on the plus side Divinity is as of RIGHT NOW the most successful videogame kickstarter to date.

In that it so far made a great game.

There are others too that done just as well and are finished, but they are lesser known.

Gonna guess I'll immediately will know why I'll love him as soon as I play

I don't want to play because I want a Divinity buddy but my friend who I thought was gonna buy didn't... and I got decently far with my "test team".

I also learned that the starting knife is better then the one you can forge immediately.

I played with the AI turned on... unfortunately they fought me on every decision and for SOME REASON "Scamp" means Maniac...

I also suck at rock scissor paper

I'm loving my shadowblade. All the fun of rogue sneaking and backstabbing when the enemy positions allow. And when she can't do that, she can summon a skeleton meatshield and malediction my mage for some massive nukes. So versatile!

I wouldn't say you need to exhaustively do everything, but it'd be a good idea to clear most of it to ensure you're sufficiently leveled/geared to handle the enemies on the forest map.  Unless you're handling them just fine as it is, in which case bash on.  You can always go back later if you feel the need.

Thanks, I moreso was thinking "could" than "should" and that answers it, I'm a bit of a completionist so I'll wrap it all up before continuing on, since otherwise it'll probably be way too easy if I come back.

If you're worried about playing the game the "right way," consider a few points.

First, by and large all the loot is random. This means you're not missing out on the Uber Leet Sword of Pwnage in the dungeon you just missed.

Second, teleporting back to prevous areas is free once you hit a certain point in the game. I won't spoil the details, but it happens fairly soon if you follow the main story quest.

Third, a certain NPC that sells items that boost your stats and skills refreshes their inventory each time you level up. That means the earlier you get to that NPC the bigger the advantage to your characters, as the bonuses aren't retroactive for previous levels. This is practically the only disadvantage to wandering around and exploring, as you can't min-max your characters if you level up too many times from the bonus exploration and combat exp for side quests.

But ultimately the game is best when you enjoy the journey instead of trying to make it a speed run. Unless you enjoy speed runs. Then go for it. Play it however you want.

With enough work and polish, it could have been a forgettable flash game on Kongregate.

Not to my knowledge. It didn't get funded in the kickstarter.

There are certainly a few missions that would have been a lot easier if a few NPCs would go to bed.

Not to my knowledge. It didn't get funded in the kickstarter.

That is a real shame, although I guess it'd be a ridiculous amount of work to put in after release. Still, I find even superficial day/night cycles enjoyable enough, especially if they interact with spells/creatures.

Apparently the refreshing has been taken away with one of the recent patches :(
