It was an average day, at the beginning. No one knows why, no one knows how, but that changed fast. Not immediately, but fast. At first it was just a strange thing here and there, a werewolf in Canada here, a golum in Jerusalem, just random strange things happening. But it just kept getting worse and worse. Zombies started appearing in New York, Vampires in Moscow, a dragon attack in Japan. Something was changing in the world, it was as all of the myths humans had ever believed in, all of fears humanity has ever had, had decided to start materializing themselves. At first there was panic, people ran to their bunkers and nearly resorted to shooting each other on the streets.

But humanity is a lot stronger then we give ourselves credit for. The governments of the world, spurred into action by the strange happenings, had pulled together in order to create a powerful organization in a mission dubbed "Operation Archangel". The brave men and women of Archangel stand up to the strange happenings, gun and hand, and let these things, dubbed "freaks" in slang. They come from all walks of life, most effected negatively by the freaks in some way. You are one of these archangels. Civilization has gone on almost normally for most citizens thanks to this work, though hundreds of thousands have died so far. The darkness gains power every day, but the Archangels remain a bright candle in the night....

PART II
A Cruel Angel's Thesis
An Angel is Just a Demon Waiting To Fall
Or An Demon is Just a Fallen Angel.

The candle of humanity continues to shine, growing more brightly with each passing hour. The candle throws a flickering light, sending images dancing around the room. But with light comes shadow, specters dancing across the the walls. What threats are true, what shadows are harmless, what specters still hide in the darkness beyond, all mysteries that may soon be uncovered. Will that little candle of humanity glow into a bright inferno, casting out all shadow once and for all? Or is it merely flickering before going out?

Even in the short time since you have joined Archangel, the strange occurrences are only becoming more frequent, more powerful, and stranger. Though through the combined efforts of Archangel and the military and police forces of the world, there was not yet a major catastrophe, but hundreds still die every day to the effects of the Freaks. Perhaps the most interesting occurrence, and the one to be thought about the most, was the discovery of a "bubble outside reality". While the Freaks before had been combated on the Earth, there has been a discovery of a lone house. This house, while harmless and empty, was discovered to not be on Earth. Communications and troops could be sent in and out, however the GPS and compasses where thrown off upon entering. It is theorized that these may grow, offering a vast new battle field for the fine soldiers of Archangel to combat...

Character Sheet:

Name:
Age:
Equipment:
HP:
Stats: Distribute 30, maximum 15. 10 is average, 15 is professional, 5 is below average
Int: Intelligence, helps with knowlage scores and social rolls
Str: Strength, helps with physical roles and HP
Agi: Helps with swiftness scores and dodging
Skills: Ill put these in, based on the other things.
Advantages: A skill or psychological advantage that may come in useful. You can have up to three, but must scale with disadvantages, and the more you have the less effect they can have individually. You can choose most mundane things, from combat training to advanced memory, from electronic skills to medical training.
Disadvantages: The negative version of advantages. They have to be equivalent to the advantages, except in a negative way. It fallows the same rules as advantages. This can also be anything from PSTD to utter pacifism, from being a psychopath to being afraid of blood.
Perks: A kind of mini-advantage, it follows many the same rules as advantages, but has less effect. These are typically less-useful skills that help make your character more interesting, and can be anything from being good with dogs to being particularly pitiable, from the ability to tap dance to the ability to sing opera.
Quirks: The flip side of perks. They are minor disadvantages that serve to make your character interesting. This can be anything from an obsession with cats to being bad with people, from a habit of talking to yourself to being mildly afraid of heights.
Bio: Your life up to this point. Can include anything you find important, though it usually needs to include your job, since that helps decide
your skill set. It can also include things like why you are fighting for the organization, anything important in your life up to this point.

May or may not be added to later. Anyone want to start?

