Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The jetcopter begins its decent, as your mask pops off your face once again. You look outside, finding yourself in the middle of a calm ocean. Everyone readies their new weapons as the jetcopter begins its decent. You can't see what Oto is flying towards, though the ocean seems to get closer every minute. Soon, the jetcopter plants itself on a concrete "H", and your squad exits. You look around, finding yourself on a relatively small offshore platform, about the size of two normal buildings. Several large steel columns rise up to the concrete base, with unimpressive steel structures jutting out of it, making it look like a half-finished skyscraper of sorts. That is one word that describes this strange place well, unfinished. You follow the squad along, leading to heavy door, like one you would expect to see on a submarine, in the concrete. As your squad approaches, the door opens with a squeak.

You file into the room behind Oto and David once again, Tommy and Helena apparently still slowed by their massive guns. You find yourself in a poorly lit stairway, like one used to get into a subway station, with long concrete stairs leading you downward. A man, a middle aged looking man with dark hair and glasses, walks next to Otonashi as he passes. His long lab coat trails behind him slightly. He begins to speak to Otonashi, not loud enough that you can hear the entire conversation but loud enough that you can catch snippets. "Hi Otonashi! I have not seen you in....How is the wife?.......Sorry I...." is what you could hear from the man, taking a familiar tone in a relatively high voice. He continues to lead the squad downward for several moments, small talking with Oto the entire way.

You soon make it to a second submarine like door, which the man in the lab coat opens. It leads you into a better lit room, open to the elements, with a small boat on a cement dock. There where two woman standing next to it, both greeting your squad with a salute. One was a relatively tall woman, relative to the average human that is. She had shortish blond hair down to the neck, under a black beret with a modified Archangel logo on it, a white and gold shield larger then that on the standard logo with the word "Guardian" on it. Her salute was rather casual, and she had a happy smile on her face, as if she was exited about the upcoming battle. She had a large shotgun on her back, one that appears to be the same model that Tommy is currently using. The next individual was shorter then the average person, with dark brown hair a little shorter then the blond's hair. She was wearing a similar beret, but had a much more serious looking salute and face. Her equipment resembled Helena's more then anyone else's, with three guns on her back. Two look like the one Tommy brought along, large but not so much that a human would not be able to lift it, however the third was a large grenade launcher that looks like it should be fired from a jeep.

Your squad files into the "room" with the lab coat wearing man close behind. The short individual looks like she is about to speak, when she is interrupted by Tommy. "...Bubi?" he asked curiously, looking at the blond woman. "Helena? Tommy?" her high-pitch voiced responded. "Bubi!" Helena and Tommy enthusiastically shout as they lose the slow speed they had been walking at to rush toward her. The woman they called Bubi got on her knees and entered a kind of group hug with the two squad members, their weaponry clanking with the force. "I didn't think I would see you two here." she states as she gets up, smiling warmly at the two young squad members as she pats their heads affectionately, as if they where dogs. "You two have grown up a lot, haven't you?" she said, continuing to smile. "We havn't seen you since this all started!" Tommy states happily, "Yep! We can take out armies of mooks all by ourselves now!" Helena states. "Wow, looks like you have been eating your vegetables Helena! Your carrying that FIM-92 Stinger, that FGM-148 Javelin, and that Accuracy International like it is nothing! With all the extra ammo!" "Bubi" states, speaking to Helena. "But did you ever learn to aim?" she continued, her voice changing slightly. "Ehhh....Ijustkindaruntowardthemandspam" Helena replies, nervously. "Bubi" lightly taps Helena on her head with her fist, as she said "What have I always told you? Fight with your head, not your muscles. All those vegetables are nothing if you can't hit!" she then turns her gaze to Tommy. "And what happened to your Remington and Winchester? Where they not good enough for you?" she said jokingly. "AhnoIjustleftheminthecopter...." Tommy responds, at which the blond woman laughs. "Just kidding!" she stated happily, as she pulled her large shotgun off her back. "KS-23K? Not bad. Box mag design makes it easier to use those fancy shells you always loved. I just stuck with the KS-23, better range." she states, smiling. "Customized it myself, of course, just for this mission. I would have made it like they did the first ones, but the Russians got word of my plan and won't let me near any airplanes any more..."

