Lodestone's Journal - 7th Timber

Miss Patience stopped by to ask how Breccia and I have been doing lately, and I can't say either of us had any complaints.  I haven't exactly been getting a lot of use out of my experience tanning, but I've been keeping busy regardless so no complaints there.  She's a nice mare.  She still has a lot to learn, but I think she's got the start of being a good leader inside her deep down.

Breccia and I have also been trying to spend a bit more time getting to know everypony else.  In particular we had a pleasant chat with that slippy miner named Fimbulwinter.  A nice respectable profession, although I must say I haven't seen many slippy ponies get much done mining.  He seems pretty level headed though, so I'm sure we'll get along just fine.

Mal seemed evasive when I tried speaking with her though.  I didn't really push her for details.  If I've learned anything over the years, it's that when a pony wants to be left alone, it's best to leave them alone.

14th Timber

Today is a day to celebrate.  Our bed room was finally finished today, so Breccia and I can move in properly now.  She hasn't said much about it, but I can tell with the way Breccia's been carrying herself that her hip is still giving her fits.  Sleeping on the ground, even on a few blankets, hasn't been helping that.  I can't say it's done much for my back either, but at least I don't have to go out and gallop around like a youngster like she does when she's driving off those blasted parasprites.

Maybe after we get settled in I'll go see what we've got stocked up in the cellar.  I don't think Miss Patience would miss a couple of drinks for us to relax with.

8th Moonstone

Winter is setting in now, and we actually saw some snow this afternoon.  I haven't seen snow in probably fifty years, and I wasn't in a real hurry to change that.  I think I saw a few of the other ponies out trotting around in it and playing like foals, and Miss Patience looked to be enjoying herself too.  Well, if they're having fun I don't see any harm in it as long as all of the work gets done.  I won't be joining them though.  This cold weather makes my joints ache, and being up to my fetlocks in snow doesn't sound like a good time to me.

Maybe I'll head back to the dining hall in the morning and see if I can scrounge up something warm to eat and drink, and perhaps a bit of company.  I hope Breccia won't be out and about too much over the next few months.  I don't mind ferrying a bit to eat and drink to her outside, but out in the snow that job is decidedly less pleasant.

Breccia's Journal - 21st Moonstone

I've been worrying poor Lodestone to death over the past two weeks, leaving early every morning and getting back late.  I've been out searching like Kat hoping we'd find something of what happened to Patience, and I'd come back to find him awake every night occupying himself in some fashion or another waiting up on me.  Today at least, I returned home with wonderful news for him: Kat found Patience, and she's alive!

After a few days passed and we found no trace of her, I gave her little chance of survival.  She's young and being what she is had powerful magic at her command, but it got bitterly cold every night this week and going that long without food would tax even the healthiest young mare.  I didn't bother the mare much once she was back, since she was clearly starving and exhausted, but I feel much better knowing she's back safe and sound.

I wasn't sure what we were going to do without her.  I'm not sure if we even have a plan if the worst were to happen.

Well, no need to worry ourselves with that just now.  I'm heading to bed, as I feel about as exhausted as Patience looked.  I'm not a filly anymore, and wandering so far out is more than I really should have been doing.  I may ask for tomorrow off if possible.  I could use the rest.  Maybe we all could.

I'd best make sure I shake all of the snow out of my coat before getting into bed.  I thought Lodestone was going to kick me out last night when some caught in my mane started melting.

Kat's Diary. First page, the blood have long dried.

7th Timber 309
Those Parasprites aren't letting up, They just kept coming more and more each day every day. They make great practices, sure, but it gets boring quick. I've spent more of my time crafting the bolts to shoot them to get some break from those damned things, But so far I've heard none of our food have been stolen by them, so I guess I'm doing a fine work. Just hope There'd be something bigger for me to shoot..

8th Timber 309
Note To Self: Parasprite blood taste like bug. Never again.

9th Timber 309
Lady Patience was with me today. Watching me hunt Parasprites, I bet it's a good break from all the work she's doing. Poor mare's doing so much work she hardly get to relax at all, And from how things look, It seems like I'm her only friend or something. I mean, sure, she's our Leader and probably everypony Respect her, but I've never really see her hang out with other ponies besides me. I hope she'll make some friends soon.