Name:Jack Darlon
Age:32
Equipment:Barret M82 Anti-Materiel Rifle, 5 clips of .50BMG ammo, browning m1911 pistol(with 3 clips of .45 ACP), combat knife
HP:...????(not sure what'd be acceptable)
Int:8
Str:12
Agi:10
Skills:
Advantages: Special Forces Sniper. If Jack can see it, he can kill it. And thanks to his Force Recon sniper training, he can see and hit it from a long way off
Disadvantages:Emotional Distance. Jack's time in the special forces has had him sent to a variety of hellholes on the planet, and his experiences can make him sound distant and unemotional to those he doesn't know or trust, and trust is a very hard thing to come by with him.
Perks:He can drive a wide range of vehicles to get around, from your average motorcycle to a Bradly
Quirks:Lucky silver dollar. He has a dented silver dollar that saved his life once by deflecting a bullet. He never goes anywhere without it, and can actually attempt to refuse to do a mission if he doesn't have it on him
Bio: Jack joined the military right out of high school, it being a long tradition in his family. He tested well in basic and eventually managed to get himself sent to a special training course for snipers(he had been hunting out in the woods since he was a boy, so long-distance shots came second nature to him). After graduating top of his class, he was officially a special forces sniper, and was assigned to a classified opforce that got him sent to all around the world to deal with threats to the US security...often times before they became real threats. He was in places like Kosovo, Mali, went in behind enemy lines in the Second Gulf War, and helped on the ground in Libya. He racked up medal after medal(in secret, of course) for his bravery, heroism, and unmatched skill in eliminating targets without them even knowing he was there, oftentimes dispatching high-ranking opposing military officers and command structure elements to disrupt the enemy forces.

When the troubles began, Jack was basically the highest trained and decorated sniper the US army had, so seconding him to the project was an easy decision, giving it a solid option to deal with threats from a distance. Having been in a variety of horrible places doing the government's dirty work, he's more than eager to be on a side that has no moral ambiguity for once...

Name: Johnathan Legrin
Age: 31
Equipment:
HP: ?
Stats:
Int: 12
Str: 7
Agi: 11
Skills:
Advantages: A tinker, Johnathan knows how to make stuff, and fix stuff, and was a fencer in his spare time, getting rather good at it.
Disadvantages: He's not used to guns, and doesn't like them, in addition to often having been thoroughly traumatized in New York.
Perks: He likes hiking and being in the outdoors, and so is used to being outside.
Quirks: He has a minor case of OCD. (What exactly said obsession/compusion is will be decided when it comes around to it.)
Bio: Working as an engineer at a New York-based company, he was among the first hit by the horde. He survived by using his wits to escape the quarantine zone, but was heavily traumatized- his family survived by virtue of being on the outskirts of the city. Before the change in his life, he had been born and raised in the south, though he moved to New York for his job, where he would later meet his wife. He also picked up fencing while in college, and continued the hobby until now, at which point he's found a practical use for it.

After the attacks in New York and his escape from the quarantine zone, he was finally reunited with his family. However, he was severly traumatized by what he had seen, and wanted to do something to ease the burden. So, upon hearing about Operation Archangel, he jumped at the chance. His family was reluctant to let him go, but realized the weight that was still on his mind, and so tearfully let him go forth to fight the menace.

You feel your lucky coin as you look out the window. There was nothing but water for a while, though you started to see ice a while ago. Redeployment. They can't waste resources to send each group here themselves, so they had stuck you in a supply helicopter headed in the direction anyway. It was a long and quit ride, one that gave you time to think. You start to notice a large building in the distance, either a fort or a town of some kind. As you look at the building, the pilot begins to talk to you for the first time since you got on the helicopter. "There is your destination. The Cloud, a fort in the only safe place left on the earth. The middle of Antarctica. Wear your good socks" he said dryly, as he reached for the radio. "I brought you some fresh meat. And some beef" he said, without changing his tone of voice "open hanger 5"

As he hang up the window, you looked out the window again. It was snowing heavily, and had several hills of snow below you as you hover. One of the hills began to open. It reminded you of a toaster, with two red hot wires on either side of an opening mouth. The pilot quickly brought the helicopter inside the strange building, as it shut mechanically behind him. The hanger itself was huge, big enough to fit several of the helicopters. The copter skillfully lands, and the pilot shows you the door. You turn back to see some forklifts bringing the boxes out of the helicopter, when a man begins to talk to you.

"You the knew guy?" he says, stretching out his right hand for you to shake. His left hand was holding a Benelli shotgun casually over his shoulder, and there was a lit cigaret spilling smoke from his mouth. He was wearing the Archangel uniform, a dark blue camouflage with a shield stating his rank on the left arm.

How do you great him?

A grunt and, after checking appropriate rank markings, a stiff salute if applicable. Jack will then make noncommital remarks to his questions if they are not important, while following him to where he needs to go.

