Do a graceful fcking pirouette in the air, eye dark al sensually as you do so. this will test his rolls.

It will damage his hand, but activate our bulwarks. Maybe.

Because when you're ten years old and have the strategic capability of a dishrag the 'best swordfight in the game' is really annoying.

I was like, 9 when I thought 7th Saga was a enjoyable, quality game.  You can't tell me Dark Link is harder than 7th Saga.

Punch him. If that doesn't work, chest bump him with a bulwark.

I'm pretty sure Bulwarks aren't working on Dark Al:

IT'S NOT

WORKING

Maybe the trick is to do something like 'shine a flashlight in Dark Al's face'.

Y'know, we could really use that scanning lens right now. Maybe Dark Al doesn't have the same number of HP as we do, or something.

I'd like to note that we have a bulwark, he does not, which probably means he only copies us as long as we're in the room. Long as we keep under the damage needed to harm ourselves, we can just kill him by hitting him over and over again with a low damage attack.

He might reset when we leave, though. And otherwise the Bulwark doesn't provide any DR that isn't lost whenever it's used, does it?

Bulwark doesn't lose any DR if it blocks all of the damage, it loses a point of DR for every damaging hit. Keep under the Bulwark DR and we're fine.

As a note, we can't leave until we're past him so leaving is moot.

Ooh, really?

Then yeah, let's just punch him down. Or... bulwark slam him down, if extending our fist past the bulwark voids it protections.

He needs to hit us for our bulwark to harm him, as I believe its based upon if we're attacked in melee/close range instead of just proximity. Thus we need to hit him, a punch would work.

Hmmm... I thought Bulwarks weren''t working on Dark Al because we walked into him and it did nothing, whereas when we effectively just sort of walked into the ghasts it killed them.

However, I guess the ghast thing was specifically called as an attack - a "walk into opponent in a particularly aggressive fashion"-type attack.

I guess it could work, but I have a feeling that

this isn't going to be as simple as you think it will.

Hmm... That picture where we are bumping into each other shows us very slightly off-center.
The starting picture, as pointed out earlier, has Dark Al slightly further from the door.
And when we put our head to the wall after the make-out fiasco, Dark Al was slamming his head against air.

Do that thing suggested earlier where we shimmy out onto a ledge around the edge.

Here and here is what led to my belief.

As you may note, the bulwark never activated until we were struck. Of interesting note, it one point of damage per hit, not attack, so enemies that use a weak but plentiful attacks will be punished more severely as they take a hit every attack that lands.
