I'm down to farm some fruits. Grains would be useful too.

Workers for this week?

That grass should sound simple to farm, if I know anything about growing grass. Just dump the seeds and apply water.

Farm the grass too.

===Week 3===
With the new week you decide to use the farm to plant some orchards.  You have your workers go along and plant a seed in set intervals.  It will be 1 year until they start producing food, and when they grow there'll be 100 trees, and they'll produce 1000 food/year.  The upkeep of this farm will take 2 workers/week.  Oddly enough, there are none of the predators around this week that have plagued you earlier.  You also consider farming the grass, but there already exists natural fields of it, extending for many kilometers around.  You don't need to worry running out of it for years to come.
After the farm is finished you have your workers start cataloging the copse for useful materials.  They chop down one of the trees with the stone axes brought with you, not without some effort though.  The trees are made up of very dense wood, and it takes all of the workers and warriors to move it into the hive.  It looks like it will be very good for the production of sturdy tools, but you'll need other materials to make more than basic spears.  They also find some vines that may be useful for rope, and several species of mushrooms with unknown properties.  They cataloging will continue for another 2 weeks, requiring 2 workers/week to do so.
You lay another 35 workers this week.

---Suggested Actions---
 -Workshops
 -Food processing
-Mines(note: workers can dig through stone with no problem)
 -(Required)Next weeks clutch
 -(Required)Name fruit in orchard
 -Something else?

I suggest sending some scouting parties of 2 workers and a warrior each. See what's in the immediate area that we haven't found.

And/or we could dig down to find the water-table and/or some stone.

Well, I'm just jumping in, but mayby we could chop more trees and reinforce the enterance tunnel, add some traps, perhaps?

Also, mayby we should dig a food storage area.

That works, too!

Did we build guard-house and worker-den for protection of both our Lair and our sons and daughters?

Actually, we should focus on improving our hive. Let's see.

Have the workers dig:
  • Food storage area
  • Armory
  • Expanded dorms
  • Reinforced enterance
  • Guard post at enterance to lair and hatchery

I'd also like to note that the entire point of food production is to increase the calories produced per acre above that of the surroundings. Thus, trying to farm grass would be pointless unless we could use some method to increase the caloric production of grass above the value of normal fields somehow.

Only way to do that would be to do selective breeding.

I see a problem. The orchard will produce 1000 food in one year, but by then our needs will have increased by at least 1815 (35 workers/week * 52 weeks in a year), and probably more than 2000.
We need more food. I dont remember how long it takes for eggs to hatch, but we should find more immediate and efficient food sources.

Producing grass won't be useless in the long run if we decide to tame the bison. We won't need a lot of grass at first, but eventually we'll need and breed more bison and by then, we'll have a lot of grass to feed the bison. I suggest using the selective breeding Descan was talking about to make big, fat bison. We could also use them for fertilizer.

What about growing some tall grass in front of the hive entrance to hide it from others and use them as ambushing sites for enemies when they come close.