This seems like a neat idea. I almost decided not to play, until I glanced a window over...

Name: Agent S████
Age: ██
Equipment: Varies by mission
HP: Uncertain
Stats:
Int 13
Str 7
Agi 12
Skills: To Be Decided
Advantages: Jaded (used to strange happenings), Trained (in various special operations techniques and such, especially for dealing with anomalies)
Disadvantages: Detached (doesn't deal well with people), Mild Insanity (manifests in OCD and a couple other mild, passing psychoses that come and go), Injured Leg (from attempting to capture an anomaly)
Perks: Security Clearance, Subtle
Quirks: Dislikes Killing
Bio: Agent S████ is an employee of the ███ Foundation, and a former agent of the ███* before he "retired." S████ works in Initial Anomaly Recovery, which basically involves going to a place where anomalous events have occurred, documenting them, trying to instate initial containment, if possible transporting the anomaly's source to an appropriate warehouse, and hopefully not dying. He's had a lot of work recently--more anomalies have been reported and leaked over the past year than the previous ██ S████ has been working at the Foundation combined. S████, the most senior living operative in the IAR department, has been selected to investigate why these anomalies have been occurring at such an unusually high rate recently.

*Just keeping it undefined if he's a former secret agent from the CIA, FBI, OSS, PBS, or whatever.

------------------------------------------------------

You walk nervously thru a section of New York, looking at all the construction around you. The first zombie outbreak was brutal, with hundreds of thousands deign. Fortunately, if you could call it that, the zombies where weaker then at first expected. Fortunately, it seems some of the earlier freaks where some of the weakest. The panic killed half the people, with over reactions everywhere. Fortunately, the people have learned from the mistake. While the first outbreak costs hundreds of thousands of lives, the second cost thousands. The third costs hundreds. They keep coming, but at least most of New York is now usable, for the moment at least.

You walk up to what you came here for. A large, perfectly intact building with a shield over the door, the Archangel center for the sector. You enter thru the sliding doors, to see many New Yorkers affected much the same way you where. After standing in a line for a good hour, you make it to a desk with a large man in a ball cap with the shield logo on it. "Name" he states blandly. "Johnathan Legrin" you reply. The man uninterestedly wrights something down, without even looking up. "Profession" he asks in the same tone of voice. "Engineer" you reply. The man took a gulp of coffee while typing something into a dirty laptop. "Armor division. You head out as soon as you get to the plane. Follow the signs" he said disinterestedly while pointing with his thumb.

You follow the hastily put up signs, which thankfully where after almost every corner, and ended up in what appeared to be a civilian airport. A woman in a flight uniform waves you down. "Johnathan Legrin?" she asks, and you nod. "Right this way" she said, and you follow her into an aircraft terminal. On the other side there is a normal airplane, like you would expect. You must have had something on your face, as the stewardess took notice. "The good troop transports have to be used by project Archangel to get it's troops to emergency zones quickly. We use whatever we can to get troops to the Cloud." she motions you to sit down. Soon the intercom comes on and simply says "We are now full, please put your seat belt on and turn off any and all electronic devices. We are now lifting off."

The flight was about the same as any other civilian flight. They even put some B movie on, and served food from the cart. You nodded off a few times, no one was talking to you and most people seemed rather somber and nervous. You half expected a baby to be crying somewhere with how typical the flight was. You don't know how long it was going, but it must have been a day or two, you just dossed off so often you lost track.

The captain came back on the intercom. "Please buckle up your seat belts, we are now preparing to land. It will be a rough landing..."

And he was right, the snow made the landing rather uncomfortable. After the ruff landing, the captain said something about you being able to get off the plane. You could barely hear the start of it, with everyone rushing off the plane as fast as humanly possible. You walk out the plane in a big crowd, looking around. It was basically a big garage, a whorehouse maybe. You can't even tell how the plane managed to land in here, it is plenty big but it is completely covered. You guess the door nearest must be like a garage door somehow.

You stumble around confused for a second, when you notice a large bearded man waving his hands, with a sign reading "Johnathan Legrin" that appears to be written in marker, rather sloppily at that. You walk toward the man and state your name. He then gets a smile on his face, yells "WELCOME TO TALOS, FRIEND!" while half-hugging half-shaking your hand. You notice he has a rocket launcher on his back, you think it is a new version of the RPG-7.