"It is necessary for me to interrupt for we have urgent matters to attend to. I must suggest that we move along." Said the shorter woman, in a robotic like voice, though definitely human. She had not moved an inch from her salute, holding it perfectly through the conversation between the others goes on. "We have been ordered to introduce ourselves. I am Rikki Turning Archangel Guardian." she states, putting emphasis on each word in a robotic like form, each word stated as monotone as the last. "Oh, right!" the blond woman says, putting up a casual salute. "I am Erica Harper, Archangel Guardian!" she states happily. Your team quickly greats the two, each in their own way. Rikki is unresponsive, but breaks her endless salute when the greeting is done. Erica happily smiles and says a few words of greeting after each of your introductions.

"Now we must proceed we have wasted much time already." Rikki states in the robotic monotone, "I have been informed we could now receive the information on our mission." "Ah, quite right, quite right." The man in the lab coat states, as he gets in front of the assembled troops. " I am John Smith. That is what you will call me, anyway." he greats you.

"Now lets get strieght to business. I am sorry about all the secrecy, but everyone in this room must take a vow to never tell anyone about this mission. Its secrecy is vital to the moral of troops everywhere and the vitality of the lab. You see, two days ago, the area which will be referred to as "the lab" for this mission, was attacked and taken over in a matter of hours. This lab is not *technically* associated with Archangel, not in the books anyway. Officially it is a US Army lab, however it is mostly used by Archangel scientists doing projects for Archangel. This lab remains secret for several reasons, chief among them harmony between the nations. Several countries feel that America's large roll in Operation Archangel is a kind of attempt of feudalism, ingraining themselves in world politics of nations it barley had anything to do with before. Many nations also would not like a US funded lab being staffed by Archangel members, feeling that the US would only use the information to benefit itself. Thus for the base to stay safe and the harmony of all nations to stay relatively OK, this mission must be kept secret. Secondly, this is the first attack on an Archangel base ever. And we lost in a matter of hours, having to evacuate the scientist as swiftly as possible. If word got out that an Archangel base was attacked and easily overrun, this could lower the moral of our troops. They should be able to feel safe in their own base, if they fear this would happen elsewhere it would only stress them needlessly. Now that we got this out of the way, lets explain the mission. Two days ago, one of the projects at the base, Project ADAM, had gone rouge entirely. Project ADAM was...is an attempt for Archangel to create or find robotic drones suitable for use by Operation Archangel, in order to keep our troops out of dangerous and potentially dangerous situations. However two days ago, a single scientist had betrayed us. Somehow, he had gotten all of our robotic troops to betray us. We managed to get most personnel out safely, but where unable to save any of the prisoners on the base. Somehow, he seems to have gotten them to move by themselves, think by themselves. We have tried disrupting radio waves and other means of stopping the signals, however they all appear to not effect it. Your mission is to recapture the lab, destroying all military robots that get in your way."

"And where do we come in? You would have sent another Guardian in if it was not for him, correct?" Otonashi stated. "Ah, you used to be so much more patient Oto" "John Smith" said, nostalgically. "Yes, you are hear because of him, your little illusive friend. The security cameras and the information we managed to hack out of the reconnaissance robots shows that the scientist is not alone, there is a man with him. He appears to be the man you are looking for, however all of his pictures are blocked out with a lens flair. He is escorted by a few undead..."

"He is here!?" Otonashi states, in something of exited anger. "John Smith" makes the "easy" hand motion. "It is possible that he is here, however we were only able to get information from the initial attack. " he stated, as Otonashi calmed down a little, unballing his fist.

Any questions?

[No problem, I understand the wonder of weekends.

Also, this was how my mind progressed with this in terms of what I thought the mission would be about: Mansion, Leviathan, Lovecraftian abominations, Bioshock, Terminator.]

