i greatly enjoy how they just went along with it

They didn't know until after they started, and even then it's hard to tell how much they knew.

i don't really know how this kinda march works, but i assume you don't just shut off your consciousness for the time period

they were informed at least three times they're raising money for something

Well, seeing as neo-nazis aren't quite famed for their rugged individualism, it's not quite impossible herd mentality kicked in. Also, some who did know probably just kept marching out of spite towards the attempts to stop them.

How feeble would it look if they decided to give in? The dangerous and feared skinheads de-fanged by some bananas, colourful banners and a few thousand euros. I don't know if they think this way, but the PR cost of not marching, particularly in the minds of their target recruitment demographic, is probably assessed to be higher than the potential lost members due to any extra funding given to their opposition. Also, the value of the march in reinforcing their identity, unity, and so on.

I doubt they imagine the programs aimed at unbrainwashing their members are actually very effective, anyway. As with religion, I'm sure the following rationalisation comes up: if they turn their back on the ideology, they must not have been true adherents in the first place, thus are no great loss.

The third option would be to violently oppose the protestors, tear up the signs, start punching people etc.  neo-nazis kind of suck these days.

In which event they get arrested, fined and have to pay compensation. They lose again.
Providing they get caught and don't just fight the police that come to arrest them. See: Antifa vs Skinheads

There probably was more riot police there than Neo-Nazis, as it often is at these kinds of events. That march in Wunsiedel has been a tradition since 1987 when Rudolf Hess died (he came up earlier in the thread) and was buried there. The city has gone to great lenghts to prevent these marches, they even removed the grave and gave Hess' remains a sea-burial a few years ago, but the Neo-nazis keep coming. I doubt this will have any effect at all, but the idea is certainly clever and hilarious.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I am still trying to rationalize what persuaded those green voters to switch to UKIP.

I like how "Don't know" doesn't exist in 2010, but is only slightly smaller than UKIP in 2014.

Good question.
I understand there are a lot of UKIP voters who just didn't look into it enough to realise that voting UKIP wasn't most in line with their ideals, but if you were already voting Green...
Fucking mystery.

Sure they lose, but they maintain their credentials as violent pricks.

Well, I'm sure you had a constituency of the Greens that treated them as a mere protest vote, and switched to UKIP. Also, you do have quite a lot of eurosceptics in left-wing parties generally.

Doesn't surprise me much either. While the Green party in the Netherlands isn't euro-sceptic as far as I know, the Socialist Party definitely is.

In Belgium the party certainly is not eurosceptic, but many of the rank-and-file member are.

Also, lots of left-wing people here often post videos of Farage's interventions in the EP,because they don't actually know about him, just like his euroscepticism.

UKIP just won a by-election with a majority of 2000 votes, overturning a Tory majority of 9000+. Their candidate was awful and they still won. Lib Dems possibly lost their deposit to a dominatrix. Interesting days ahead for WM with two UKIP MPs.