Put up a good show for Lady Patience today, Think I've shot my crossbow faster than I've ever tried before. Showing off does have It's perk I guess, Lady Patience seems to like seeing me hunt those pests. Maybe I'll make her a trophy or something.. Maybe.

12th Timber 309
Finally the dining hall is dug out! I'm getting sick of not having a proper table and chair to eat on. And eating on the dirt or grass isn't very my kind of thing, I still hope they'd get some cloud berries in.. And Mead! I miss drinking Mead..

14th Timber 309
Looks like we've made a bedroom finally, I bet the elder ponies will enjoy somewhere comfy to sleep. It'll be nice if I have a room for myself too, Not that I mind too much sleeping on the dirt but, it'll be nice.

5th Moonstone 309
Well, The River's frozen and those Damned Parasprites still kept coming. What's wrong with them!? I really hope they'd learn their lesson soon..

8th Moonstone 309
It started to snow, I like snow. Although It make me wish my wings were feathers sometimes to help keep me warm, but I'll just have to wear extra cloth is all. Still no sign of those Traders, I hope the map we sent them got to them and that they'd actually come, I'm confident we'll make it through though, We've got enough food.. I hope.. I'll go check if those Parasprites have stopped coming since it's snowing.

Nope, still coming. I saw Lady Patience taking a walk though, I'll let her Enjoy her walk.

9th Moonstone 309
Lady Patience haven't returned from her walk, I hope she's alright. I'll go look around the outpost today to see if she've returned yet or not.

It seems like she haven't.. I'll have to start looking for her when the sun rises.

10th Moonstone 309
Still no sign of Lady Patience, the snow are building up and there's no track of her left if it were there. I'll have to keep on looking.

12th Moonstone 309
It's been days, And I still haven't seen Lady Patience at all! This is a disaster! I can't lose her just because of some silly snow! I'll never forgive myself if I find her dead and Frozen or mauled by some sort of a wild animal!.. well, cross my hooves and hope for the best then. I'll keep trying.

15th Moonstone 309
I fear for the worst. But I won't stop my search, Ponies kept telling me to have some break and eat something but I'm not eating knowing that Lady Patience is out there starving in the cold!

20th Moonstone 309
Maybe it's too late. Maybe I should just give up.. I'm so tried and hungry.. I'll find Lady Patience or Die trying. Tomorrow, I'm not returning here until I find her!

21st Moonstone 309
I found her! I finally found her! And best of all, She's alive! Kept herself warm with her magic under all the snow! I had to dig her out, she looked pale and thin, but I'm sure she'll be back in full health in no time! I'm just so glad she's alright.. so very glad. -There are some spots of dropped liquid here, already dried out and making marks.-

22nd Moonstone 309
I passed out while shooting Parasprites yesterday, I guess I were so happy I forgot to eat. I'll eat a lot today to make up for the loss. Hopefully no one saw me passed out...

6th Opal.

The snowstorm has finished, at last, and we've emerged from our cavern below. It's quite small, as requested, but it kept us safe, and somewhat warm. This keep must be finished. I've given the carpenters orders to roof it up. After that, we can dig a moat, and we'll hopefully be safe and secure.

Mal Men and Fimbulwinter are now at the moment moving the rocks underground, turning them into building materials. I've lent a hoof or two to the Ashlers outside, building the roof for the keep. With any luck, we'll have it ready before the next winter.

This place... It's so different from back home. But we'll make it a proud Xandan of the Rainbow Coalition. I know we will.

12th Opal

Diary, we've got to make sure we have room for new ponies. Today, I ordered the digging of an enlarged section of the dormitories. With any luck, this will suit the demand we might well have.

I've started helping the carpenters get the beds ready. We have more than enough wood, at least. In fact, almost an embarrassment of lumber.

Especially for such a small settlement. Lewkes must be a legendary woodcutter.

27th Opal

Fimbulwinter and Mal Men reported to me today. During the digging of the new bedrooms, they found a new ore. Platinum ore. I'm sure it has uses, and might be suitable to help new metalworkers practice.

7th Obsidian

It's the middle of winter now, and the work below ground hasn't let up. Today, I gave Mal Men plans for the quarters I'd be using. They consist of five rooms - at the front is a room for the clerk and manager. Through that, my office, with Kat's quarters attached, followed by my dining room and my bedroom.

A rather modest layout, overall.