How do you greet him?

"Nice to meet you. I assume you're my driver, so shall we get going?"

((Also, before we progress too far in, could you change the fencing epee to a calvalry saber? The epee used in fencong really isn't much of a lethal weapon, but a calvalry saber might fit fairly well.))

You grunt, and look at his solder. You look at his patch. Lieutenant. You swiftly salute him, and he raises his hand to his head with a confused look on his face. He then laughs a bit "Rank doesn't mean much here kid. This organization is half civilian half military. Things are done differently here, a colonel runs a group of six. No need to be so formal, with the melting pot we got here the only real rule is 'shoot the things we tell you to'". He then gestures for you to follow him, as he opens a thick sealed steel door. It makes a kind of sucking sound when it is opened, and seals again behind you. You then enter a kind of hallway, kind of like a hospital. Doors are on either side, some heavier then others some almost ornate. You follow the man down the hallway, as he passes many people. He suddenly turns to you, as if he forgot something.

"Oh, I am lieutenant Conners. Thought I should give you my name. We will be working together for a while now, if we make it that long." he said casually, turning back around when finished. Soon after he opens a simple wooden door marked "Eagle". He opens it casually and you follow.

It is a simple room with several doors attached to it. Four people where scattered randomly around, doing leisure things. "Say hello to Darlon!" Conners announced, causing the people to look toward you. How do you greet them?

I made the change, no problem. I must have gotten your bags messed up or something.
----------------------------

The man laughs "HAHAH! DRIVER HE SAYS!" while slapping his knee. "You can't drive ANYWHERE inside this building. You will get PLENTY of time to be driven around when we get called, friend!" He then puts his large hand on your back and half drags you past a sealed door to what looks a lot like a New York hospital. Except less crowded. "I am VLADMIER VON STRONGARM friend! But my friends call me VLAD! Come come, let us find the rest of our friends of TALOS!"

After being half dragged threw for about ten minutes, with your new friend Vlad yelling and waving at passerbys in greeting, you are dragged to a sterile looking steel door, with a single word welded onto the door "Talos Armored division". Vlad half explodes thru the door, yelling "Say hello to Johnathan EVRYONE!"

You entire a room that reminds you of a garage, with some tools on the wall and a group of people standing around. They appear be having a small welcome party, with a table containing some snacks, some punch, and several bottles of whiskey. There is a banner, with the world "Welcome to Talos John!" in ornate cursive writing.

How do you introduce yourself?

Disadvantages: Territorial about her work, needs glasses/contacts(farsighted), and a functional alcoholic.
Perks: Excellent bedside manner.
Quirks: Racist. Yep. Against EVERYONE. Not to the point where she dislikes them, just the point where she believes just about every stereotype there is. Curiously enough, not religious, or homophobic, or sexist. I can change this if it might cause problems.
Bio: Patricia grew up in southern Texaz, raised by two rich white parents who fit every stereotype of rich white people there was, or almost. They did love their daughter, but they were also assholes to most people below their station. When she became a surgeon in college, they were delighted to see their little girl take up such a proud profession. When the chupacabras started striking, she managed to save her brother's life, barely, but had to run, and he was left behind. She rode a horse for hours, eventually letting the poor thing rest, where she was taken in by some kind colored people. Long story short, she ended up joining the Archangel foundation, to help keep the fighting men alive. That said, being a Texan, she's not bad with a pistol either...

"Well, this isn't quite what I was expecting," he thinks to himself before introducing himself. "Hi guys, it's nice to meet you. I'm Johnathan, but feel free to call me John. I have to admit, I'm not ised to this whole deal yet. So, who are you guys?"

Get to know them and what we're going to be doing.

In any case it would be a battle of critical thinking and I refuse to fight an unarmed individual.

Name:Jack Darlon
Age:32
Equipment:Barret M82 Anti-Materiel Rifle, 5 clips of .50BMG ammo, browning m1911 pistol(with 3 clips of .45 ACP), combat knife
HP:12
Int:8
Str:12
Agi:10
Skills:Rifle(3), Small Arms (3)

You give a small hello and are met with unenthusiastic greetings as they look up from their current activities. "Way to make the new guy feel welcome..." Conners says casually as he leans against the far wall. "They where a lot warmer to the last one. Even warmer to the one before that. Stress must be starting to take a toll on them." Conners mumbles as he gets into a comfortable position. "Might as well introduce you to everyone."

