It is now our unofficial backstory, if everyone is okay with that.

Lets go for the Borma contract- bring the sword, shield, crossbow & silver mace. Perhaps clacklance, (x-factor, likely not needed. I think it's bad luck, {volatile}).

Dunno about the Oceania one, kind of allies us against the Litelachian forces. Even if we're only under contract, we'd still make enemies amongst Kiltran's apparent allies.
Apparantly hiketo swamp was Kiltrar v Litelach, so...yeah. Oceania contract gets my vote, Borma next, (if it's still available- might get snapped up if we don't get it now, (and it might be worth big money, each knight we're able to take down is another 100- thinking another 1800S net profit there)). Whaddya think, will it still be around?

-edit
The oceanian one will require us to hire & organize a company of mercs as well...so complications & not a flat payout.

No, the Gray Blades are supposed to contract the 100 soldiers, give them a leader, and send them out. Thats how they get paid. You're being contracted as a foot soldier, so that is no concern of yours. If you were famous or if this were a larger operation you might be hired on as an officer, or if you had a band of your own you could just take them along and the company would fill in the remaining spots. You can get temporary hires (either knights or trained soldiers) at the fortress hall to come with you for a single mission, or some untrained guys if you're looking for something cheap or you're doing something dirty at any tavern. You'll pick up party members as you go, and they'll just live at the fortress with you (if they're main characters) or at a lodge in town (if they're permanent hires (require a weekly salary) or loyal mooks (no salary)).

I support Borma Peak mission though we should hire on some people to help if we are going with that mission, as for weapons bring the shield, sword and crossbow. Leave the maces behind, we don't wanna be going anywhere with those things for a little while at least, it'll mark us as a target if someone sees us carrying those things around and before we do that lets get a few more battles under our belt.

Also, the company pays for a single car to drive you one-way on missions that are outside the region, so once you're done you have to make your own way back or pay the car to wait somewhere until you're done. Its 20 Silvers a day in a peacetime area and 50 for a warzone (as in there's a campaign going on in the area). You could always buy your own car but its expensive (2000 Silvers for a clunker, less for a personal (non-transport) car but those are flimsy). Don't worry about food or anything like that.

So the Varen contract is in that bit on the western coast of the Continent near Kiltra and the Choko beach one is on those two tiny hexes of Litelachian territory on the bottom of the map.

I'd agree with keeping the maces at home, but not on the Borma mission- would be good to have a form of crushing damage, (would shield bash work?), but yeah. Hide one. Ask the senator sometime if he could look after it, (shoot, if he doesn't want to, then just give it back to him- better than not using it & losing it). But in the meantime, take one when we need it.

Also: we know others know we have those maces in our apartment, and that they can get in without waking us. Hmm.

I say oceania first, (leave mace at home), then borma (mace), maybe choko in-between (no mace).

Gunin: where are we on the map? What's the scale?

How much enemy resistance would we encounter on the Borma mission?  What forces would we have on our side by default?  These are all things we should consider before making our choice.  I don't think we should take the mission unless we have a rough estimate of the enemy forces, so we can decide if we want to recruit people ourselves or whatever.

So without intel for the former, I say Bané Bané.

Edit: On another note entirely

Now the twin maces are another story entirely.
They're valuable beyond measure. All the gold in the world wouldn't be enough to buy even half of either one, not that you could destroy one if you wanted to. Patrichlan artefacts are wondrous things, powerful and dangerous, with a nebulous nature and origins founded in blood and magic. They are the key to our world's past. It is said that holy weapons just such as these are the only way to enter their sunken temples, in which lie the greatest treasures in all the land.
If you ever do venture near the coast, be on guard. They will never cease their hunt, to return what is rightfully theirs.

No magic. Warfare involves Knights backed by armour back by infantry. No magic. When I say armour, look at my avatar and you'll get the idea of what I mean by that. Knights are immensely powerful and there are usually about 10 for every 100 men. Only soldiers of Kiltrar are all armed with firearms, other countries will have riflemen companies as a supplement but most of their troops will simply be armed with spears or blades.

Kiltrar is the only place that is truly industrialised, but there's always some people in every country that rely on machines during daily life.

So still no magic?  Are extremely advanced technology and magic considered the same thing by some people?  Just clarifying because I'm kind of curious just how special these maces are and how they might play into the plot.

Oh and I also noticed that there was mention of "burnt shells of tanks" in one of the first posts.  How prevalent are tanks and how does a knight compare to one for purposes of combat?

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

I am familiar with the quote but in this circumstance I think clarifying with the GM couldn't hurt.  Especially when you consider the implications of what advanced technology from the past could mean.

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
       - Arthur C. Clarke
Any sufficiently ancient skills are indistinguishable from magic.
       - Me
Really only applies assuming the current civilization does not possess said skills or technology.

So basically this all raises a couple questions.  What about the weapons is "magical"?  Can current in game technology produce a similar weapon?  If not then why?  If the current civilization can make tanks and guns then why would an even more advanced civilization be making indestructible maces?

Sorry, I think I'm over thinking all of this because I'm drunk... still it's kind of fun.