8th Obsidian

More news today. The ostriches we brought with us have continued laying, and just today, I received news of their chicks hatching. 14 new ostriches, which (when they mature) will keep us fed for a long time, with their eggs. I think, at this point, we can discard any care of food. We should provide far more than we need.

The only issue now is drink, so the farms will have to be prepared. And after that, we will be self-sufficient. Nearly ready.

16th Obsidian

The caravan is here today, at last! Kat spotted it while out hunting, and hurried back to inform us. We'll be ready.

They're here. At last. They're here. We haven't been forgotten.

1st Granite, 310

Thank Pewseth and Dezd! It's spring, at last! It's spring! Work is continuing on the roof, and it should be much faster now!

2nd Granite

As if to mark that spring has arrived, one of our yak cows has given birth to a calf. Good news for us all.

3rd Granite

Now spring is truly here. The spring melt has started. We have water again. The river is flowing.

10th Granite

Well, we don't have any Stream Caste here yet. But I was able to fill in for them, today. We've finished trading. We got a lot of new drink and material, and we traded away most of the crossbows our bowyer has made.

We also traded away the crafts that I (among others) have been making. At least they got a decent price. I think I'm improving.

Once we've finished the roof, we can begin on that moat... and that'll protect us.

14th Granite

The Merchants are leaving us now. Rather quick, but I suppose they want to be on their way before the heat of summer...

Anyway, we'll look for them next year.

Fimbulwinter's been a bit quiet. I wonder what he's up to...

25th Granite

Pertegah, the pegasus bowmaker, has got stuck on the wall. I guess that's the problem with these quick log walls. They're uneven, and it seems one of his wings got caught. At least we were able to free him quickly.

3rd Slate

Nothing really to report. We're doing well.

I've been making bolts to help out the hunters. I'm getting better at it.

I've seen Fimbulwinter hiding away food and drink, including all the pegasan rum. I didn't confiscate it, yet, but I wonder what he's up to...

10th Slate

Today, the ostrich chicks were making a nuisance of themselves, playing around the dining hall. It was good to see such joyful beings.

It'd be nice having foals doing that sort of thing...and I think that we might be getting some possible parents soon...

Diary, watch this space.

11th Slate

Okay, Diary, I know it now. Spinneret and Fimbulwinter? They're in love. I saw them just today, and that's what Fimbulwinter was doing with all that rum.

They're both Ashler, so that will at least clear up the caste of any foals. And the union will be simpler. I suppose I'd better prepare for that...

16th Slate

Diary...More migrants. A slippy stallion and tentacle mare Ranger couple, a Ranger darkbolt stallion (who claims he's married, but his wife isn't with him...) a pegasus stallion Ashler, with a Partisan unicorn daughter married to an Ashler Unicorn, an Ashler Unicorn mare, married but with an absent husband, an Ashler keshi mare and gorlak stallion couple, an Partisan Tentacle mare and unicorn stallion couple, a Partisan keshi stallion and slippy mare couple, an Ashler Pegasus mare, married but with an absent husband, a Ranger Slippy mare, with an absent husband, an Ashler Pegasus Mare and Unicorn Stallion couple, an Ashler Unicorn stallion, with absent wife, an Ashler Pegasus Stallion and Earth Pony Mare couple, a Ranger Slippy stallion, with absent wife, an Ashler Shadowbolt stallion and pegasus mare couple...

We've got a lot more people now. With any luck, this keep should be ready within two seasons.

Let's hope it is.

Diary 8

The rest of winter was fairly quiet.  Lady Patience ordered more furnishings made for the new rooms, which is a good idea.  I think everypony expects to see a lot of new faces come spring.  I've been, um... happy to see a certain old face around here, though.  Fimbulwinter.  He's a bit quiet and insular but... there's just something about him.  He talks like he has plans and ambitions, which is nice.  I like a stallion who knows what he wants.

Diary 9

The caravan has finally arrived!  Lady Patience is handling the trading since we haven't had any Steam migrate yet.  I doubt they'd be insulted she filled in, though.

Diary 10

Migrants!  It'll be nice to have some more hooves to help out around here.  There's a lot of work to be done!

Lodestone's Journal - 6th Opal

Maybe we've seen the last of the snow for this year.  I can hope anyway.  I can also hope that snow isn't a yearly thing around here, but in any case it's gone for now so I'm happy.

Less fortunately work has begun in earnest again outside.  The snow is gone, but it's still very cold outside, not to mention so
open.  How Breccia stands working out there every day is beyond me, I feel uneasy if I'm out there too long at a time.