You look around the room and notice how informal everything is. Definitely not a typical military base, you think to yourself. Conners points to a young woman with long brown hair and a bandana on her head, lying down on an old mattress near the right wall and reading some strange comic book. "That is Katy. One of the newer operatives.". He then points across the room to a man studding vigorously at a desk, with short hair and shiny glasses. "That is Eggy. A random nerd who was too into fantasy. Came in useful when all this started". At his mention, "Eggy" stopped working for a second and yelled "I told you to stop calling me that! MY NAME IS CHRISTO-" he began. Conners had already pointed to the doorway in the back of the room and started talking. "Back in the hanger is Brooky. He is our gunner. Normally he would be out here doing whatever it is he does, but we got ruffed up pretty bad in the last mission..." "That is an understatement...." Katy said blandly. "We lost the colonel, got our jetcopter half blown up, and almost let the freak who did that get away..." Conners waves his hand dismissively as he grabs a pack and throws it at you. You catch it quickly. "Your new uniform. Bathroom is first door to the left, don't lose anything important there. Plumbing system is harsh here..." You change your uniform and come back out.

"We are probably going to go on another mission now. Is there anything you need? Any Questions?"

You look out the window of the small helicopter that brought you in. You had to leave your horse behind, it was a logistics nightmare and not to useful against the horrors that have been popping up, the Archangel facility said. You managed to find someone to hold onto it, though. They sent you in on a private helicopter, they don't get many medics in the Archangel program so they spent the extra resources to get you down here as fast as possible. The pilot was quite and professional most of the ride, only talking if you had started talking to him first. You then started to see a large building, one that reminded you of a hospital, except single floored. And with snow on it. A lot of snow. The helicopter pilot picked up his radio and started talking. "Ive got our special guest here and need landing over". A voice replied over the radio in a somewhat garbled up manner, as the helicopter came closer and close to the large building. Part of it was opening up, like some kind of giant toaster with red hot irons on each side of the open door. The pilot landed inside, and the doors slammed behind him. You then are told to exit the helicopter. You notice the room around you is large, must be made in Texas you thought.

A single man waves toward you as he approaches. He has dark black hair and eyes, with tanned skin. Must be hard to get here, you think. "Hello, I am Kyle Goldman, I assume you are Patricia Garfien? Welcome to the Cloud. You are now a proud member of Valkery squad!" he says as he offers a handshake to you.

How do you greet him?

Name: Johnathan Legrin
Age: 31
Equipment:Beretta 92 (2 clips), Calvary Saber, toolbox
HP: 7
Stats:
Int: 12
Str: 7
Agi: 11
Skills:Engineer(3), small arms(2), close combat (3)

A young woman with blond hair, almost white, gives you a casual salute as she greets you. "Hello John! Welcome to Talos squad. I am Angela, colonel and acting leader of the squad. We act as a tank crew often, so I guess you could call me the commander to! We have prepared a little welcome party. Most squads have to be prepared to deploy at any time, but we have to wait for the tank to get hauled there and back, so feel free to enjoy yourself!"

Vlad had grabbed the whiskey and started drinking. The man next to Angela also started to greet you. He is a little taller then you, and a good deal older. He has one of his hands behind his back, and for some reason you imagine him wearing a suit. Of course he is wearing the same uniform as everyone. "Hello, I am Walter. I made a spread of snacks for the event. I also drive the tank when we are on a mission. Would you like some tea?"

Across the table, a man in a baseball-like hat with a rifle on his back talks thru a mouth full of sandwich meat in a spread. "Hi *munch* I*munch* am*munch* *gulp* Timmy! First gunner when in the tank, designated marksman when not. Nice to meatcha!"

Angela then began talking again. "Normally, a squad would have six people in it. Well our tank is a highly modified M1-abrams, it is a statement of our skill that we managed to fit five people in there. But we have come to think of the of the tank as our six crew member, so it isn't as different as you might think. Please enjoy yourself. The tank will be tomorrow,  if you want to see it, seeing as you are our new mechanic. If you have any requests or questions, feel free to ask!"

Any requests or questions?
