Until the end of turn, yes. Obviously progeny takeover won't involve that.

GG: If people were to instead teach me this turn, could they then come back next turn without being affected by the progeny rule?

And so ended the First Age of Man...

But surely some will survive? Of course, and they will sow the seeds for the Second Age, and the New Men that come after them. But eventually, they too will fade, remnants of a time passed, and the First Age, along with the disaster that marked it's end, will become a distant memory and then nothing, except the story I tell you now.

The future we live in is built on those who worked and studied and eventually gave their lives that we may live and surpass them. That is a simple fact. You may argue that you have built something great and wonderful, but I ask - On whose shoulders did you stand? The shoulders of skeletons, unsung and long buried giants that made the life you live possible. Those who first broke the ground, those who first coaxed new life from the seed, those who learned to guide the water that would nourish it. Could your great feats have been achieved without the miracles of agriculture that were finally brought under the control of humanity during that era? Of course not.

You did not, alone, build yourself up from nothing. None of us ever really have. Even the first men would have died off without the others of their kind to support them in times of hardship and share the journey of discovery.

What of the stories that the First Men did not age? Ah, but that is a tale for another day. But know this - there is little that lasts forever. Certainly not men. All that survives is the imprint we leave on the future, and eventually we all must make way for a time that no longer has a place for us.

GG: If people were to instead teach me this turn, could they then come back next turn without being affected by the progeny rule?
I'm gonna go with no.

in that case, the only knowledge I have is advanced farming and irrigation. others will have to be relearnt :/
For items, im not gonna record it, just assume you you took it back, if that's ok?

I very much doubt you'll be the only "survivor". Toaster and as1 stasised early and will probably see this through as well.

((I would argue in lieu of GG as I know he's an honest man and a great guy; and the fact that you're actually feeling the effects of the plague - ie, hopelessness and being scr- but I won't expound on that.

While I'm at a detriment due to the 8 health, I'm pretty sure there's a cure for starvation...somewhere. Maybe.))

I'm prepared to hold onto items for people, in return for a possible incarnation as one of your children. (is that ok Glyph?)

I'm also prepared to change my turn to learn knowledge for redistribution, and starve instead, as long as the above is accepted.
This holds true for me too, though.

Anyhow, excuse me but I'm bored. So I'll just put this in.

PPE: XD, so there was a flavor post! Nice one GG! Take the above as an opinion of one of the people then. :P

Oh and why the hell not. My lineage is hereby known as the Phoenix lineage. My trinket is now the Phoenix Amulet.

While I'm at a detriment due to the 8 health, I'm pretty sure there's a cure for starvation...somewhere. Maybe.))
If there is any, it would have taken at least ten turns simply to know there is.

So, is anyone resetting today? If you'd like to reset, say suicide or retire and then post a turn for a new character.

I'll skip tonight and give people until tomorrow if they want to do this.

GreatWyrmGold, I'll Procreate with you you sexy beast you seem to be fairly able to provide for offspring.
edit: GreatWyrm, also... would you be willing to give me one of your trinkets? ;)
Sure. Would you like one of my extra plots of land? After all, when we have three mouths to feed, we can't have you spending all your time partying...
Oh, and when should we procreate?

I'm rather angry and pondering dropping this game flat.
Nooo! How can I support a family when half of those giving me research grants drop out? Think of the hypothetical child!

GreatWyrmGold:
if I understand correctly you'll be the one to carry the time penalty the round after the procreation. as such I'm ready when you are stud-muffin.
if the time penalty also effects me... it would help me to wait a round so I can potentially build up some food to compensate.

also, just the trinket is fine, I will try to get another plot of empty land and irrigate it, but seeing as you only have 2 of them yourself I wouldn't feel good in accepting such a grand offer.
I doubt our species has a concept of monogamy or marriage, but I will strive to aid you in the burden of providing for our offspring.

also... I Party not only for myself, but for the good of all. you should consider socialising twice with me stud-muffin ;) I'll give your happiness a nice little buffer.
finally, I'll be starving this round, which will hurt my work potential. if you can spare the food it would be most welcome, but I understand its a whole lot to ask and regardless of the answer I shall strive to ease the burden of raising our offspring to the best of my abilities.

Alright, editing my post. No procreation just yet, in part because we are in a pretty poor spot for food...
