With the LAPD's track record so far, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out the person in the cabin was a 12 year old Vietnamese kid.

Who killed a police officer and injured another, that much is known.

It isn't clear who started the fire either, it could have been Dorner using it as a distraction to help him escape.

The fire may well have been unintentional. If they were exchanging gunfire they could have hit the propane system.

EDIT: Now they're saying tear gas canisters may have done it.

I think it was probably intentional, either an attempt to create a distraction by Dorner or caused by the police.

BBC was reporting confirmed body, but they've changed it to "No body found in California cabin"


However, it's also saying that the site has not yet been searched.

Yay to 24 hour news coverage, I guess. Someone put out bad information and it looks like everyone jumped on it, then LAPD said that they don't have a body but haven't searched the cabin yet.

Nobody seems to have a clue what is going on. I've heard "he's dead", "there's a body but it can't be identified" and "they haven't searched the cabin yet". All in the last few hours, and in that order.

If they did let this cabin burn to the ground then any bodies they recover might be rather difficult to immediately identify. I'm guessing it's probably likely that he was in that cabin... but we probably won't know for sure until some months later when forensics is done.