But as they say there's a silver lining to every cloud, and in this case it's that we're building a roof over the courtyard.  Or, well, I think more properly Miss Patience plans to turn this into a fortified keep of sorts, but whatever the case may be there's going to be a roof and that's about as good as being underground.

Speaking of her, she spent more than a passing minute lending a hoof to the construction.  I'm more sure now than ever that she'll go a long way toward being a leader.  She's not too big to work among the , well, workers.  I can respect that in the mare.

27th Opal

The past couple of weeks have seen a lot of digging underground, and it was hard for me to keep my nose out of it all.  I caught word that we've got room for what must be dozens more ponies, which means that this place is going to be getting a lot bigger soon.  That's exciting, it will be nice to see some new faces around here.

I also heard that the miners stumbled onto some platinum down there.  That's an interesting development, but I don't know what we'll really do with it.  It's pretty to look at, but not a very practical metal for most things.  Maybe once the caravan arrives we can send some of that along with them to the ponies back home who can afford it and have a use for it in exchange for something more useful out here.

Breccia's Journal - 16th Obsidian

Things have been a bit boring out here for the past few months.  The most exciting thing to happen other than poor Patience getting lost in the snow was the parasprites that seem to be without end.  I think I've probably killed a dozen myself, but that's probably a bit on the high side.

Today looks like it might be the bringer of a bit of a change in the routine though.  Kat saw what looked like a caravan far off in the distance, heading toward Tacticssmile.  Rumor has it that Patience has been anxious about not seeing them yet, but I think they were just delayed by the heavy snow.  They'll be here soon.

Lodestone and I don't have a lot of bits, but it might be interesting to at least take a look through what they've brought.  Who knows?  There might be a nice new saddlebag that catches my eye.

With the caravan so delayed, we never got to send our letters off to the kids back home.  I need to remember to grab those and get them sent.  It's been too long since we've heard from them.

10th Granite

Oh, Lodestone frowned the whole time we were checking through the caravan for anything that looked interesting, but he didn't complain too much when I did pick up a new saddlebag.  The stitching was just lovely, and I couldn't let it go back home.  It goes so nicely with my coat.

Lodestone didn't get anything for himself, but I saw him eying a few knives one of the traders had.  He seemed more interested in the scabbards, which I must admit were rather nicely made from an interesting leather.  I told him to get one if it piqued his interest, but he just mumbled on about not needing it and went back inside.

He didn't guilt trip me about getting the bag though, which was a bit of a surprise.  Maybe he's finally realized that it won't kill a pony to turn a bit loose here or there.

Maybe one day anyway.

Lodestone's Journal - 25th Granite

One of those poor pegasi got his wing caught in the wall today.  I just happened to be nearby when they got him down, but it makes me ever more happy to be on the ground and away from such things.  That looked like it must have been excruciating, and I've heard from a few flying ponies over the years that wings are pretty sensitive things.  He was clearly in some pain, but took it like a real stallion and went back to work.  He's got a good work sense, I'll give him that, but I hope he doesn't overwork himself.  Hurting yourself isn't going to do anypony else much good.

12th Slate

Alright, I admit the ostriche chicks are kind of cute and their eggs are delicious, but I hope they find someplace other than the dining hall to keep the little things.  Even Breccia was finally having enough of their nonsense after about ten minutes of trying to eat in there.  We just took our meals back to our room to eat, which was much less chaotic.

If Miss Patience doesn't do something about it soon I suppose I'll have to say something to somepony.  Maybe it won't come to that.

While we were in the dining hall, Breccia noticed the two slippy ponies getting a bit close for friends.  That would be Fimbulwinter and I believe Spinerrette is her name.  He seems like an okay stallion, but I don't know much about her.  I hope the best for them.  I've got plenty of advice I could give them about this sort of thing if they'd care to hear it, but I can see Breccia's eyes rolling at just the thought of it so I'll stay out of it.  And I suppose she'd be right about this one.

Breccia's Journal - 16th Slate

We've all known for a while now that we should be expecting a few more ponies to arrive at some point, but I didn't realize it would be so many!  There must have been twenty new ponies who showed up today, from all walks of life and ages.

