It's still painful having a single 20mm cannon as only weaponry... what ? do the mg's even count ?

Don't underestimate the MGs, they can do wonders
And a single 20mm should be enough, as long as you line up your shots carefully

Sure it can... i mean i did get kills in Arcade using a BF109 before unlocking the pods but it was a chore.
The 7mm MGs alone can't do jack at tier 2 and 3.
I had a Spitfire wiyh 7 mm MGs chasing me for minutes when i was flying some tier 2 american fighter/bomber thing.
My entire plane was dark red but he just couldn't finish me off... and i finally died to ground AAA fire from airfield batteries.

The 7mm's are only good for trying to set someone on fire. I run the tracer belts whenever I can since those usually have the most incendiary rounds in them, plus they look cool when they fill the sky around someone.

I'm quite sure the german tracer belts (at least the ones i saw) have mostly APT bullets in them. Germans only get Inc rounds in their Universal belts.

Could be, then again, most of the german planes I fly don't actually have the 7mm's.

I know the brits do that thing with the tracer/incendiary ammo.

That's teh thing. Germans get devastating 20mm mine rounds for their 20 mm cannons that hit above their class and the 20 mm pods just worked so well with them because they added extra 2 20 mm cannons with their own mine rounds. Now the 15 mm pods don't get to use that type of ammo... sooo they are a straight up downgrade.

Ho229 confirmed for next big update. I want this plane in my bed eerrr... I mean in my lineup.

Also it apparently has only 2 cannons. I hope they are MK103's and not 20mm's.

I'm almost sure its going to get 30 mm. I mean damn 2 20 mm at tier 5 would be a total joke in arcade and sub par in realistic.

Though the Volksjäger has 2 20mm's and I hear it is not awful nevermind that it apparently is the shittiest jet ever

Depends on the BR honestly, the Yak-15's have joke guns while at the same time being shitty jets :S

Also had a funny moment while playing the biathlon event today. Was in my B-17E trying to get to the ground units to bomb them, but a pesky Me410B decided to cut my tail off before that could happen. As the plane is spiralling out of control the dumb fuck decides to continue flying over me. So I man the gunners and try spraying him, hoping for atleast some damage.

In a stroke of luck, as the plane spins, the fire streaks over his left wing and neatly slices it off.

So far Gaijin has been giving every plane its historical armaments. Reading up on the Ho 229 suggests that the original plans had it armed with 2x MK108 30mm cannon, but the government air ministry told them to make it four. The screenshots suggest that Gaijin is going with two 30mm MK108 cannons.

M2 Brownings are ridiculously powerful in War Thunder right now. It's kinda disgusting how it's far easier to blow someone up with them than, for example, the German MG151/20 20mm cannons installed in most of their fighters.
Personally I'm just gonna keep flying IL-2 until they fix the hit detection for 20mm cannons, which was completely fucked over in the last patch. I'm getting sparkles like never before both in my Russian cannon-armed planes and their German counterparts.

American AN/M2 cannons are probably still working fine, though. Because America.

I wouldn't be /too/ concerned with Horton's guns. Keep in mind it's a bomber first and foremost, it's probably not going to be particularly good at aiming at things.