Alec's greeting was an attempt at a professional salute along with typical name-exchanging greetings. He now understands where Tommy got his gun love from, although he's curious as to the relationship between the two. 'Bubi' is obviously a term of endearment, since it isn't her name, or a nickname of some sorts perhaps... The large man wonders if this was the woman he saw in the pictures under team... Fire bird? Something like that.

The large man listened in on 'John' explaining the situation, understanding for the most part why it should be secret. Ezekiel is here? Maybe? He's not sure how to feel about that really... Except that Oto will probably be more on edge than usual, and watching him all the more he bets. So, fighting robots now. At least they can't screw with his mind like the spiders, he figures. Alec didn't want to but in, but felt some questions were needed. "Number estimations? Size of facility? EMP use possibility?" He completely and utterly admits the last one is based entirely on movies he's watched.

Don't count them out yet, the mission hasn't even started yet.

------------------------

After thinking for a minute, John begins answering your questions. "A few hundred, ranging from gun platforms like the TALON SWORDS, to tanks like the Black Knight. The weakest ones are more typical, though we don't know if he had activated all available forces or not. More...experimental ones are also present, ranging form Big Dogs to some of the scientist's own creation. I am kind of worried about what the Wizard brought to the table..." he then turns toward the boat, "The land area is classified. EMPs wouldn't work against military hardened equipment in a secure fortress like the lab, unless your planning to nuke the place." he stated, continuing toward the boat. "Oh, and I forgot to mention, there is about a dozen predator drones flying around the island. I don't know how he has kept so many up for so long, but they make it so we can not safely enter the island from the air. I hope to go in under the radar using this boat, then shooting them down with the lab's defenses if we are unable to just shut them down."

He then jumps in the boat, tapping the side "Well if that is all, then lets get started!" he said simply. "Rigid Raider MK3" the monotone voice of Riki kicks in, "Max capacity:8" she continued, looking at the boat with a blank expression. "Defenses: None. It is not suggested that we use this ship against missile capable drones." she continued. It felt as if she didn't even blink, staying nearly perfectly still. "Under normal circumstances no, however we have several fire-capable Archangel troops and..." John continued. A rock, a little pebble that appears to have fallen off the concrete, lifts up to his face and is immediately crushed into dust, which blows toward the ocean. "If they even find us."

Any further questions before you make the trip to the island?

Alec nodded along with John's explanation, whew that was a lot more than he was hoping for. He has the feeling there might be more of them than he has bullets, and it would undoubtedly take more than one to take down a robot he guesses. Considering they don't, you know, bleed or anything like that. He didn't like the sound of the island either. Or the drones. Or any of this really, but he's doing a service to others, right? Helping people out, he means if this project works it should save lives.

Alec almost missed the discussion about the boat being unfit, tuning back in half way through what Riki was saying. That girl is weird, and that is saying something compared to the people in his squad. What drew his attention the most however was the rock that floated up into John's face, then got crushed and blown away. Did... Did he just see that? Did John do that? How? Alec knows he'll get a non-answer if he asks about it if it was indeed John who did it, which he as a feeling it was, he figured he should probably say something about it regardless. "How... Did you do that?"

"I have the ability to apply kinetic force to an object within a certain range, as long as I can see it or have knowlage of its near exact location." John states, leaning on the back of the boat as a metal box flies toward him. "In layman's terms, I have psychic powers. I would explain further, but you could have your mind read at any time you are not wearing that agimat, so I should avoid saying to much."

"There are ten units in this area. The Rigid Raider MK3 functions at full capacity with eight or fewer. Your Extra Sensory Perception would not allow for the addition of two units." Riki stated, without changing the tone of her voice. "I only count eight, perhaps you should do a recount?" John responded, as he opened the metal box casually. Riki's eyes scanned over the assorted people in the room, taking a few seconds to look over everyone. "Objection withdrawn." she finally concluded, when she was satisfied.