It's always good to have new ponies around to talk to and get to know.  We've been a pretty small, if not extremely tight-knit community, but it seems like that will be changing soon enough.  I'm looking forward to speaking with some of the arrivals.  I'm sure there's an interesting story to hear from one or two of them.

Diary 4

The settlement is coming along. Mal has yet to rise from her mood. Pity, I missed our talks. Patience is attempting to get out into the open and help us work, but I know she is simply making up for her mistake. I refuse to fall for it.

I herald good news: Winter has brought its bounty! Praise the Gods! Indeed, the couple I talked to were quite like-minded and are of good standing. The sort I hope will take charge of this settlement when the time is right. Not only that, one of the local Yaks has given birth. I do not think she has named the little one yet, bovines are odd that way, but considering the time of his birth I am going to request him to be named Thaw. A fitting name, if I say so myself, and the first sentinent birthed in this settlement must have some sort of honer.

Diary 5

Ghar help me, Spinnerete is adorable. Having learned that she enjoyed the local rum, I snuck off with a portune of it and slowly created a great silk container for the brew. While I simply called it a Hearths Warming Eve present (of which no one in this Gergforsaken place seems to care about), she looked at me and blushed so badly she resembled a orange. Perhapes it is time to, say, open up the web. Perhapes, as a miner, I could lay claim to a moderate-sized chamber underground for myself and possibly Spinner? Actualy, Lodestone and his wife might appreciate a gift of sorts as well. Perhapes I do need to talk with our supposed leader.

Unfortunatly, I must end this on a sour note: Migrents. Not only that, but not a single...typical couple in sight. Alas, I even spotted one of my slippy kin married to one of those betenticaled faux-unicorns. I mean, what could possibly...ug. I mean, I enjoy Mal's company and all, but realy now?

Claiming the Partisan Unicorn stallion and Tentacle mare couple. Names are Doctor Clever-Cleaver and Bittersweet.

Among the throng of new arrivals are two ponies, both with cinnamon colored coats, and manes of azure and dark pink.

The stallion among them is a unicorn, very thin, and fairly young. Perhaps in his mid 20s. His clothing is of decent quality, but his shirt doesn't quite seem on straight, and he seems not to understand the purpose of a belt. He wears oval glasses, with thin frames, and has a plain gold ring upon his horn. He has a large smile on his face, as he looks all around, examining everything.

The tentacle mare looks about the same age, as the stallion. She has a distinctively middle-class dress on, which she wears much better than the shirt and pants of the disheveled looking stallion next to her. She is a bit chubby around the middle, but by no means fat. She has a plain gold ring around the base of her tentacle. The mare has a serious expression upon her face.

Between the two ponies is only two small cases of luggage.

------------------------------------------

Clever-Cleaver's Journal Entry #1

Finally arrived in new outpost. Named Tacticssmiled. Places on the frontier like this are dangerous. Between raiders and construction work, they'll need a skilled doctor. Should be a good place to find some work. Bittersweet seems less than happy. She'd rather be someplace more developed I think. She'll love this place before long though.

Bittersweet's Diary

I can't believe Clever is bringing us out to this place. They barely have their walls up, and no place for a ballista or catapult and no need for one either. Blah. I guess I can work in their kitchens for now. Don't misunderstand me diary. I love cooking. It is my special talent after all. But I'd prefer to get to really cook, not doing this massed cafeteria grunt work. And besides it took a lot of work for me to become a licensed siege operator in the first place, so I could finally get out of the Ashler caste. And then what does he do? Picks up stakes and drags us out to the middle of, gods buck it, no where!

I love him, but sometimes Clever can be really dense.

Kat's Diary, Second page.

6th Opal 309
At long last the snow stopped! I've been worried that we'd be buried under the snow if it doesn't stop soon, Would be nice for the others to work outside now. But I'm going to keep wearing loads of cloth to keep warm, I just wish those damned Parasprites froze to death.

10th Opal 309
Found a small trail of blood today, Not sure who's it from and nopony seems to be missing. Parasprite's blood doesn't look like that, I'm going to keep an eye out, but I think it's better if I don't worry other ponies about it, They're already working hard.

12th Opal 309
I've heard they're digging more rooms for everypony today and are making beds! Would be nice for some restful sleep sometimes after a nice mug of drinks and hunting.

Still no sign of the owner of that splatter of blood, maybe it's nothing.

17th Opal 309
I feel like I've become so used to shooting those damned Parasprites I can shoot them while resting! It's getting awfully boring nowadays, but We've got to keep those damned things away from our food.

