Ex-LA Cop Goes On Rampage
« on: February 07, 2013, 07:35:50 pm »

So.. yeah. This guy released his manifesto, and he is pissed.

Apparently he's been blackballed one too many times and has had enough.

Relevant: The truck of two women was hot up because it "looked like his." He's reported to be driving a charcoal grey Nissan.

What is with all these people and their manifesto's? The whole plan of the crazy in Alabama was to air his greivances on the television.

The whole thing sounds like a movie synopsis.

My gut feeling is that he's telling the truth about being wrongfully accused, and all the people he worked under/etc were immoral assholes. That obviously doesn't justify his violent spree, though.

He might've had my sympathy if he didn't go after family members who haven't wronged him just to get back at the people who did.

Well yeah, it's the LAPD. They're not exactly the most moral bunch, as demonstrated by shooting at 3 people who were in a vehicle similar to the suspects.

Manifesto is too long to skim. Can someone summarize?

He's already killed one guy and tried for three, not counting the family members.  There's no non-defense situation where that's acceptable behavior.

I think I am starting to get why people in the US are so big on gun rights, especially the right to carry hand guns around in public.
If the police were more likely to shoot at me than offer any kind of protection, I might like to arm myself as well.

The end goal would be to get guns out of the hands of police as well, barring specialized units. That aside, shooting back at police just makes it worse. If they shoot at you, you'll probably die. If you shoot back, they'll go out of their way to kill you. If you actually kill any of them, there's pretty much no way you're going to get out of it alive, barring fleeing to a place that doesn't have an extradition treaty.

I think I'm starting to get why everybody who I have ever known visiting from the States says that they are thinking very strongly about moving here.

They actually had to do entire cases if resisting "Unlawful arrest" is legal.

Which you would think is a no brainer... afterall getting away from a abusive cop should be entirely legal because cops are not allowed to... Yet no...

Manifesto is too long to skim. Can someone summarize?
He was a scapegoat for something or other and got fired unfairly, losing his dream job. He also has depression.

He reported an officer for kicking a handcuffed suspect. The "trial" was overseen almost entirely by people who knew the offending officer and let her off scott free. He was then run out of the force for several unrelated incidents, including assaulting another officer who used a racial slurr against him, and "making false statements" about an officer, which were apparently true.

Good god that's long, but having read most of it this honestly looks like an intelligent, upstanding and thoughtful guy who just plain snapped. If even half of what he's written is true it sounds like justice failed him completely so he's gone out to make his own. With bullets.

I think if I were told that I had six months left to live, I'd become a vigilante dispensing justice to a world that has too little of it.