"Now, everyone in the boat, we should hurry" John stated, pulling out a communicator much like the one you had used at the gun range what feels like an eternity ago. "Everyone take one of these as you get in!" he states, preparing to hand them out. "I call driving!" Erica states, quickly rushing up to the boat, the large shotgun on her back clinking as she jumped into it. She takes the communicator and stands behind a consul like box. The boat is somewhat small, looking like the average speed boat, a single motor at the end. "I'm the BEST driver this world has ever known!" Erica continued, giving the thumbs up signal to the group. The rest of the assorted people entered the boat as well, Tommy and Helena sitting back by Erica, with the rest filing in next to them. You follow suit, receiving one of the noise-resistant communicators as you enter the boat. You sit on a kind of black-bicycle seat, somewhat uncomfortable do to your large size. David gets his communicator and sits next to you, as he asks the question "What is this for?", motioning to the communicator. "Well we are going to be operating heavy weapons in a closed space, the sound resistance of normal communicators wouldn't be enough to keep you from going deaf." John answers, "Plus, it helps keep out the screaming."

Is there anything else you want to do before the boat leaves?

[Sorry for the wait, night shifts mess everything up for me.]

Alec nodded at John's explanation. He's beginning to wonder who doesn't know about the agimat, and figures that probably correlates to no one in the group. He mentally sighed, this is probably going to be something that haunts him for a while. No use dwelling on it though, what's done was done. The large man was confused when Riki confused the count, adding two more. Where did she get that from? Did she count him twice or something? Alec could understand that he supposes, but he figures that a bit much honestly. He could only raise an eyebrow when he saw her re-look everyone over for a recount. How strange, but then again everything about her is odd. Its like she's a robot or something...

Alec accepted his communicator, looking it over and trying to get as comfortable as he could in the small seat. He understands how his unusual size isn't normally accommodated for however, and doesn't protest either mentally or physically. Alec looked the communicator over, listening to the explanation as to why they were given it, makes sense to him.

The large man looks towards the direction of where he believes they're to be going. Some laboratory in the middle of an island of unknown size guarded by drones with missiles and housing several hundred robots along with Ezekiel. Oto always goes for the interesting jobs, it seems. He has nothing else he wants to do before the boat leaves.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You have said that over a lot of posts. My posts make you wait a lot more, and in comparison, the wait you cause is nothing.

--------------------

"Then lets go!" John said, once everyone was prepared. Erica quickly started the boat, and in the next instant you were darting across the water, like a heavy stone being skipped. Some water sprayed onto your face as the offshore platform behind you shrinks swiftly. "Ah, looks like they upgraded the engine!" Erica states dreamily over the communicator. The next few minutes go by without much happening, the muted sound of the engine buzzing in your ear as you look out toward the endless ocean. A few times people begin to talk, saying nothing important.

"IsthataAGS17?" Tommy asks Rikki, pointing to the large grenade launcher. "Yes." Rikki responds. "Isthata...GYROJET?" Tommy asks, pointing to Rikki's side arm. "Yes." Rikki responds once again. "HERESY!" Tommy responds. "Tommy, what did I tell you about declaring people heretics?" Erica stated. "But Eriiicaa! That gun is a blasphemy! Unreliable, inaccurate, and doesn't even have powder!" Tommy bleated back. "It has some advantages over conventional weaponry." Rikki stated, still monotone. "You can throw it well?" Tommy responded. "...That sounds kind of fun." Helena interrupted. "No." Rikki responded. "The Gyrojet is simpler to use in outer space." "When are you ever fighting in space?" "That is classified." "....Have you ever gotten Helena and Tommy to listen to you?" Otonashi spoke up. "Sometimes, you usually have to put a gun to their head to get anything done..." Erica responded. "We will trade notes later." Otonashi finished.

"There." Helena interrupted, sounding just as casual as the rest of the conversation, as she pointed up somewhere you couldn't see. Suddenly, the boat twists around in the water, preforming a full spin as something makes noise and splashes into the water were the boat was seconds ago. The boat continues to turn, facing the same direction you were going in before, before quickly starting up again. Behind you, the missile begins to follow the boat, apparently following a red dot shining at the front of the boat. It seems to have slowed down, and a few seconds later explodes.

