The guild is up! Both of the name suggestions were too long so I just went with DrunkenBeard. Post your character names in here so I can add you to the guild.

Won't there be a reset when the game goes live?

Nope, there won't be a reset.

"The customization and progression of all characters, any skills learned and items attained during the Second Closed Beta will not be reset and will be available for players to resume upon the next play period of Age of Wushu."

So, im confused. What is this game's combat like? I saw some videos and it looked purty darn cool, but I am wary because it's an MMO: is it standard "press key and repeat" or is there some actual flow to this game? The blocking leads me to believe that AoW is more freeform, but I have yet to experience it myself.

Just got back from a wedding and what do you know? Gamespot is giving out beta codes.

The combat flows pretty well. There are 5 kinds of moves. Attack moves do exactly what they say on the tin. Feint moves do regular damage as well as doing more damage to blocks. Block moves are different from actual blocking. Block moves give buffs to your blocking. For example, the blocking move in Emei's 2nd skill set gives an effect to anybody you block that slows them down 20%, and it stacks up to 3 times. The bonuses you get from block moves last until you die. Rage attacks do a large amount of damage but they consume rage, which you gain by blocking and attacking(?). How rage is gained is pretty mysterious, but it seems that blocking is your best bet. The last group of moves, utilities, don't really fit in anywhere else. They can be buffs or, like in Emei's 2nd set, an attack that moves your enemy away from you.

I'm quite sure i can't run this game on my steam engine BUT i decided to read the guide anyway.

And what do i see?

"Offline players have white names and no symbol. They also act like NPCs, and have boring titles like 'Waiter' and 'Courtesan'. When you're offline in AoW, your character might take a job and earn you some money. That's what those people are doing."

That's something both obvious and creative at the same time.

Also looking at the combat mechanics i assume it's more like "Jade Empire" than WoW.

I remember there being a "Play Time" limiter for those that choose the F2P model, is that still there, if so how Intrusive to any common gamer's actual play time???

There's still a limit, and it'll be up until the release on the 10th. It's not too intrusive, and you can have a pretty good time in the hour given. I normally don't play longer than an hour or two on games anyway, so I suppose it doesn't bother me as much. It can be a bit annoying if you're doing internal cultivation, though.

And yeah, the guild is still up, Urist.

So now that the game has actually been released, we've got a new system called meridians. It's also horribly, horribly translated. Nothing was ever really revealed about meridians before this update, so everybody is equally clueless. Normally the bad translations are harmless at worst and hilarious at best (although the patch fixed a ton of them) but this is just awful. I've figured out that the Dantian Element is like the internal you get at the start of the game and is absolutely terrible. The other meridians are school based, which is why everyone in the beta was buying a ton of internals from other schools. Also, you get chi from fighting. That's about it, really.

What am I even looking at?

Looks like you're channelling chi through specific nodes of your body for... some reason. At least that's what I can guess from my tiny knowledge about Wushu.
