone opening the door, I believe. She's either got to fight her way out or surrender, depending on who, what and how many are waiting for her.