Up above, you can make out the outline of the missiles origin. A small object, a predator drone, looked down on you from a fair distance away, swiftly getting larger. As you are about to do something, a splitting scream causes you to bring your hands instinctively to your ears. The scream was high pitched, and sounded like a woman's voice. A single banshee like note, never fading, never failing, and scarcely blocked by your communicator. The inside of your ears begins to hurt slightly as you think of what to do.

What do you do?

[Heh, yeah I guess I do say that a lot.]

Alec listened in on the conversation between Tommy, Helena, Rikki, and Erica. Mission may be a big one compared to their others, but it seems that doesn't much change their perspectives. That's good, the large man figures he should probably try to take his mind off of what's coming up next anyhow. He was just about to fish out a cigaret when Helena interrupted, pointing something out.

Alec tried to figure out what exactly she was pointing at, squinting upwards but he couldn't see anything before the ship got shoved around by something. When the missile hit the water though, he figured out right quick what was going on, seems they were spotted. Shit. The large man was just about to sigh in relief as it exploded harmlessly away until the noise started. Its always something, its always something.

"The hell is that noise?" Alec blocked his ears the best he could to try and cut out the damnable noise, but it wasn't letting up and wasn't getting quieter by much, even with the new and improved communicator. The large man quickly tried to figure out where the hell the noise was coming from, seeing how the others are reacting to it as well.

Unless the source was obvious, Alec would assume it must be coming from the the drone that is rapidly getting closer. Going to do something he has a feeling is stupid, the large man takes out his M1911, and unless someone stops him, will take the best of aim as he can at the predator drone and take a shot at it.

"Didn't I tell you? The robots have been screaming since the attack happened. No clue why." John says, looking up at the sky in preparation. You pull your pistol out of its holster and raise it above your head, trying to aim. The boat continues to move erratically, from side to side, as water sprays into your face. The drone continues its swift movements as well, coming ever closer. On top of all this, your sights are rather tiny, making the shot incredibly difficult. The gun is surprisingly light compared to your heavy machine gun, allowing you to easily hold it above your head with one hand, at least.

You take aim the best you can, taking your first shot. The gun almost jumps out of your hand the first shot, for a little gun it seems to have a lot of recoil. Taking this into account, you adjust your grip and send two more bullets into the air with a "Powww", neither finding themselves anywhere close to the drone. The screaming continues as the drone gets even closer, flying directly over you as your companions struggle to reach their weaponry. The drone releases another missile while it was directly over head, that is now flying toward the boat.

No, no he didn't dammit. Wait, was that what he meant with the screaming? Alec hates it when people are vague with him, but dammit now isn't the time to think. "Not good." The large man only said when he saw the missile. There was nothing he could do against that besides pray that he gets lucky and maybe hit it. The large man hated having to go by his luck, but there wasn't much else he could think of, so he continued firing at the drone and missile and hoping for the best, because he wasn't so sure there would be anymore chances.

[Oh this doesn't look good, not at all.]

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You desperately empty your clip into the sky in an attempt to hit the missile or drone, four shots fired as quickly as you could, the click of your gun telling you you were empty. Somehow, the missile exploded loudly above you, the shrapnel falling toward the boat but moving off to the side, as if an invisible umbrella had been placed around the boat. Apparently, your desperate attempt had worked perfectly.

The bout speeds away again, twisting and turning like a snake, as the drone begins to turn around. Behind you, Tommy has gotten out one of the rocket launchers, a long tube with a box thing near the front and a strange scope joining itself to Tommy's eyepiece. "Can't fire the Stinger without more room..." Tommy states disappointingly, as he attempts to point the large launcher in the direction of the sky, hitting the back of the boat.

Alec has absolutely no idea how that missile exploded, either from himself or possibly John, but he'll accept it. With the boat speeding away and the drone falling behind if only shortly for it to try and catch up. They have the initiative for now, but the large man didn't know how long that would last, and any thoughts of this being a stealth mission where blown out the water. Seeing Tommy try to aim the launcher at the drone and failing due to not enough room to point up, Alec figured he should pitch in to help, although the idea of lifting someone on his shoulders in a fast, erratically moving boat isn't one he sees as a good idea, its better than the drone firing more missiles at them because there is no way they can keep this up.