27th Opal 309
Sorry for being away for so long Diary, there's just not many things to write about anymore, just same old damned things on a different day. But today the Miners dug up some Platinum! I'm sure they'll make great things to sell to the Caravan.. If they decide to come at all, I'm getting real worried.

7th Obsidian 309
I've been told that my bedroom will be the one connected to Lady Patience's office! What honor! I think it's a really great idea, keep me close around her. I hope it's a nice sized one too! Not that I mind a small one but, a mare can dream!

9th Obsidian 309
Is it me or are the meals nowadays seems to be consisting solely on eggs? Mind you, it taste good, just need some salt.

16th Obsidian 309
They're here! They're finally here! The Caravan's here! I saw them while out hunting some critters for something to eat other than eggs, They seemed a little lost but I'm sure they saw me and came to us fine enough. At first I almost shot one of them thinking they were wild critter.

20th Obsidian 309
I'll never get why Caravans spend so long setting things up, but they finished today. I found a very beautiful mirror I'd just love to buy and put it in my room, and a nice saddle bag too! someone brought it already though, shame. I'd buy them, I'd maybe even buy some carpeting knives, but today I realized that I don't have any money or things to trade with them at all! makes me feels kind of sad really.

1st Granite 310
Happy new year Diary! I'm going to take a break from hunting today and go ask ponies out for partying and drinks! Lady patience needs to get out more.

3rd Granite 310
The River melted and we've got fresh water again! Oh! and a Yak was born yesterday. Everypony seems to be making a big fuss about it, I don't get why. But I guess it's a good starting?

Lady Patience did some tradings today, I was with her to guard and make sure everything goes fine and they won't try anything funny. One of the merchant guards were giving me funny eyes, Maybe he's trying to hit on me or something. Well, not in a thousand years!

I wish I'd have had asked Lady Patience to buy me that Mirror.. But I'm sure we need other things more than some Mirror for myself. I doubt I'll get to see it again next year, but Mirrors sure are expensive things..

14th Granite 310
The Caravan are leaving today, I made to to go and send them off a fair distance before returning. I think I saw a swarm of Parasprite on my way back, I don't even want to imagine about dealing with them.

26th Granite 310
I've heard some Pegasus got his wing stuck on the wall yesterday, Nasty stuff. I wouldn't want to get my wing stuck on a wall.. We should be more careful about that sort of things.

3rd Slate 310
Lady Patience have been making some bolts for us Hunters, although I insisted that she don't have to do such mundane task herself. But I won't lie, her bolts are very well balanced and good. It feels great to shoot a well-balanced bolt.

5th Slate 310
I've been seeing ponies hiding away food and drinks for a while already. Something's not right.. I hope they're not planning on doing anything funny, I don't mind if they just want some extra snacks and drinks during lights out hour though. Since I do those sometimes too.

10th Slate 310
I saw some ponies walking out of the dining hall annoyed today, asked them what's up and turns out the ostrich chicks have been messing around in there. Why do we let pets into the dining hall in the first place anyway?

16th Slate 310
More Immigrants! I have no idea what they see in this outpost, but I'm glad we'd have more hooves to help us build. I think there's a few ranger castes with them too! Maybe we'll become friends..

(since there is a slim chance of a single waterfall stallion available at the moment, I'll claim this guy and say he sometimes sings, if that's ok

23rd Slate

Diary, today we had a diplomat from home. Not much to talk about, but we put in an order for metal bars, and a couple of animals.

Relatively successful meeting, as these things go. Nothing too out of the ordinary.

11th Felsite -

I was making some wooden crafts today, and I made a masterful wooden ring...

Maybe later...I might find a pony to give it to...who knows, I suppose.

12th Felsite

Today, I promoted Kat to the command of the militia. She's picked out six other ponies to join her. Breccia, Beraq, Zen W Shewher, Bad Seba, Safah, and Bekhewan are the ponies she has selected. An all mare squad. They'll be trained as crossbowponies, Kat tells me.

13th Felsite

I've continued making bolts, and this particular set seems to be one of the best I've made yet.

I also picked out the furniture for my rooms, including a nice statue made by Fimbulwinter. It will do quite nicely.

I've ordered the digging out of a firing range for our militia. When they get time, melee practice will also take place there.

