Is there a way to split stacks of items? That would be rather helpful.
To split a stack of items you enter a number before the item letter. Say if you have 100 rounds of ammo and the ammo is letter B typing 60B while dropping would drop 60 bullets while keeping 40.
So i tried catclysm today and i belive i'm pretty bad at this game:
If i stay in the towns i get swarmed, if i stay out i get swarmed when starving and without supplies. Is there something i'm missing here ? Any tips how to start ? Also i love how sleeping in toxic waste dump gives you superpowers ;P (Well sort of)
Most folks suggest going into town only til about 9:30 (when zombies start spawning) getting everything you can and hitailing it out of there. I prefer to stay in town a little longer and kite the zeds until I get what I need. One of the first things you want is clothing with lots of pockets. Backpacks and rucksacks are ideal. Utility vests and belt rigs second. Anything with pockets 3rd.
Once you got that look for important stuff, staying in one place for a long time in town is a very bad idea, so we're mostly looking for stuff that will help us survive in the wilderness.
*Mil. Surplus stores tend to have lots of food and water, as well as backpacks, rucksacks, belt rigs, and combat knives. If yer lucky you can even find some first aid and water purifiers. MREs are great, very nutritious, and they don't spoil.
* Sporting goods stores have camping gear. Tents are good if you don't think you'll find any real shelter easily. But the big things yer looking for are backpacks if you don't already have one, frying pans, hotplates(if yer afraid of playing with fire), and lighters. If you can find a bow of some kind with ammo (bolts for a crossbow, arrows for a long or composite bow) they make a great hunting weapon. Though you probably won't down much bigger than rabbits until you get skill.
* Grocery stores have food. It's possible to manage off hunting if you have some kind of knife but for the first few days grocery store food hasn't rotted yet, and they can supply you with a few days worth of food. Anything in a tin can won't spoil, just about everything else but water and soda will.
* Parking Lots and garages can have a vehicle. They can kinda be a mixed blessing. Seems just about anything bigger than a 2L engine without a muffler will call every zombie to you, but at the same time, the fastest zombie only runs at 15 mph. The right vehicle can make your life 10x easier, and the wrong vehicle can make you unable to loot anything nearby safely. If you plan on using a vehicle long term, you'll also want a welder, a wrench, and a hack saw. Mechanical books like under the hood, and mechanical mastery will be good too.