"Need a lift?" The large man offered Tommy, and if the offer is accepted he will help his teammate up on his shoulders while kneeling in the boat to promote better stability, holding onto Tommy tight so he doesn't fall off said boat.

[There is no way this plan can go wrong, none at all, hahaha.]

Tommy quickly accepts, climbing up you while still trying to aim with his large gun. With some difficulty, you manage to get him on your shoulders. He is surprisingly heavy, probably having something to do with having a large missile launcher and full equipment on. He quickly aims as the drone starts heading toward you, the scream starting to change to a more desperate, wavering sound as the drone began to shudder. Suddenly, the drone begins to spit missiles out, one at a time five missiles begin their journey toward your boat.

"God daaaaang it!" Erica self censors as she quickly begins evasive maneuvers once again, the boat dancing across the water in an attempt to get away from the incoming missiles.

This day just keeps getting better, doesn't it? Alec bitterly thought as he held onto Tommy and wished he'd aim faster because they now had five missiles after them. Five. He tried his hardest to not watch the missiles now streaking towards them, still trying to hold his ground on the fast moving ship in his kneeling position. Unless Tommy wanted down, in which case he'd oblige and hope that Erica is as good as she professed.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

[Alec has the worst luck, or his enemies the best, and this amuses me to no end.]

A little of both.

-------------------------

You stabilize your position the best you could as the missiles come whistling after you. Suddenly, above you Tommy fires the rocket launcher, its projectile exiting with a *PTD FWWWEWWW* as it archs over the incoming missiles, a cloud of smoke following it. High above, the screaming drone begins to spin around, taking evasive maneuvers against the incoming rocket, but the missile turns upward into it. There is a small flash of redish light, and the screaming stops as scraps of the drone fall into the ocean.

Of course that does nothing for the more pressing matter of the missiles. Two missiles slam together a little bit after firing, exploding far enough away to not do anything. Three continue to rush toward the boat, inching closer every minute. Otonashi and David had finally gotten their weaponry ready, teaming up in an attempt to take out the missile. Otonashi had taken one of David's grenades, cooked it for a bit, and gently let it go behind the boat. Amazingly, it somehow exploded close enough to a rocket to set it off, bringing the total down to two. They both come even closer, you can now clearly see every detail of the objects bent on your destruction. Erica quickly does a U turn in the boat as the missiles almost make contact, gunning it in the opposite direction at top speed. Somehow the rockets stop following you, plopping into the ocean. Maybe since you took down the drone, the laser couldn't be used to track you? However you have little time to celebrate, as the missiles explode under the water, close enough for the shock wave to violently rock the boat back and forth, as if you had been in a car crash. It was so violent in fact, that you had almost fallen out, and Tommy had been thrown from your back, going flying off the top speed boat....

After a brief moment of panic, you look around to find Tommy hanging out of the boat. Rikki had grabbed him by the collar of his armor, suspending him above the ocean with one hand, face as void of emotion as ever. She pulls Tommy in as if she was a crane, plopping him in the middle of the boat unceremoniously. "Thanks Rikki!" Tommy stated, once inside. "Iwouldadrowned! I forgive you for using a Gyroscope...." "No problem." Rikki responded simply.

After everyone had looked over themselves for wounds, John spoke up. "Well that was easy!" he stated, wiping droplets of water off of his lab coat. "We are almost there, and we only had to fight one drone! Now, you guys all remember the plan, right?" "You haven't told us the plan yet." David stated, mildly annoyed. "Ah, haven't I? Ah, well lets go over it then. We will all enter the main gate, kill anything that is there, the split up into groups to sweep the place clean. Tommy, Helena, and Erica will take the left sectors. Rikki, David, and Alec will take the right sectors. Oto and I will go down the middle. We will clean the place out entirely, Oto and I will get security back online so we can check. If you see any prisoners, evacuate them if you feel it is safe for both you and them to do so. We don't have enough room on our boat, so if we find any survivors we will have to find something to do with them. Any questions?