15th Felsite

In order to ensure the protection of the fort, I've ordered a drawbridge and a moat made. The drawbridge will be relatively easy, but the moat may require some time.

17th Felsite

The dining room has had more chairs and tables placed in it, in order to make room for the new ponies. It should hold about 20 ponies at one time now.

I've made a nice little figurine of the ponies here. It'll represent our founding of this soon-to-be-great outpost.

I've also set aside a little pasture for the ostrich chicks until they're grown.

23rd Felsite

The bridge is finished. We're nearly finished our outer defences. Just the moat to go.

25th Felsite

We need somepony to account our stocks. I have selected Khewasetgar Shhert as our bookkeeper in order to do so.

1st Hematite

Summer. We've gone through a year here....

I think we're going to last.

Wait. One of the ponies, an Ashler, is acting strangely...

9th Hematite

Gefasew Alhefapertegah, that pony who started acting strangely, has claimed the recently-erected Metalsmith's forge. The Ashler is refusing to speak to anypony.

I've asked Kat to keep an eye on her. I hope this isn't something bad...

16th Hematite

Our book-keeper, Khewasetgar Shhert, has reported that we have 37 tanned hides. This should be enough for us to equip our entire militia with at least leather armour. The hunters have done very well.

22nd Hematite

Gefasew has taken a silver bar and has begun construction...of something.

Let's hope it goes well. And quickly. We could do with some armour and weapons for the next squad, Kat tells me.

27th Hematite

Gefasew has completed her project. A silver peytral that she calls Pefaazefareng. It's the work of a master craftspony.

13th Malachite

The moat is still not dug, though Fimbulwinter assures me it will be dug soon. It had better be. It's too quiet out there.

Diary 11

Things are still fairly relaxing and calm around here, which is nice?  A bit boring, though.  Lady Patience has been working with wood in her space time, so I get to see her fairly often, but I still haven't worked up the courage to actually talk to her yet.  Kat is now Commander Kat, which isn't that surprising.  She's probably the best fighter in Tacticssmile, after all.  I'm actually glad she didn't chose me to join the military.  I mean, sure, it's kinda outside my caste, but it'd be exciting to learn to use a crossbow.  I don't think I'd make a good guardsmare, though.

Diary 12

Gefasew got this strange look in her eyes in the middle of setting up another workshop.  I tried to talk to her, but she just wandered away mumbling about metal.  I hope she'll be alright.

Diary 13

We built a forge today, wondering if maybe Gefasew would get back to her old self if she could work on metal?  It seemed a flimsy idea, but she looked all determined as soon at it was set up.  She ran off and grabbed some silver, and is working away at something in the forge.  Anypony who gets too close gets driven off by her stare and gibberish.  I hope she feels better after making her... whatever it it.

Diary 14

She's back!  Gefasew made an amazing silver peytral.  I don't know if silver makes decent armor, but it's surely better than nothing?  It'll probably be given to Commander Kat, or set up somewhere as the work of art it is.  Gefasew seems to be back to normal, though a bit more... coordinated?  Sure?  She's definitely a better armorer than before she made that thing, that's for sure.  Which is great!  Once we get some good metal, the guards will be well protected in their duties.

Diary 6

Our Eternal Majasty seemed to enjoy the statue of a minotaur recreating a display of Griffonic rudeness that involves the use of one of there digits, seemingly out of ignorance. Am I the only pony here aware of the term "flipping the bird"? Nevermind, she seems pleased with it's display.

Mal is still quiet. Poor girl.

Spinneret, presumably, is busy with the invad immigrants. Pity, realy, but we still managed to get some small chat in between our work hours.

Patience has had a stroke of brillance. No, not a actual stroke, I am not entirely sure Alicorns can get those. Rather, she has finaly ordered the fort, for it is one now, to have proper defences! I am currantly talking with other Ashlers about a possible labor-strike, and Patience has lived true to here name and sucked up every word about me having other things to do. Hah!

Speaking of Ashlers, one of the few that actualy followed what I was saying seemed to have had some internal break: she began to mumble things under her breath and has since taken control of a forge. Watch this space.

EDIT: Ah, she seemed to have made a fine neck-protector. I can only hope that she was inspired by my words to create a tool to protect her community with.

On another note, we have our first offical guardsponies: Nine mares, led by Kat. I should actualy attempt to speak with her, considering she arrived with me and I hardly know her at all.
